RACE 1: Stud &Stable Staff Awards Handicap 1400m:

Madonna Falls – After beginning only fairly then was tightened for room between Shivani and Comporta, both of which shifted ground. As a consequence, Madonna Falls then was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Shivani – After beginning awkwardly was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Easier – Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Passing the 800m was bumped on the hindquarter by Desert Flame, which shifted out. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

Desert Flame – When questioned regarding his riding in the early stages and the reason he allowed Comporta to cross to the lead near the 1000m, R. Dolan explained that he was instructed to ride Desert Flame in a prominent position. He said that after being positive on the filly in the early stages, his mount then commenced to race keenly a short distance later and when he observed Comporta improving forward to his outside he was of the view that if he were to allow that runner to cross Desert Flame this may assist his mount to settle. He said, however, that when Comporta crossed to the lead the tempo of the race reduced and as a result Desert Flame continued to race keenly throughout the middle stages. R. Dolan agreed with Stewards that he should have made more of an endeavour to hold a position to the inside of Comporta rather than allowing that runner to cross to the lead near the 1000m:

Rebel Rama – Began only fairly. Raced keenly in the middle stages.

RACE 2: Vinery Stud Handicap 1400m:

Law Party– Rider J. Parr reported that the gelding travelled well in a favourable position behind the leader, Sarandos. He said that rounding the home turn and passing the 400m he was able to obtain a run between Sarandos and Gallant Lad whereby Law Party improved. He added that passing the 250m the gelding did not respond to his riding from that point and was disappointing in the manner in which it finished off its race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slow to recover. Stewards will follow up on the post-race condition and immediate race plans for Law Party.

Cash Register– After beginning awkwardly then was bumped by Vanderland, which shifted in. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Vanderland– Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

Sarandos– Shifted its off-fore plate in the tie-up stalls. After being replated the gelding was examined by the Club's Veterinary Officer and deemed suitable to race. Began awkwardly.

Singapura– After being slow to begin then was crowded when tightened for room between Cash Register and Grenado, both of which shifted ground. Singapura then was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Beachhaven– On jumping shifted out and made contact with Grenado. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Laid out rounding the home turn.

Grenado– Shortly after the start was tightened for room between Singapura and Beachhaven, which shifted out. Hung out rounding the home turn and under pressure in the straight. For some distance approaching the 200m became awkwardly positioned at the heels of Vanderland before continuing into clear running inside the 200m. Continued to hang out, obliging its rider near the 100m to change the whip through to his left hand.

RACE 3: Impending @ Darley Handicap 1000m:

All Stand– Began awkwardly and from a wide barrier then was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Calipari– Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.

Shadow Bridge– Rider J. Parr reported that the gelding raced keenly in the early and middle stages, and laid out when placed under pressure rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight. He added that the racing manners were the principal reason for the gelding being unable to finish off its race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slow to recover. Stewards will follow up on the post-race condition and future race plans.

Rosina Kojonup– Rider K. McEvoy reported that it was his intention to ride the mare prominently. He added that Rosina Kojonup did not show sufficient speed to lead Able Hill and Shadow Bridge, and as a result he was obliged to take a position with cover behind those runners. He added that although his mount was inclined to lay out when under pressure in the straight, he still was disappointed somewhat in the manner in which the mare failed to finish off its race today. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any significant abnormalities. Stewards will follow up on the post-race condition of the mare.

Lunar Tramp– Held up rounding the home turn.

RACE 4: Ranvet Handicap – Heat Of The Rising Star 1400m:

Let's Rebelle– Began awkwardly.

Constanzia– After beginning only fairly failed to muster speed and as a result was shifted behind runners. App. C. Williams reported that his mount raced keenly throughout the middle stages and near the 900m, when the tempo reduced, was steadied to avoid the heels of Havin' Fun and shifted to that runner's outside. He added that he then attempted to improve forward to cross Let's Rebelle, however, when that runner improved to his inside from the 800m he was unable to cross that runner and ultimately raced wide and without cover for the remainder of the event. He added that from the 500m his mount commenced to hang out rounding the turn and continued to do so in the early part of the straight and when he felt his mount put in an awkward stride approaching the 200m and as he had some concerns that there may be something amiss he desisted from riding Constanzia out from that point. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr J. Deamer advised that Constanzia will undergo a veterinary examination on return to the stable, the results of which he will report to the Stewards, at which point Stewards will determine what, if any, action is taken against the mare.

Latina Beauty– Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Over the final 50m was unable to be fully tested when awkwardly positioned to the inside of the heels of Havin' Fun.

Havin' Fun– Raced keenly in the early stages and near the 1100m was restrained from the heels of Let's Rebelle. Havin' Fun then continued to race keenly for some distance thereafter.

Red Hot Chillypins– Slow to begin and from the outside barrier then was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

RACE 5: Drinkwise Mile 1600m:

Home Ground– J. Collett (Jungle Book) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that inside the 200m, when endeavouring to obtain clear running to the outside of Gallahad's Quest, became awkwardly placed on the heels of that runner and continued to shift out when insufficiently clear of Home Ground, resulting in Home Ground having to be steadied and lose its rightful running when crowded between Wairere Falls and Jungle Book. J. Collett's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday 24 January 2021, at the expiration of a suspension incurred at Randwick on Saturday 9 January 2021, and to expire on Saturday 30 January 2021 on which day he may ride. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities,

Spokesman– Rider K. McEvoy reported that his mount travelled well in a favourable position throughout the early and middle stages. He added that when under pressure from the 500m Spokesman did not respond to his riding and was disappointing in the manner in which it finished off its race. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up on the post-race condition of the gelding.

All Things– From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Azarmin– Bumped heavily at the start by Think Straight. Azarmin then was shifted behind runners in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Jungle Book– Shifted behind runners in the early stages. Inside the 200m became awkwardly placed at the heels of Gallahad's Quest and shifted to the outside of that runner to continue into clear running.

American Salute– Began awkwardly.

Duchess Of Windsor– From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Sirmaze– Rounding the home turn was hampered and taken wider by Spokesman, which was taken out by Wairere Falls.

RACE 6: Hyland Race Colours Handicap 1400m:

Awesome Lad– Began awkwardly and made contact with the inside barrier partition and from a wide barrier then was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Casino Mondial– Began awkwardly.

Boomtown Rat– Slow into stride.

Darleb– Began only fairly.

Obelos– Shifted behind runners in the early stages. Passing the 1200m had to be steadied when crowded by Awesome Lad (C. Reith), which shifted in when not clear. C. Reith was advised to exercise more care. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Big Bad Bruce– Hung out rounding the home turn. When questioned regarding the gelding racing further forward today, R. Bayliss stated that he was instructed to obtain a position with cover. He added that after beginning well, when Casino Mondial and Bravio held their positions to his inside and to avoid being caught wide and without cover, he allowed Big Bad Bruce to stride forward and ultimately settle in a more prominent position than he had intended.

Faith In Kind– Began only fairly and from a wide barrier then was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

RACE 7: TAB Handicap 1200m:

Celer – Bumped on jumping by Lord Zoulander, which shifted out, and from a wide barrier then was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Accelerato – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

Rafha's Choice – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages and near the 900m was steadied from the heels of Coco Cuber, which shifted out before being corrected by its rider. Rafha's Choice then continued to race keenly for a short distance thereafter. Briefly held up rounding the home turn.

Miss Sure Shot – After beginning only fairly then was inconvenienced by Coolotta, which shifted out. As a consequence Miss Sure Shot was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Held up rounding the home turn and did not obtain clear running until approaching the 200m when shifted to the outside of Coolotta. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Front Money – Began awkwardly, shifted out making contact with Coolotta. Laid out rounding the home turn and when under pressure in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Rider T. Berry will be interviewed regarding his riding out of Front Money over the concluding stages.

Coco Cuber – Stewards permitted K. Latham to ride the gelding a half kilogram over its allotted weight of 54.5kgs. Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the early stages and near the 900m improved on to the heels of Vreneli and was checked. Continued to race keenly for some distance thereafter.
