A capacity field of 16 two-year-old’s were accepted for the opening race at Rosehill on Saturday, the $125,000, The Agency Real Estate Handicap (1100m) as the race for the holy grail of the $3.5m, Group 1 Longines Golden Slipper (1200m) on March 20th at the same track continues.
Just three have raced previously, Sing A Love Song, Baranot and O’President for two fourths and a sixth respectively.
Included in the acceptances are trial winners Divina and Remarque. A Star Thoroughbred syndicated runner, Divina, comes to race day off two trials and two wins. The filly by Astern won over 900m at Rosehill on January 4th with a half-length margin.
Remarque is a Snitzel colt from the Hawkes’ stable racing for the Arrowfield and Yoshida ownership combination. He cleaned up a trial over 900m on the 4th by 3 3/4L. Remargue has barrier 11 for Tommy Berry and Divina barrier 15.
Godolphin’s Exceed And Excel colt Zethus was fourth to Remarque in the trial on the 4th and he starts with barrier 10 under Rachel King. Zethus has the interesting pedigree of being out of the duel stakes placed Elusive Quality mare Melpomene who is out of the 2002 Group 1 VRC Oaks winner Bulla Borghese.
The race starts at 12.55pm.
Overall there are 112 acceptances for the nine race programme.
