Eyewitness – Stewards permitted K Jennings to ride the filly 0.5kg over its allotted weight of 55.5kgs.  The filly was a late scratching at 2.03pm on veterinary advice after it became fractious in the barrier and struck its head.  The Stewards ruled that all monies invested on Eyewitness be refunded in full and that all successful wagers made prior to 2.03pm be subject to the following deductions in the face value of each ticket:

1st Reverse 27 cents win 23 cents place

2nd That’s Better 23 cents place

Trainer Ms K Buchanan was told Eyewitness would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again.

Urban Warrior – Slow to begin.

Wijdaan – Slow to begin.

That’s Better – Laid out rounding the home turn.

Reverse – Near the 150m was shifted to the outside of That’s Better to continue into clear running.

RACE 2:  Determine Bortoli Wines Maiden Handicap 1600m

Cookies – Knuckled on jumping and lost ground.  Overraced in the early stages.  After the winning post, Atonement shied at the barriers and shifted in abruptly, causing Cookies to strike the heels of that runner and blunder, dislodging its rider A Denby.  A Denby was examined by the on course paramedics and cleared of any injury.  A post-race veterinary examination of the horse, which was beaten 22 lengths, revealed the horse to be 1/5 lame in the off-foreleg.  Trainer Ms W Platts was told that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Cookies barrier trialling or racing again.

Atonement – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Dunlee – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.  When questioned regarding the performance, rider J Collett stated that he was instructed to ride his mount prominently, however, it failed to muster speed in the early stages, despite being ridden along and, as a consequence, settled at the rear of the field.  He said that his mount never travelled comfortably at any stage, became under heavy pressure passing the 1000m and from that point was disappointing in that it failed to quicken and was one-paced in the run to the finish.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Somova - Laid out rounding the home turn and then continued to lay out in the home straight and proved difficult to fully test.

Mr Canyounot – Rounding the home turn was bumped on two occasions and carried wider by Somova, which shifted out when inclined to lay out.  Passing the 200m, Mr Canyounot was again bumped by Somova and passing the 100m, when weakening, was hampered by Somova, which continued to shifted out.

Soldier’s Desire - Stewards permitted K Jennings to ride the filly 0.5kg over its allotted weight of 55.5kgs.

Arlandria – On jumping was bumped by Belieber.  Laid out rounding the home turn and continued to lay out under pressure in the home straight.

Kerrisdale – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Running For Bub - Near the 150m was steadied when hampered by Mosht Up, which shifted out slightly.

Margie Bee – Near the 150m was briefly crowded between Designer Maid and Miss Sure Shot, which both shifted ground.  When questioned regarding the performance, rider K Jennings stated that after beginning well, he restrained his mount in an attempt to settle off the leader Designer Maid, however, his mount was inclined to overrace until passing the 800m.  He added that his mount travelled more cry throughout the middle stages, however, when placed under pressure from the 300m, his mount failed to respond to his riding and, in his opinion, the mare’s racing manners in the early stages left it without a finishing effort.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 5:  Great Northern On Tap Benchmark 64 Handicap 1600m

One Pound - Shortly after the start was bumped by Harry And The Duke.

Broadside Armour – Began awkwardly.  When questioned regarding the performance, rider R King stated that her mount commenced to hang out in the early stages and, as a consequence, it took her some time to shift her mount to a position outside the early leader One Pound from the wide barrier.  She said that her mount then continued to hang out throughout the middle stages and rounding the turn from the 700m commenced to hang out more severely, before it ran to the outside fence from the 500m, despite her efforts, and took no further competitive part in the event.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.  Stable representative Mr R Hamilton was told Broadside Armour would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.

Nothing Too Hard – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Benfica Maid – Near the 1400m was eased to avoid the heels of Harry And the Duke (S Lisnyy), which shifted in when not clear.  S Lisnyy was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

Majella – K Latham (Aspect Ratio) was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that he permitted his mount to shifted in approaching the 1300m when insufficiently clear of Harry And The Duke, which was carried in across the running of Majella, which had to be checked.  K Latham’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Thursday, 26 November 2020 and to expire on Saturday, 5 December 2020, on which day he may ride.

Villarrica - Approaching the 100m was momentarily crowded by Harry And The Duke, which shifted in slightly before being corrected by its rider.

Into The Oblivion – Near the 50m improved onto the heels of San Francisco and was unable to be tested for the remainder of the event.

RACE 6:  Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale Benchmark 68 Handicap 1000m

Rifles – The gelding was a late scratching at 2.17pm on veterinary advised after the gelding had some swelling to its near-fore fetlock.  Trainer Mr B Partelle was told a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Rifles barrier trialling or racing again.

Trust Me – As App. B Griffiths was indisposed, Stewards permitted App. B Ryan to be substituted as the rider of the gelding.  Shortly after the start was bumped by Isorich.

Vox Pop – Raced wide and without cover throughout the majority of the event.

Longbottom – When questioned regarding the performance, rider B Avdulla stated he was instructed to ride his mount with cover, however, after beginning well and when the tempo in the early stages was only moderate, he felt the better option would be to allow it to improve to race outside the leader Emilette near the 700m.  He added that, when placed under pressure rounding the home turn, Longbottom commenced to hang out and was disappointing in its failure to finish the race off in the home straight.  He said that, in his opinion, Longbottom would be better suited ridden more conservative in its races and given more opportunity to finish its races off.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities/
