RACE 1:  tab.com.au CG&E Class 1 Handicap 1350m

Bob – Slow to begin.  Rider K Jennings could offer no explanation for the performance of the gelding today.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.  Stewards will follow up on the post-race condition of Bob in the days subsequent.

Bon Vivant – Slow to begin.

Mihocek – Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages.  Inclined to lay out rounding the turn from the 500m until straightening.

Bodgie – Raced keenly in the middle stages. Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

RACE 2:  Canadian Club Maiden Handicap 1350m

Awarding – On arrival at the barriers, rider R Brewer requested that his mount undergo a veterinary examination.  Awarding was subsequently inspected by the Club's Veterinary Officer and deemed suitable to race.  Slow to begin, then failed to muster speed in the early stages, despite the efforts of its rider, and as a consequence became detached from the remainder of the field.

Rhythmboat – Began only fairly and then was shifted behind runners from a wide barrier in the early stages.

Always Praying – Began awkwardly.  Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

Nullify – Shortly after the start was bumped by Harapan, which shifted out.  Near the 700m was carried wider by Tuhinga, which shifted out. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Tuhinga – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages and near the 700m was shifted out to avoid the heels of Harapan.  Tuhinga then continued to race keenly for some distance thereafter.

Regal Pom – When questioned, App. E Hennessy reported that it was her intention to lead or settle just behind the leaders.  She said that after Regal Pom bounded on jumping and lost ground, she immediately placed the gelding under pressure, however, her mount did not quicken sufficiently and was quickly crossed and as a consequence settled towards the rear of the field.  She said that throughout the middle stages she attempted to maintain a one-off position, which would have given her the best opportunity to commence a run when she liked, however near the 800m her mount was hampered by Tuhinga¸ which shifted in, and was again hampered near the 600m when Rhythmboat shifted in. This resulted in Regal Pom being dictated to the rail.  She added that her mount was then held up and had to wait until Rhythmboat made a forward move leaving the 400m, where she was then able to shift to the outside of that runner on straightening to obtain clear running, where Regal Pom finished its race off well.

Falsetto – Rider A Gibbons reported that in his opinion the filly did not run out the 1350m of today’s race.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 3:  Great Northern On Tap Maiden Plate 1000m

Shoot On – Began only fairly.

Stays On Tour – Began only fairly.  Raced keenly in the middle stages and was inclined to hang out making the turn from the 500m until entering the home straight.

Italian Informant – On jumping bumped with Phases.

Phases – On jumping bumped with Italian Informant.

Fielding – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

Flower Press – Rider M Bell reported that he had to make use of the filly to cross runners to obtain a position close to the rail.  He said that this resulted in the filly, which was resuming, not being able to finish its race off as had been expected.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Mr Putin – Rider M Palmer reported that, after beginning only fairly, he had to make some use of the colt to obtain a prominent position.  He said that Mr Putin never travelled comfortably throughout the event and was always under pressure to maintain its position when pressured by runners to his outside in the middle stages.  He added that consequently Mr Putin did not respond to his riding from the 400m and gave ground in the home straight.  M Palmer further added that, in his opinion, Mr Putin may not have appreciated today’s track conditions.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.  Stewards will follow up with the stable on the future race plans for the colt.

RACE 4:  Jarrad The Model Benchmark 64 Handicap 2100m

Pressing Matters – Slow to begin.

Flying Mojo  Rider A Bullock reported that it was his intention to settle further forward, however, after being hampered at the start, he elected to ease the gelding and ultimately took up a position at the rear of the field.  He said that, due to the race being run at a moderate tempo, Flying Mojo found it difficult to make up ground and was only one-paced when placed under pressure in the straight.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be 1/5 lame in the off-foreleg.  Trainer Mr N Godbolt was advised a veterinary clearance must be furnished prior to Flying Mojo barrier trialling or racing again.

Lava – Raced wide and without cover until near the 1300m, where it was allowed to stride forward by its rider to race outside the leader Alastor.  L Magorrian pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used the whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100m (5 more than permitted).  L Magorrian was fined $400.

Barellan Bandit – Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages.

RACE 5:  Magic Millions Maiden Plate 1600m

Wizard Of Oz – Whilst parading in the mounting enclosure, the colt shifted its off-fore plate.  After being replated Wizard Of Oz was examined by the Club's Veterinary Officer and deemed suitable to race. Shifted out abruptly on jumping.   Rider L Magorrian could offer no explanation on the performance of the colt.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.  Stewards will follow up with the stable on the future race plans for Wizard Of Oz.

Cote Des Bar – The gelding lost its off-fore plate en route to the barriers.  After being replated Cote Des Bar was examined by the Club's Veterinary Officer and deemed suitable to race.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Adviser – Began awkwardly.

Turgenev – On jumping was bumped by Aurora Florentina, which shifted out.  Raced ungenerously in the early stages.

Aurora Florentina – Began only fairly, shifted out, made contact with Turgenev and became unbalanced.  Over the concluding stages was unable to be fully tested when improving into a narrow run between The Artefact and Prefect Match.

Forever You – Began only fairly.

The Artefact – Slow to begin.

Seany’s Girl – Slow to begin.

Circling – Raced keenly in the early stages.  Laid in under pressure over the final 200m.

Prefect Match – Raced keenly in the early stages.

Poppy’s Girl – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.  Over the concluding stages was eased when crowded between Prefect Match and Circling (M Palmer), which shifted in when not clear.  M Palmer was advised to exercise more care.

RACE 6:  Ryan’s Metal Roofing Conditional Benchmark 68 Hap 1200m

Rifles – A veterinary examination of the gelding, which became fractious after being loaded into the barriers, deemed it suitable to race.  Rider A Bullock reported that the gelding raced keenly throughout the event and, as a consequence, was unable to finish its race off when under pressure in the straight.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Leave Me Some – On jumping was bumped by Rumpshaker and then was shifted behind runners in the early stages from its wide barrier.  Making the first turn near the 700m was steadied when crowded between Trust Me, which shifted out slightly, and Rumpshaker (L Magorrian), which shifted in when overracing.  L Magorrian was reprimanded under AR131(a).

Rumpshaker – Began awkwardly and bumped Leave Me Some.  Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

Patagonian – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Trust Me – Making the first turn near the 700m was eased from the heels of Windsweep (K Jennings) when that runner shifted in when not fully clear.  K Jennings was advised to exercise more care.

Toro Toro – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.  A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which hung out throughout the event, did not reveal any abnormalities.

Da Nang Star – Rider M Bell reported, after obtaining a prominent position with cover, the gelding travelled satisfactory.  He said he placed Da Nang Star under pressure leaving the 400m, however, the gelding did not respond to his riding as expected, given the run Da Nang Star had.  He added that following the race he observed Da Nang Star to be noticeably lethargic.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from heat stress.  The matter was adjourned to enable Stewards to interview trainer Mr B Baker.

RACE 7:  Wyong’s Next Race Meeting January 18 F&M Class 1 Handicap 1350m

Lime And Sugar – Trainer Mr J Hopkins was fined $200 under LR35(2) for the late declaration of M Weir as the rider of the mare.  Slow to begin.

Lucilight – Began awkwardly and lost ground (2L).  Over the concluding stages was unable to be fully tested when awkwardly positioned close to the heels of Air Of Alsace, which shifted in slightly.

Tornado Light – Slow to begin.
