The Victorian government has granted permission for five of Sydney's leading jockeys to participate in the Melbourne spring carnival.
Moonee Valley Racing Club CEO Michael Browell confirmed on twitter that Hugh Bowman, James McDonald and Glen Boss will all ride in Saturday week’s W.S. Cox Plate after receiving official clearance on Thursday.
McDonald will reunite with the Annabel Neasham-trained race favourite Zaaki (GB) while Bowman jumps aboard stablemate Mo’Unga (NZ), with Boss on Sir Dragonet (Ire).
Kerrin McEvoy and Ms Rachel King have also been cleared to head south for the Melbourne Cup carnival a week later.
The W.S. Cox Plate trio will all ride at The Everest meeting at Randwick on Saturday before travelling to Victoria where they are expected to complete a six-day quarantine period. They will also need to return negative tests to COVID before riding at The Valley.
