Race 5

#10 U W Brother arrives fit and ready to go following a terrific effort in defeat last start when heavily supported. The favourable draw allows similar catch me if you can tactics to unfold with Moreira likely to hold the aces throughout the run. His increased body weight in recent months implies a gain in strength which has been prevalent the final 100m of his last three runs. If he could learn to settle he would run further and go higher but that shall take time judged on his current mindset.
#11 Travel Datuk has now had forty six starts without a victory so it is fair to say he must be taken on trust. On a positive note Alexis Badel jumps back aboard and he is flying on the crest of a wave, so perhaps that momentum can help get him over the line. The pace shall suit and his recent efforts are difficult to fault, he just needs that luck from the racing and galloping gods.
#3 Simply Fluke has favours tonight despite the fact his wins have been over the longer trip of 1200m. The claim for Jerry Chau is gold and the draw allows him flexibility to position up through the initial stages. I am hoping he is given a solid warm up prior to the jump because if he is in close proximity at the final furlong he is the one I want to be on.
#2 Tom's Style raced well in the easier grade and comes under notice for trainer Francis Lui who is having a fantastic season. He appears the improver at a price and should receive the speed required to suit his pattern of racing.  The draw makes it tough but you will get a price because of it.
#5 Farm Bumper’s had excuses since his excellent win first up but he is a frustrating and inconsistent type. He is allocated the fifth selection ahead of Oversubscribe, who himself is a rough chance even from the draw. Chad Schofield’s presence in the saddle on Farm Bumper was the deciding factor with the pair rarely getting it wrong when they have hooked up in the past.

Race 9

#8 Shouson has drawn wide but I am happy enough to tip him each way in the last on the card.  It has been a while since he saluted but I am hopeful he will be ridden cold as he was too far back when also drawing deep. He has been in the care of trainer Tony Millard this season who’s not afraid to change race tactics around. He rated exceptional two runs back when ridden patiently and I am hoping they try it again.
#2 Scores of Fun is a genuine and consistent type for trainer John Size but it does appear he is getting close to his mark. It is difficult to leave him out due to the jockey booking and handy barrier, but he will need to keep on lifting. The speed map says he will likely box seat which is why he is again up high in the tips.
#5 Capital Star is a former Australian galloper who is the query runner first up with Moreira booked for the ride.  His trials have been encouraging as was his overseas form but he does meet some seasoned Class 3 rivals. The winning formula down under was tactical and diverse so the market is likely your best guide. Nevertheless he is a scopy individual that should impact early and he handles all types of ground.
#1 Mig Energy as previously documented produces his best efforts when held up for one dash over the final 400m. With Flying Bonus likely to set a cracking tempo the race should be run to suit most, with all a chance to earn prize money. Jerry Chau’s claim is again crucial and he is definitely a legitimate winning chance.
#7 Flying Bonus is a seasoned Class 3 horse who generally leads for fun but struggles to find the line. The stable tonight have opted away from the senior rider and in favour of the 7lb claimer with Alfred Chan booked for the mount. A highly strategic move from trainer Dennis Yip and he must be further respected.
