Sky Racing’s form expert, TONY BRASSEL, checks out prospective winners after some super trials in NSW and QLD.

(3f, Capitalist – Pokazi, Peter and Will Hulbert)
Gearing up for a bit of a debut following four barrier trials. Won a Gold Coast heat on August 16 then did she stand out finishing third in a Doomben heat (1000m) on Tuesday. ‘Heavily restrained’ is a real understatement! Just check out SKY’s vision.

COTEHELE (RWICK 10 Sept, Heat 2)
(3c, Tavistock – Bequests, John O’Shea)
Escalated quickly from a debut Newcastle win last April to midfield in TIGER OF MALAY’s Group 2 QTC Sires’ Produce at start three. He’s back ticking along beautifully after two tidy trials, most recently last week’s fourth to MADAM LEGEND over 1040m at Randwick. Great sign when they match strides with experienced rivals.
TAB: $51 Spring Champion Stakes

(4m, Sebring – Champagne Harmony, Chris Waller)
Can’t help but include her for a second recent ‘File’ slot – she went terrific at the Gold Coast on September 6. Then hidden from view but hard to miss at Rosehill this week, running second to stablemate ZA CEIBAS. Team Waller has been sending out quite a few winners after their Queensland barrier trials.
TAB: $51 Golden Eagle

REFERO (DOOMBEN 14 Sept, Heat 9)
(3g, I Am Invincible – Ella Listo, Tony Gollan)
His runaway stablemate SALATEEN dominated their 1000m heat and both are by mighty sire I AM INVINCIBLE. But I suspect this three-race veteran may be the better prospect in coming weeks. He cruised around under a big grip for third and looked fresh and keen to increase speed. Won first-up last prep.

Check out the trial replays on the SKY website Catch Up.

ROCHA CLOCK (RWICK 10 Sept, Heat 1)
(5m, Tavistock – Bequests, John O’Shea)
Group 3 winner at Scone last preparation. Took on some of our glamour gallopers including stablemate LOST AND RUNNING when fifth to CLASSIQUE LEGEND at Randwick on September 10. Appeared to trial as well, if not better than some top notch rivals.
TAB: $51 The Invitation; $51 Empire Rose Stakes

(3g, Better Than Ready – Ridolfi, Steve O’Dea and Matthew Hoysted)
He can run a second! We’ve only seen him race once for second PRINCE OF BOOM at the Sunny Coast in May. Also second in two recent trials, most recently at Tuesday’s Doomben session. Closed relentlessly behind the talented EVERLAST – looks like he’ll be well-primed come raceday.

TILLOTSON (RWICK 10 Sept, Heat 8)
(3f, Deep Field – Jerry’s Witness, John Thompson)
Races in the same colours as her Deep Field-sired stablemate FITUESE. She’s a chunky chestnut too and galloped well off the inside rail to trounce rivals. Unplaced at Newcastle upon debut, then spelled, but sure to be winning her way out of maiden grade shortly.

UNCAGED (RWICK 10 Sept, Heat 9)
(3g, Bobby’s Kitten – Sense And Reason, Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott)
Clocked the same time as EDUARDO (43.82s) in leading throughout at Randwick last Friday. He’s a speedball by the winner of 2014’s Group 1 Breeders’ Cup Sprint (1300m). This big fellow enjoyed his spin over the short course after two out-of-town defeats in April-May. Burly, so may trial again before resuming.
