Three-time Grade 1 Finian's Oscar dies following attack of colic

Finian's Oscar, a three-time Grade 1 winner and rising star for Colin Tizzard and owners the late Ann and Alan Potts, has died aged six from complications following an attack of colic.

Winner of the Manifesto Novices' Chase at Aintree last season, Finian's Oscar also claimed the Mersey Novices' Hurdle at the same track in 2017, while his other Grade 1 success came in Sandown's Tolworth Novices' Hurdle.

From 13 career starts, the son of Oscar won seven times, and earned connections £220,396 in total prize-money.

He was last seen running at the Punchestown festival in April, where he was involved in the dramatic finish to the Champion Novice Chase won by The Storyteller.

Approaching the last fence, Finian's Oscar was poised to challenge for victory under Robbie Power, but was carried out by Al Boum Photo.
