FLYING MIGHTY was crowded for room on jumping between HYPERION TREE and CROWN AVENUE which shifted in.
MAKE IT TURBO began awkwardly and then from a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Also from wide barriers, EEVEE, WEALTHY EMPLOYEE and FLASH FAMOUS were steadied to obtain a position closer to the rail.
After travelling a short distance, TURF BRILLIANT was brushed by ORIENTAL AMIGO which was racing tight inside SKY GEM.
After passing the winning post on the first occasion, GO BALLISTIC shifted in and bumped ORIENTAL AMIGO.
After the 1800 Metres, GREAT TREASURE was momentarily steadied away from the heels of SKY GEM.
Passing the 1600 Metres, CROWN AVENUE was left racing wide and without cover.
Passing the 1200 Metres, EEVEE was awkwardly placed behind TURF BRILLIANT.
WEALTHY EMPLOYEE lost its left front plate approaching the 1000 Metres.
At the entrance to the Straight, GO BALLISTIC raced in restricted room between CROWN AVENUE and AMAZING BOY (Z Purton) which shifted out away from the heels of ORIENTAL AMIGO as that horse came under pressure. Z Purton was advised to exercise care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Approaching the 300 Metres, TURF BRILLIANT raced close to the heels of CROWN AVENUE when initially disappointed for running between that horse and SKY GEM which shifted in. TURF BRILLIANT then had some difficulty obtaining clear running passing the 250 Metres.
A veterinary inspection of EEVEE immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, EEVEE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of FLYING MIGHTY immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
A veterinary inspection of AMAZING BOY and FORTUNE PATROL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
AMAZING BOY, TURF BRILLIANT and HYPERION TREE were sent for sampling.

Race:2 (752) SPESSARTINE GARNET HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1200 m

As the start was effected, BLISSFUL LIFE reared and lost a significant amount of ground. Before being allowed to race again, BLISSFUL LIFE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial.
EASY LIFE stumbled at the start.
CHICKEN DANCE and FIGHTING STAR bumped at the start.
JIANGXI STAMINA and MIGHTY STAR were tightened for room on jumping between UNIVERSAL CROWN which shifted out and SUPER KINGDOM which shifted in after bumping KOKUSHI MUSOU. After this, from a wide barrier, SUPER KINGDOM was shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
After being steadied in the early stages, KOKUSHI MUSOU travelled wide and without cover after the 900 Metres.
Passing the 800 Metres and again near the 700 Metres, LUCK STAR raced tight inside LUCKY EIGHT which shifted in marginally.
Passing the 650 Metres, FIGHTING STAR and UNIVERSAL CROWN raced tight as FIGHTING STAR shifted out away from the heels of INFINITY WIN.
A veterinary inspection of FIGHTING STAR immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. After returning to the stable, FIGHTING STAR was reported to have bled from both nostrils and accordingly the horse was deemed to have bled.
A veterinary inspection of BLISSFUL LIFE and KOKUSHI MUSOU immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
LUCKY EIGHT and CHICKEN DANCE were sent for sampling.

Race:3 (753) SPESSARTINE GARNET HANDICAP (Sec2) Class 4 1200 m

OVER THE MOON began only fairly.
KARUIZAWA shifted in at the start and inconvenienced SEATOSKY.
DREAM CATCHER and EASY SNIP bumped on two occasions on jumping, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.
After the 1100 Metres, STAND UP commenced to travel keenly when being steadied in an attempt to obtain cover. STAND UP was then left racing wide and without cover near the 850 Metres at which time the horse became unbalanced when bumped by BEAUTY TYCOON which shifted out.
Passing the 1000 Metres, SPLENDID STAR was momentarily awkwardly placed behind BEAUTY TYCOON.
Passing the 900 Metres, CALIFORNIA VANES was steadied away from the heels of COMPASSION SUPER which got its head on the side and shifted out abruptly.
STAND UP lost its left hind plate at the 400 Metres.
Passing the 400 Metres, EASY SNIP was steadied away from the heels of STAND UP after racing close to the heels of that horse.
Approaching the 100 Metres, HAPPY HERO momentarily had difficulty obtaining clear running when being directed to the outside of REGENT GLORY to continue improving.
Throughout the race, REGENT GLORY travelled wide and without cover.
J Moreira stated that, from barrier 13, he was asked to ride BEAUTY TYCOON positively and obtain a position in the first four. He said after BEAUTY TYCOON began satisfactorily, he rode his mount along in the early stages to obtain a forward position, however, despite being ridden along BEAUTY TYCOON did not show as much early speed as he anticipated and REGENT GLORY, which was drawn immediately inside BEAUTY TYCOON, showed more speed than his mount. He said he therefore elected to shift his mount across behind runners with a view to obtaining a position behind KING ECCELLENTE in about midfield. He said as he was shifting BEAUTY TYCOON across, his mount was very awkwardly placed outside the heels of EASY SNIP near the 1050 Metres as that horse was being steadied to a position behind DREAM CATCHER. He said as a result of BEAUTY TYCOON having to be steadied, this allowed SEATOSKY to improve its position to be racing behind KING ECCELLENTE and which resulted in BEAUTY TYCOON having to race in a three wide position. He added that passing the 1000 Metres BEAUTY TYCOON got its head up when being checked away from the heels of EASY SNIP which at this time was being steadied to obtain cover behind REGENT GLORY. He said BEAUTY TYCOON travelled keenly and got its head up on a number of occasions when racing close to the heels of EASY SNIP approaching and passing the 800 Metres. He said near the 700 Metres BEAUTY TYCOON commenced to travel more comfortably and as the race had been run at a moderate tempo in the early and middle stages, he elected to shift to the outside of EASY SNIP approaching the 500 Metres as he was concerned that if he remained racing behind that horse rounding the Home Turn, this would allow horses, which had been racing up on the pace, the opportunity to obtain more of an advantage over BEAUTY TYCOON. He said after making the Home Turn wide, BEAUTY TYCOON quickened well and then finished the race off strongly in the Straight.
CALIFORNIA VANES and BEAUTY TYCOON were sent for sampling.

Race:4 (754) TOPAZ HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1600 m

ON EXCEL STAR, which bumped a rail on entering the track, was examined by the Veterinary Officer at the barriers and passed suitable to race.
FOREVER GLORIOUS began awkwardly and then lost ground when crowded for room between ETERNAL BLOOM and CHEVALIER PRINCE, both of which shifted ground. A short distance after this, CHEVALIER PRINCE was bumped by ON EXCEL STAR which shifted in.
FIERY FLYING began awkwardly.
PALACE PAL shifted out on jumping, resulting in LEISURE AND GOLD and TURQUOISE ALPHA being hampered. After this, from the outside barriers, PALACE PAL and TURQUOISE ALPHA were shifted across behind runners to obtain cover.
LET’S DO IT travelled keenly in the early stages and passing the 1200 Metres got its head up when being crossed by BEAUTY NOVA. After this, LET’S DO IT continued to prove difficult to settle.
After the 1100 Metres, CHEVALIER PRINCE was left racing wide and without cover.
FIERY FLYING travelled keenly approaching and passing the 1000 Metres.
Making the turn after the 900 Metres, ETERNAL BLOOM was momentarily crowded for room between KING TOURBILLON and DECISIVE ACTION which shifted out when awkwardly placed close to the heels of BEAUTY SPIRIT.
Rounding the Home Turn, LET’S DO IT shifted out and bumped KING TOURBILLON.
Passing the 400 Metres, ETERNAL BLOOM was shifted in away from the heels of KING TOURBILLON. DECISIVE ACTION, which was racing inside ETERNAL BLOOM, momentarily raced tight inside that horse in consequence.
Over the final 100 Metres, DECISIVE ACTION was awkwardly placed inside the heels of ETERNAL BLOOM when attempting to improve between that horse and BEAUTY NOVA.
Close to the finishing line, ETERNAL BLOOM raced tight inside KING TOURBILLON which got its head on the side and shifted in away from HANG’S DECISION which itself was racing tight inside TURQUOISE ALPHA.
After the race, L Currie reported that, in his opinion, ETERNAL BLOOM may not have handled the step-up in distance to 1600 Metres today at this stage of its career.
CHEVALIER PRINCE and LET’S DO IT were sent for sampling.

Race:5 (755) THE PREMIER PLATE (HANDICAP) (Sec1) Group Three 1800 m

Whilst in the saddling stalls, SAVVY NINE had a nail in its right front plate replaced. SAVVY NINE was examined by the Veterinary Officer on arrival at the barriers and passed suitable to race.
MIGHTY GIANT was slow to begin.
TOURBILLON DIAMOND and BERLIN TANGO bumped at the start.
From the outside barriers, EXCELLENT PROPOSAL, SAVVY NINE and BUTTERFIELD were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Rounding the Home Turn, COLUMBUS COUNTY raced in restricted room between BUTTERFIELD and TURIN REDSUN.
In the early part of the Straight, BUTTERFIELD got its head on the side and lay in towards the heels of TOURBILLON DIAMOND.
Approaching the 200 Metres, CHAMPION’S WAY shifted out and raced tight inside the hindquarters of TOURBILLON DIAMOND.
Close to the finishing line, EXCELLENT PROPOSAL was awkwardly placed close to the heels of KA YING STAR when being shifted to the outside of that horse. Because of this, EXCELLENT PROPOSAL was not able to be ridden out all the way to the end of the race.
When questioned regarding his riding of TURIN REDSUN after the 700 Metres, M F Poon stated that he was instructed to obtain a position behind the speed in the early stages. He said he was able to obtain a good position behind CHAMPION’S WAY in the early stages and then continued to follow that horse rounding the turn after the 900 Metres. He said after the 650 Metres he was aware that TOURBILLON DIAMOND was commencing to improve its position around TURIN REDSUN, however, as he was of the view that CHAMPION’S WAY was a horse which would take him into the race, he elected not to shift to the outside of that horse as he felt that shifting out into a position without cover at the 600 Metres and commencing his run may be too early and which would not allow TURIN REDSUN to close the race off. He said he therefore elected to remain racing behind CHAMPION’S WAY and allowed TOURBILLON DIAMOND to improve around his mount near the 600 Metres. He added that after the 500 Metres he commenced to shift out to follow TOURBILLON DIAMOND, however, COLUMBUS COUNTY was improving its position to the outside of TURIN REDSUN and as that horse was racing tight inside BUTTERFIELD, he was not able to shift out. He said at the entrance to the Straight he was able to shift out to race behind TOURBILLON DIAMOND and attempted to improve to the outside of that horse, however, BUTTERFIELD improved its position around TURIN REDSUN which resulted in him not being able to shift out at this time. He said TURIN REDSUN then had difficulty obtaining clear running until approaching the 100 Metres after which the horse finished the race off strongly. M F Poon further stated that in preparing for today’s race he had noted that at its last start TURIN REDSUN had reached the lead near the 300 Metres, however, in his opinion, then did not finish the race off strongly over the latter stages to finish in third position. He added that given what eventuated rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight he was of the opinion that TURIN REDSUN’s best interests would have been better served by being shifted to the outside of CHAMPION’S WAY approaching the 600 Metres, however, maintained that at the time he was of the opinion that CHAMPION’S WAY would be able to take him into the race and reiterated his concern about TURIN REDSUN having to commence its run from the 600 Metres. The Stewards contacted Mr D J Whyte, the trainer of TURIN REDSUN, who was not able to be on course for today’s meeting. Mr Whyte expressed disappointment that TURIN REDSUN was not shifted to the outside of CHAMPION’S WAY when the opportunity presented itself approaching the 600 Metres. M F Poon was told that, in the opinion of the Stewards, he had erred in not commencing to shift to the outside of CHAMPION’S WAY approaching the 600 Metres which would not have allowed TOURBILLON DIAMOND the opportunity to improve around TURIN REDSUN. He was severely reprimanded and told to ensure that he positions his mounts in such a manner to allow them the best opportunity to improve into the race at the appropriate time and to obtain clear running.
A veterinary inspection of EXCELLENT PROPOSAL immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
TOURBILLON DIAMOND and TURIN REDSUN were sent for sampling.

Race:6 (756) EMERALD HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1200 m

FLY ON EARTH began only fairly.
BEAUTY CHARGE began awkwardly and then was crowded for room on jumping between BRILLIANT WAY and ARMOUR EAGLE which initially shifted out and then shifted further after becoming unbalanced as a result of being bumped on the hindquarters by BEAUTY CHARGE.
MIDORI BEAUTY began awkwardly and lost ground. Then when being shifted across behind runners to obtain cover in the early stages, MIDORI BEAUTY travelled keenly after the 1000 Metres and then was left racing wide and without cover passing the 800 Metres.
REGENCY BO BO and SUPER KING were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
After the 1000 Metres, BEAUTY CHARGE commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of BRILLIANT WAY. After this, BEAUTY CHARGE continued to travel keenly and after the 800 Metres was again steadied away from the heels of BRILLIANT WAY. Then passing the 700 Metres, BEAUTY CHARGE was checked away from the heels of BRILLIANT WAY which was awkwardly placed behind KING LAND.
At the entrance to the Straight, BEAUTY CHARGE raced close to the heels of MIDORI BEAUTY when being shifted to the outside of that horse to obtain clear running.
Near the 25 Metres, KILINDINI shifted out away from the heels of JUMBO FORTUNE which shifted to the outside of EIGHT TRIGRAMS.
Throughout the race, KING LAND and SPIRITED EXPRESS travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, A Badel stated that it was intended for BRILLIANT WAY to again be ridden in a forward position today. He said BRILLIANT WAY began only fairly and then became unbalanced after bumping BEAUTY CHARGE shortly after the start. He said this resulted in BRILLIANT WAY racing further back in the field today than had been intended. He said BRILLIANT WAY did not appear to be comfortable when racing amongst runners and travelled keenly in the middle stages when the pace of the race was not strong. He added that he shifted BRILLIANT WAY to the outside of runners in the early part of the Straight, however, the horse did not finish the race off as strongly as it has in recent starts. A veterinary inspection of BRILLIANT WAY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of SPIRITED EXPRESS, ARMOUR EAGLE and MIDORI BEAUTY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BRILLIANT WAY, EIGHT TRIGRAMS and JUMBO FORTUNE were sent for sampling.

Race:7 (757) THE PREMIER CUP (HANDICAP) (Sec1) Group Three 1400 m

BLAZE WARRIOR began only fairly.
LUCKY EXPRESS was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
At the 400 Metres, LUCKY EXPRESS raced tight inside the hindquarters of CHEERFUL DAYS which shifted in. In this incident, CHEERFUL DAYS became unbalanced after being bumped on the hindquarters by LUCKY EXPRESS.
Passing the 200 Metres, STRONGER raced tight inside LUCKY PATCH which shifted in.
When questioned, C L Chau stated that it was intended for LUCKY PATCH to be ridden with cover behind the leaders. He said he anticipated that SILVER EXPRESS may be ridden positively in the early stages and cross STRONGER to its inside which would allow LUCKY PATCH the opportunity to race to that horse’s outside. He said he rode his mount along in the early stages to obtain a forward position and when SILVER EXPRESS was also being ridden along shortly after the start and STRONGER was being steadied to SILVER EXPRESS’ inside, he anticipated that SILVER EXPRESS would continue to improve forward of STRONGER. He said at the 1200 Metres it became apparent that SILVER EXPRESS was being ridden to maintain its position outside STRONGER and as there was a gap behind that horse, he attempted to steady LUCKY PATCH to obtain cover behind SILVER EXPRESS. He said when he did this, LUCKY PATCH commenced to travel strongly and would not relax sufficiently for him to be able to steady and obtain a position behind SILVER EXPRESS. He added that when this happened CALIFORNIADEEPSHOT and HEALTHY HAPPY were ridden positively outside LUCKY PATCH and therefore it was not available to him to improve forward of SILVER EXPRESS which resulted in LUCKY PATCH being left racing wide and without cover passing the 900 Metres. A veterinary inspection of LUCKY PATCH immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
When questioned, Z Purton stated that BEAUTY JOY began only fairly and then became unbalanced on jumping as a result of being bumped by SILVER EXPRESS. He said this resulted in BEAUTY JOY losing ground and having to race at the rear of the field in the early stages. He said BEAUTY JOY was not fluent in its action in the early stages and despite being ridden along was reluctant to improve its position to join onto the main body of the field. He said he continued to ride the horse along after the 1300 Metres, however, BEAUTY JOY, which was racing on its wrong lead leg, would not improve its position. He added that prior to the first turn BEAUTY JOY commenced to travel more comfortably and passing the 800 Metres commenced to travel better. He said he continued to ride BEAUTY JOY along and after shifting the horse to the outside of runners in the early part of the Straight BEAUTY JOY then finished the race off strongly. He said he was unable to explain BEAUTY JOY’s racing manners in the early stages of today’s race other than the horse has at times been difficult to manage in its races.
A veterinary inspection of STRONGER and SILVER EXPRESS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
BEAUTY JOY and LUCKY EXPRESS were sent for sampling.

Race:8 (758) LAPIS LAZULI HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1400 m

At the time of declaration, K H Chan notified a probable overweight of 2 lbs in respect of DIVINE ERA’s weight of 112 lbs having regard to Jockey Chan’s 5 lb allowance. After weighing out 2 lbs overweight as declared, Jockey Chan weighed in at 115 lbs. As Jockey Chan weighed in 3 lbs over the weight notified at the time of declaration having regard to his allowance, he was fined the sum of $7,500.
EMBARKED, which bumped a rail on the way to the Start, was examined by the Veterinary Officer at the barriers and passed suitable to race.
PRIDE OF EIGHT was slow to begin and then lost ground after shifting in at the start and having to be steadied away from the heels of LOVE ME MORE which began awkwardly and bumped COURAGEOUS KNIGHT.
HANDSOME GUYS shifted out at the start and bumped AMAZING VICTORY which on jumping lifted its front feet off the ground and began only fairly.
From the outside barriers, WIDE BLUE YONDER and PRIDE OF DRAGON were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 1100 Metres, LOVE ME MORE commenced to travel keenly when racing tight between EMBARKED and COURAGEOUS KNIGHT. After this, LOVE ME MORE continued to travel keenly for some distance.
Near the 1100 Metres, TRUST ME was steadied away from the heels of HANDSOME GUYS (H W Lai) which shifted in when not properly clear. H W Lai was reprimanded.
Approaching the 900 Metres, TRUST ME was left racing wide and without cover.
Near the 650 Metres, NOWITZKI was bumped by ANGELS HUNTER which lay in.
At the entrance to the Straight, ROCKPAPERSCISSORS shifted out and bumped LOVE ME MORE.
PRIDE OF EIGHT was held up for clear running in the early part of the Straight and then raced close to the heels of LOVE ME MORE when being shifted to the outside of that horse passing the 400 Metres. PRIDE OF EIGHT was then hampered passing the 350 Metres by LOVE ME MORE which, after being brushed by ROCKPAPERSCISSORS, shifted out away from that horse. COURAGEOUS KNIGHT, which was racing to the outside of PRIDE OF EIGHT, was inconvenienced in consequence.
The performances of NOWITZKI, PRIDE OF DRAGON, COURAGEOUS KNIGHT and HANDSOME GUYS, all of which finished tailed out, were considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, NOWITZKI, PRIDE OF DRAGON, COURAGEOUS KNIGHT and HANDSOME GUYS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of PRIDE OF DRAGON immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse’s trachea. A veterinary inspection of NOWITZKI, COURAGEOUS KNIGHT and HANDSOME GUYS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
TUCHEL and ROCKPAPERSCISSORS were sent for sampling.

Race:9 (759) SAPPHIRE HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1400 m

SETANTA began only fairly and shifted out towards the heels of GRACYLOVE.
ERIMO shifted out at the start and bumped EN POINTE.
EN POINT lost its right front plate on jumping.
TRIPLE TRIPLE began awkwardly and shifted out, resulting in MR ASCENDENCY being crowded for room inside COMPASSION SPIRIT.
From wide barriers, WEALTHY DELIGHT and COLOURFUL BARON were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 350 Metres, GRACYLOVE was awkwardly placed outside the heels of SAUVESTRE which shifted out.
Approaching the 250 Metres, K Teetan (MR ASCENDENCY) dropped his whip. As this was the 6th occasion this season that K Teetan has been reported to have dropped his whip in races, he was fined the sum of $10,000.
When questioned, L Hewitson stated that it was intended for SUPER TEN to be ridden in a forward position today and possibly sit outside the anticipated leader BEAUTY GLORY. He said after beginning only fairly he rode his mount along in the early stages, however, SUPER TEN did not show early speed as it did at its most recent start and as he believed that it was no longer available to him to obtain as forward a position as possible, he elected, passing the 1300 Metres, to steady his mount and obtain cover so as not to cover unnecessary ground.
After the race, M Chadwick stated that GRACYLOVE was required to race wide and without cover after the 900 Metres and, up in grade, was then not able to finish the race off in the Straight. A veterinary inspection of GRACYLOVE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of ERIMO, J Moreira stated that, from barrier 2, he was able to obtain a good position in the early stages behind the speed. He said ERIMO travelled well in the early and middle stages and he anticipated that the horse would finish the race off well in the Straight. He said that after ERIMO obtained clear running passing the 400 Metres when BEAUTY GLORY shifted away from the rail, his mount did not quicken into the gap as he anticipated and despite being placed under pressure for the remainder of the race was very disappointing in the manner in which it failed to close the race off. A veterinary inspection of ERIMO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of EN POINTE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
ERIMO, SAUVESTRE and KA YING EXCELLENT were sent for sampling.

Race:10 (760) AMETHYST HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1600 m

DELIGHTFUL LAOS was slow to begin.
POWERFUL WINGS began only fairly.
DARCI JOY began awkwardly and bumped the outside of its gate and in doing so shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of ORIENTAL SMOKE.
From the outside barriers, LEADING FORTUNE and VICTORY PARK were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 600 Metres, SECRET VISION was bumped by HIT THE SHOT which improved into tight running between that horse and NEARLY FINE which itself shifted to the outside of POWERFUL WINGS. This resulted in HIT THE SHOT and SECRET VISION becoming unbalanced on a number of occasions.
Passing the 500 Metres, TEMPEST EXPRESS raced tight between DARCI JOY and SUPER OASIS.
At the entrance to the Straight, POWERFUL WINGS was held up for clear running behind ORIENTAL SMOKE.
When questioned, M Chadwick (MASSIVE ACTION) stated that he was instructed to lead today’s race if possible, however, it was anticipated that EXCEPTIONAL NICE, DARCI JOY and ORIENTAL SMOKE may be ridden to obtain forward positions and therefore he was told that rather than engage in a speed battle with any of those horses, it was acceptable for him to take a trailing position. He said in the early stages EXCEPTIONAL NICE was ridden positively to maintain the lead on the rail and he believed that he would have had to make too much use of MASSIVE ACTION to try and cross that horse. He said he therefore elected in the early stages to remain racing to the outside of EXCEPTIONAL NICE. He said after the 1400 Metres ORIENTAL SMOKE improved to the outside of MASSIVE ACTION and rather than ride his mount along to prevent ORIENTAL SMOKE from crossing, he decided to take a trailing position. He said as a gap existed behind EXCEPTIONAL NICE and in advance of POWERFUL WINGS, he shifted his mount across to race behind EXCEPTIONAL NICE after the 1100 Metres. He added that MASSIVE ACTION did not travel strongly in the middle stages and then when being shifted to the outside of EXCEPTIONAL NICE lay in behind that horse and was reluctant to shift away from the rail. He said he continued to persevere to have MASSIVE ACTION shift away from behind EXCEPTIONAL NICE and it was not until after the 300 Metres that he was able to shift to that horse’s outside. He said he placed MASSIVE ACTION under pressure at this time and the horse again lay in behind EXCEPTIONAL NICE. He said after this MASSIVE ACTION continued to lay in under pressure and proved difficult to ride and then over the latter stages gave ground. He said based on the manner in which the horse raced today and particularly its inclination to lay in, in his opinion, MASSIVE ACTION may be best suited at this stage of its career by being able to obtain the rail in the lead. M Chadwick was told that his explanation would be reported, however, in the opinion of the Stewards, he should have made more effort than he did to remain racing outside EXCEPTIONAL NICE rather than shifting across behind that horse. A veterinary inspection of MASSIVE ACTION immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of SUPER OASIS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SECRET VISION and POWERFUL WINGS were sent for sampling.
