RACE 1: Schweppes Handicap 1200m:

Trunk– The colt, which was in the barrier adjacent to Il Passero when that horse became fractious, underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race.

Tarpaulin– Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

Delrico– Began awkwardly.

Glassout– From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. T. Schiller reported that the filly did not handle the Heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Scintilla– K. McEvoy reported that approaching the 200m his mount commenced to race greenly and, as a consequence, was checked after becoming awkwardly placed at the heels of Diamond Firetail when that runner shifted in marginally and also due to Scintilla shifting out and away from Cindersea (K. Latham) when that runner shifted out. In all the circumstances, K. Latham was advised to exercise more care. Scintilla continued to race greenly for the remainder of the event.

Il Passero– After being loaded into the barriers, became fractious, reared and got both front legs over the barrier partition. The colt was a late scratching at 12.52pm acting on veterinary advice. Stewards ruled that all moneys invested on Il Passero be refunded in full and that all successful wagers made prior to 12.52pm be subject to the following cents in the dollar deductions from the face value of each ticket:

1st Tarpaulin                            5¢, 3¢

2nd Diamond Firetail           11¢

3rd Trunk

Stable representative Mr J. Litt was advised that Il Passero would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to being permitted to race again.

RACE 2: James Squire Handicap 1200m:

Coincide– App. A. McLucas reported that she had to make some use of her mount to cross Pink Shalala in the early stages. She added that the colt travelled comfortably throughout the middle stages, however, came under heavy pressure rounding the home turn, did not respond to her riding and then weakened in the straight. The only explanation App. McLucas could offer was that Coincide may not have handled the Heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slow to recover.  Stewards will follow up on the post-race condition of Coincide in the days subsequent.

Scissor Me Timbers– Began awkwardly. Near the 600m was bumped by Pink Shalala, which shifted out.

Ces Soirees La– Began very awkwardly and lost ground.

Drama Dodger– Slow to begin.

Pink Shalala– Passing the 600m when being shifted out from behind Coincide, made contact with Scissor Me Timbers and became unbalanced.

RACE 3: Admire Mars at Arrowfield Handicap 1100m:

Zouripper– Slow to begin and then shortly after was steadied when crowded between Grassburn and Fiorenza, which was taken out by Linwood. From a wide barrier Zouripper then was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Near the 500m bumped with Fiorenza. Near the 250m became held up behind Du Cap before obtaining a run to the outside of that runner passing the 150m. Zouripper then had to be checked when disappointed for a run between Incarcerated and Our Little Star near the 100m and, as a consequence, then was unable to be tested for the remainder of the event.

Love And Light– Began awkwardly. App. A. McLucas reported that after obtaining the lead, as expected, the filly travelled well. She said that after responding to her riding rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight Love and Light then was one paced over the final 100m and was unable to close off the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be slow to recover.

Viaconi– Near the 500m became awkwardly placed at the heels of Du Cap. N. Rawiller reported that after beginning only fairly from the outside barrier he was able to obtain a position midfield with cover. He said that after placing his mount under pressure rounding the home turn the gelding did not respond to his riding as expected and he was somewhat disappointed with its failure to finish off the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have sustained a superficial cut to the off-hind canon.

Grassburn– From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

McKenzie– When giving ground was hampered near the 150m by Fiorenza, which laid out. A. Collett reported that the gelding, which was having its first race start in Australia did not handle the Heavy track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Fiorenza– On jumping was hampered when crowded between Zouripper and Linwood, which was taken out by Love And Light. Near the 500m was bumped by Zouripper. Near the 250m made contact with Zouripper. Firoenza then was inclined to lay out and passing the 200m made slight contact with McKenzie. Fiorenza continued to lay out until inside the 100m where it raced tight to the inside of Grassburn over the concluding stages.

Kilbady– Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. On straightening was bumped and carried wider by Sweet Patriot, which shifted out.

Linwood– On jumping was hampered when crowded between Fiorenza and Love and Light, which shifted out.

Our Little Star– Over the concluding stages was hampered by Sweet Patriot (J. Lloyd) when that runner shifted ground. J. Lloyd was told to exercise more care and to stop riding and straighten his mounts when they shift ground.

Sweet Patriot– From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

RACE 4: TAB Handicap 2130m:

Asgoodassobergets – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Olympic Gaze – Near the 250m was disappointed for a run between Futtaim and Aiseirigh. Olympic Gaze then was held up until shifting to the outside of Aiseirigh near the 150m.

Monarchs Brae – On jumping was bumped by Aiseirigh, which shifted in. N. Rawiller was unable to offer any explanation for the performance of the gelding, which failed to respond to his riding rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up on the post-race condition of Monarchs Brae in the days subsequent.

Whetu – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

McGeehan – Raced wide and without cover from the 1000m.

Futtaim – Raced wide and without cover until the 1000m.

Aiseirigh – On straightening was briefly crowded between McGeehan and Futtaim, which shifted out.

RACE 5: Hyland Race Colours Handicap 1000m:

Hi Dubai– N. Rawiller was permitted to ride the mare one kilogram over its allotted weight of 57.5kgs. Held up from the 350m until passing the 150m.

Euros– Began awkwardly and shortly after was momentarily crowded between Look Only, which was taken out by World Alliance, and Wingardium, which shifted in.

Lady Shenanigans– Slow to begin.

Look Only– Shortly after the start was hampered when crowded between World Alliance and Euros.

RACE 6: Pinatubo @ Darley Handicap 1600m:

Highballer– Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

Headley Grange– Began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with Silvakia.

Guzumped– Shortly after the start shifted out and made contact with Silvakia. From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Fun Sunday– Shortly after the start was bumped by Wecansay Dun¸ which shifted out.

Really Serious– Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.

Wecansay Dun– On jumping shifted out and made contact with Fun Sunday.

Silvakia– Began awkwardly and shortly after was hampered when crowded between Guzumped and Headley Grange. From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

RACE 7: Ole Kirk First Yearlings Handicap 1300m:

Lang Park– Approaching the 300m was briefly crowded between Flying Destiny and Sweysive, which shifted out.

Flying Destiny– Shortly after the start shifted in abruptly before being corrected by its rider.

Sweysive– A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Kerguelen– Near the 500m was steadied after endeavouring to improve into a position between Sweysive and Lang Park where there was doubtful room. App. Z. Lloyd was told to ensure that there is sufficient room when attempting similar manoeuvres.

Cool Lad– Began only fairly.

Let Me Reign– Shortly after the start had to be checked when awkwardly placed at the heels of Flying Destiny, which shifted in abruptly. As a result, Let Me Reign clipped that runner’s heels. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
