Race 1 - SKY RACING ACTIVE PLATE (1100 METRES):

Formentera – Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly.

Hot Spring Gold – Began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with the hind quarters of Tip Top Timing and lost ground.  When asked for an explanation for the colts poor performance rider N. Rawiller stated that after beginning very awkwardly and losing ground Hot Spring Gold travelled fairly throughout the early and middle stages.  He added when the opportunity to make ground presented when the pace slackened leaving the 500m he shifted the colt to the outside of the heels of Formentera to make ground however Hot Spring Gold commenced to hang out and continued to race disingenuously for the remainder of the event.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  Trainer M. Newnham informed Stewards that the colt would be immediately spelled at which time it would also be gelded.

Long Weekend The colt was a late scratching at 9:05am acting on veterinary advice after aggravating an old wound to its near foreleg.  Trainer G. Portelli was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to Long Weekend being permitted to race or trial again.

Never Never River – Passing the 500m improved up onto the heels of Code Breaker and had to be steadied.  Held up for clearing running rounding the home turn and until approaching the 300m and then when placed under full pressure had a tendency to lay in.

Tip Top Timing – On jumping was bumped heavily on the hind quarters by Hot Spring Gold and became badly unbalanced.  Taken wider rounding the home turn by Hot Spring Gold which shifted out to improve.

Race 2 - BISLEY WORKWEAR PLATE (1100 METRES):

Canadian Spice – For some distance passing the 700m overraced at the heels of Forbidden Love.  Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.

Drizzle – A post-race veterinary examination reveal the filly to have blood present in its near side nostril.  Trainer C. Waller was advised that Drizzle will be required to trial or gallop 1000m to the satisfaction of the Stewards before being permitted to race again.

Forbidden Love – Began awkwardly and then was bumped shortly after the start by Heroess.

Heroess – The filly which was fractious in the barriers began awkwardly shifted in and bumped Forbidden Love.

Latin Lyric – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Miss Canada – Was held up rounding the home turn and passing the 300m had to be shifted to the outside of the heels of Forbidden Love to secure clear running.  Laid out under pressure over the final 50m.

Raison D'Etre – Began awkwardly and lost ground.  For some distance passing the 700m overraced at the heels of Miss Canada.  Held up approaching and rounding the home turn until passing the 200m.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be displaying poor post-race recovery.  Stable representative D. Beadman was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to Raison D'Etre being permitted to race or trial again.

Too Much Class – Slow to begin.

Wild Irish – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

Xylaroo – Was hampered on jumping by Forbidden Jewel which shifted in. From a wide barrier was then shifted behind runners in the early stages.  An explanation was sought from rider N. Rawiller with respect to his riding of the filly rounding the home turn and in particular whether there was an opportunity to shift out to a position immediately trailing Drizzle when it improved into the race approaching the 400m.  Rider N. Rawiller stated that Xylaroo was a big striding filly and passing the 500m when obliged to race in restricted room between Drizzle and Raison D'Etre, Xylaroo became unbalanced.  He added that as a consequence he felt it was in the best interest of the filly to keep it balanced rounding the home turn rather than place Xylaroo under pressure and shift it wider on the track.  While Stewards acknowledge that Xylaroo became unbalanced passing the 500m when racing in restricted room they nevertheless informed N. Rawiller that in their view the most advantageous option would have been to shift to a trailling position on the back of Drizzle approaching the 400m which would have enabled him to shift wider in the early part of the straight and give the filly clear and uninterrupted running to the finishing line. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a small laceration to the off-hind pastern.

Race 3 - HYLAND RACE COLOURS PLATE (1300 METRES):

McGraw – Arrived late on course, was examined by the clubs veterinary officer and deemed suitable to race.  Trainer Mr M. Attard was fined the sum of $100 under LR35 for failing to declare R. Brewer as the rider of the gelding by the prescribed time.  Began awkwardly.  Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.    A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was beaten 25 lengths, revealed no abnormalities.  Trainer M. Attard was advise that McGraw will be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before being permitted to race again.

Activation – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Battleground – Raced fiercely and refused to settle throughout the early and middle stages.

Bob's Your Uncle – Was crowded on jumping between Electric Daisy and Battleground both of which shifted ground.  A short distance after the start Bob's Your Uncle and Battleground made contact resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced.  Was unable to be tested inside the 50m after improving onto the heels of Battleground.

Flinders – Was held up rounding the home turn until passing the 200m.  T. Marquand rider of Twice As Special pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that over the concluding stages he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Flinders contributing to that runner having to be checked approaching the winning post when crowded between Twice As Special and Battleground which shifted out slightly.  T. Marquand's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Friday 3 April 2020 at the expiration of a suspension incurred at Newcastle on Thursday 19 March 2020 and to expire on Saturday 11 April 2020 on which day he may ride.

Natanya – For some distance approaching the 200m was reluctant to race to the inside of Bob's Your Uncle and near the 200m when Bob's Your Uncle shifted in, shied away from that gelding and became very unbalanced resulting in the mare having to be checked by its rider. Natanya was not tested over the final 100m.

Electric Daisy – Passing the 500m improved up onto the heels of Natanya and had to be steadied.

Twice As Special – Began only fairly and from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.  Rounding the home turn and when placed under pressure in the home straight had a tendency to hang in and had to be corrected by its rider near the 200m.  Shifted ground inwards when under pressure over the concluding stages.

Race 4 - TAB HANDICAP (2400 METRES):

Fairlight – Bumped on jumping away.

Monsieur Sisu – Had a tendency to lay in throughout the event.

Corncrake – Bumped on jumping away.

Impavido – Slow to begin (2L).

Parry Sound – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

Chat – Began awkwardly and shifted out abruptly.

Gironde – Race wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Good Stock – Was hampered on jumping by Capri Lane which was taken out.  When asked why he did not lead on the gelding, which is in accordance with its customary riding pattern, rider T. Clark stated that after beginning only fairly and when it was evident that both Chat and Capri Lane, drawn to his inside, both showed intent to lead, he felt it was in the geldings best interest to trail these runners particularly considering the gelding was up in grade today.

Starla – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Kavalmo – Slow to begin.  Held up rounding the home turn on the heels of Good Stock. Could not be fully tested over the concluding stages after improving onto the heels of Capri Lane.

Rockarosa – Was held up for clear running in the early part of the straight and passing the 300m became awkwardly placed on the heels of Havin' Fun and had to be steadied.  Then had to be shifted to the inside of the heels of Camp Rifle to secure clear running near the 150m and over the concluding stages was again held up for clear running and unable to be fully tested after improving onto the heels of Good Stock.

Capri Lane – Was crowded on jumping by Chat which shifted out.
