We have 10 of the best at headquarters on Saturday in what looks a fairly deep Quaddie with the ninth a real head scratcher.
The Ryan & Alexiou trained The Face has been rock solid in both starts to begin this preparation and should be right at his peak in the fourth event. Having only gone down narrowly first up, he proved very game in the Gosford Guineas last start when second behind Forbidden Love.
Eye-balled and broke Malkovich (since won) on that occasion and looks to now get his own way in front for Innes. Lines up against a few nice types resuming, but has the key fitness edge and looks better suited dropping back to 1100m.
Like him kept fresh (25 days) and if able to hold his form, he should take plenty of catching. Have him marked 5/4, so there is a little edge there in the early price.
The Team Hawkes trained Bandersnatch could be unbeaten this prep, after a horror show two back at Flemington, before only narrowly beaten behind King Of Hastings last start.
Was 28 days between runs there and now looks well set up, back to 1400m (pet trip). Gets the winkers on for the first time and looks very well placed down in the weights for Berry. Drawn to lob leader's back (Cradle Mountain), just hope he doesn't get trapped in the coffin again.
Certainly respect the John Thompson trained Chat, though Bandersnatch looks to have a big map advantage, with the former likely to be again ridden cold. Close to 2-1 is being offered about his chances, which looks a more than worthy gamble.
With even luck, he should go very close.
