Sydney Specials

A week is a long time in racing and after getting the cash with our two selections last Saturday, I cannot say I am anywhere near as confident this weekend.

Just a bit of a nothing meeting with a few handy ones returning, though no strong push for them either way.

It took me to Race 9 before I found something and it comes up in the shape of the Chris Waller trained Il Affare.

Solid in both starts to begin this preparation, she now steps up to the mile and a key switch with McDonald going aboard from the soft draw.

Found the line well enough behind her stablemate Frumos last start, a form-line we've already made money from.

Both her career wins have been over this trip and she should be right at her peak third up.

Rates clear off her last start and with more improvement expected, she should take some holding out.

In the final event the James Cummings trained Glittery will need some luck from the wide draw, however the ease at which she won last start suggests she can win again.

A winner of two of her three starts this time in, she has clearly relished the wet tracks and is a mare trending the right way.

She was backed off the map at Warwick Farm last start and won easily under Reece Jones with Bowman taking over on Saturday.

Gives weight away to a majority of her rivals, however they look to be treading water whereas she is on an upward spiral.

When assessing Timeform weight adjusted ratings she sits clear off her last start and I'd be surprised if there wasn't more to come.

By the last Bowman will know where he needs to be and trust him to find the right ground.

With each-way odds around about her chances she looks a great bet to round out the day.
