EN POINTE, SEASONS BLISS and SOARING TOWER were sent for sampling.

Race:2 (188) BOCHK SME IN ONE HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1400 m

ENCHANTING START shifted in on jumping and bumped THE JOLLY which was crowded for room outside EMERALD SPUR.
GLORIFIED FIRE and CITY LEGEND bumped on jumping.
ISLAND SURPRISE shifted out at the start, resulting in TURQUOISE ALPHA shifting out and bumping MOONLUCK. After this, ISLAND SURPRISE, TURQUOISE ALPHA and MOONLUCK were all steadied from wide barriers to obtain cover.
In the early stages, from the outside barrier, GOOD BUDDY was also steadied to obtain cover.
Approaching the 1100 Metres, GOOD BUDDY commenced to travel keenly and got its head up when being steadied away from the heels of SHENRON which itself was awkwardly placed behind YOUNG VICTORY.
Approaching the 900 Metres, ENCHANTING START got its head on the side and lay in and then making the turn after the 900 Metres got its head up when awkwardly placed behind COMPULSORY. ENCHANTING START then shifted out, resulting in SHENRON being tightened for room inside PEAK TO PEAK. After this, ENCHANTING START continued to travel keenly and for some distance approaching and passing the 800 Metres was checked away from the heels of COMPULSORY.
Approaching and passing the 900 Metres, THE JOLLY got its head up on a number of occasions when proving difficult to settle and awkwardly placed behind EMERALD SPUR and then made the turn after the 900 Metres awkwardly.
Making the turn after the 900 Metres, MOONLUCK shifted out and bumped GOOD BUDDY.
Rounding the Home Turn, COMPULSORY shifted out and bumped the hindquarters YOUNG VICTORY. COMPULSORY was then awkwardly placed inside the heels of YOUNG VICTORY passing the 400 Metres which shifted in when unbalanced.
Near the 350 Metres, PEAK TO PEAK shifted in and inconvenienced SHENRON which then got its head on the side and shifted in away from PEAK TO PEAK.
Near the 150 Metres, PEAK TO PEAK, which was giving ground, shifted out and bumped CITY LEGEND which was hampered.
TURQUOISE ALPHA was unable to obtain clear running until the concluding stages and consequently was not able to be tested.
Throughout the race, YOUNG VICTORY travelled wide and without cover.
When questioned regarding his riding of PEAK TO PEAK in the early stages, C Y Ho stated that he was given similar instructions on how to ride PEAK TO PEAK today as he was given at its last start when the horse was successful. He said he was asked to begin positively on PEAK TO PEAK but to ensure that he obtained cover on the horse as PEAK TO PEAK had travelled keenly in some of its races previously. He said he was therefore told not to make too much use of his horse in the early stages but if possible obtain a position behind the leaders with cover. He said after PEAK TO PEAK began very well today, he noticed a number of horses drawn more favourably than PEAK TO PEAK being ridden along in the early stages, namely YOUNG VICTORY, COMPULSORY and ENCHANTING START. He said given the manner in which these horses were being ridden along, he was of the opinion that he would have had to ride PEAK TO PEAK along in the early stages to clear those runners which he believed was contrary to his instructions. He said even if he did ride his mount early, the possibility existed that PEAK TO PEAK would have to lead and if this did result, then PEAK TO PEAK would not be racing with cover which again he felt would be contrary to his instructions. He said in the early stages he was unaware that GLORIFIED FIRE, the eventual leader of the race, was being ridden to obtain a forward position as that horse did not begin as well as PEAK TO PEAK and therefore was not in his reckoning that it would be a horse that could possibly lead. He said shortly after the start he commenced to steady his mount to obtain a trailing position behind firstly YOUNG VICTORY and then behind horses which were better drawn than PEAK TO PEAK. He said he had hoped that PEAK TO PEAK would obtain a position with cover albeit he felt that this may be in a three wide position. He added when he was steadying PEAK TO PEAK in the early stages, YOUNG VICTORY was then not ridden along by its rider after the 1300 Metres which resulted in him not being able to restrain PEAK TO PEAK sufficiently to obtain cover behind that horse. He said this resulted in PEAK TO PEAK being left in a four wide position without cover after the 1100 Metres and travelling keenly when not able to race behind another runner. Mr F C Lor, trainer of PEAK TO PEAK, confirmed the instructions and said that he had impressed on Jockey Ho the need to obtain cover on PEAK TO PEAK because of the horse’s previous racing manners and the fact that it was able to race successfully last start when ridden with cover. He said although PEAK TO PEAK began very well today, in his opinion, Jockey Ho would have had to do at least some work on the horse to cross runners to his inside and this may have resulted in PEAK TO PEAK over-racing and having to lead which he believed would not have allowed the horse the opportunity to finish off the race. He added whilst PEAK TO PEAK was not able to enjoy a good run in the race as a result of being steadied in the early stages, he was comfortable with Jockey Ho’s decision not to press forward in the early stages given that he anticipated that there were no natural leaders in the race and that had PEAK TO PEAK been ridden forward to cross runners to its inside, this may have resulted in the horse having to lead. C Y Ho was told that his explanation would be reported, however, in the opinion of the Stewards, given that PEAK TO PEAK began very well and the likelihood that the race would be run at a moderate tempo, he should have allowed PEAK TO PEAK to stride forward without riding his mount along to obtain a position forward of the horses to his inside rather than restraining his mount which, given the likely compact nature of the field, would result in PEAK TO PEAK racing wide and possibly without cover. He was further told to ensure that he rides his mount in such a manner as to avoid covering unnecessary ground so as to provide them with the best opportunity to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of PEAK TO PEAK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of GLORIFIED FIRE immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported.
GOOD BUDDY and MOONLUCK were sent for sampling.

Race:3 (189) BOC LIFE HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 2 1000 m

Race:4 (190) BOCHK ASSET MANAGEMENT HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1400 m

CAPTAIN WIN began only fairly.
COPARTNER AMBITION began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped BEAUTY LEGACY. COPARTNER AMBITION was then crowded for room between BEAUTY LEGACY which shifted in and GORYTUS.
From wide barriers, CRAIG’S STAR, KING TOURBILLON and KYRUS UNICORN were all shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching and passing the 1300 Metres, BEAUTY LEGACY travelled keenly when being steadied to obtain cover.
Passing the 1000 Metres, CIRCUIT MIGHTY was momentarily awkwardly placed outside the heels of PARTERRE.
Making the turn near the 900 Metres, PARTERRE and DRAGON FORTUNE bumped.
Approaching the 800 Metres, CIRCUIT MIGHTY was left racing wide and without cover.
Rounding the Home Turn, PARTERRE was shifted to the outside of GORYTUS to obtain clear running and in doing so brushed CIRCUIT MIGHTY. CIRCUIT MIGHTY then got its head on the side and shifted out away from PARTERRE which resulted in COPARTNER AMBITION becoming badly unbalanced after bumping BEAUTY LEGACY.
At the entrance to the Straight, CAPTAIN WIN was steadied away from the heels of ROYAL PRIDE when held up for clear running between that horse and HORSESAIN BOLT. After this, CAPTAIN WIN and HORSESAIN BOLT raced tight as HORSESAIN BOLT improved to the outside of GORYTUS. CAPTAIN WIN then had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and passing the 200 Metres.
DRAGON FORTUNE was held up for clear running from on straightening until passing the 150 Metres.
Passing the 100 Metres, Z Purton (CAPTAIN WIN) dropped his whip.
Close to the finishing line, KYRUS UNICORN and ROYAL PRIDE both raced in restricted room between COPARTNER AMBITION which was racing tight inside BEAUTY LEGACY which lay in under pressure and GORYTUS which shifted out.
After the race, M Chadwick reported that he had to do too much work on SPEED FAY FAY to cross runners on its inside from a wide barrier to obtain a forward position. He said because of the use he had to make of SPEED FAY FAY in the early stages, the horse was then not able to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of SPEED FAY FAY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of COPARTNER AMBITION and DRAGON FORTUNE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
COPARTNER AMBITION, CAPTAIN WIN and PARTERRE were sent for sampling.

Race:5 (191) BOCHK WEALTH MANAGEMENT HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 2000 m

ENTRUSTED was crowded for room on jumping between ABOVE which got its head up on jumping and began awkwardly and CHEVALIER PRINCE which shifted out.
SUPERBELLA began only fairly.
Shortly after the start, CHEVALIER PRINCE got its head up and became unbalanced of its own accord when being steadied to obtain cover.
From wide barriers, NORDIC SKY and GOLDEN SPECTRUM were steadied in the early stages to obtain cover.
Passing the 1700 Metres and again near the 1500 Metres, SUPERBELLA got its head up when racing close to the heels of ABOVE.
After obtaining a position with cover behind ENZEMBLE after the 1400 Metres, PRECISE EXPRESS proved very difficult to settle and got its head up when racing close to the heels of that horse.
Approaching the 1100 Metres, STIMULATION was taken wide and without cover by HELENE ALLIBOR which improved to the outside of BLASTOISE.
After the 1000 Metres, PRECISE EXPRESS was checked away from the heels of ENZEMBLE and in doing so shifted out and bumped ABOVE, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced.
Approaching the 800 Metres, ENZEMBLE commenced to travel keenly and was shifted out away from the heels of STIMULATION. After this, ENZEMBLE was left racing wide and without cover and was allowed to improve its position to race outside the lead after the 600 Metres.
BLASTOISE lost its left hind plate after the 700 Metres.
After the 600 Metres, CHEVALIER PRINCE was held up behind BLASTOISE which commenced to give ground abruptly. A veterinary inspection of BLASTOISE immediately following the race revealed that the horse was displaying an irregular heart rhythm. Before being allowed to race again, BLASTOISE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Approaching the 300 Metres, LEAP OF FAITH got its head on the side and lay out towards the hindquarters of ENZEMBLE, resulting in both horses brushing passing the 300 Metres.
Approaching the 200 Metres, GOLDEN SPECTRUM was shifted in away from the heels of GOD OF DRAGON.
Passing the 100 Metres, ENZEMBLE was steadied away from the heels of HELENE ALLIBOR (B Shinn) which shifted in. B Shinn was reprimanded and told to ensure that he exercises more care in similar circumstances.
L Ferraris (BLASTOISE) was fined the sum of $5,000 for using the whip on two occasions in the backhand manner on a horse which was clearly out of contention.
When questioned, C L Chau stated that he was asked to ride GOD OF DRAGON where it was comfortable depending on the manner in which the horse began. He said he was told if GOD OF DRAGON began well, he should take advantage of that and obtain a position behind the speed with cover, however, if GOD OF DRAGON did not begin well, then he should steady his mount and obtain cover. He said when GOD OF DRAGON began well and SUPERBELLA, which was drawn to GOD OF DRAGON’s immediate inside, was slow to begin, he elected to ride his mount along in the early stages as he felt that, given the manner in which SUPERBELLA began, to steady his mount would have resulted in GOD OF DRAGON getting too far out of its ground. He said he did consider obtaining a position behind STIMULATION approaching the winning post on the first occasion, however, given that CHEVALIER PRINCE had obtained a trailing position behind that horse, he believed that this would have resulted in GOD OF DRAGON having to race wide and therefore after the winning post on the first occasion he rode his mount along to clear that horse. He added after riding his mount along to clear HELENE ALLIBOR after the 1700 Metres, he then steadied GOD OF DRAGON to obtain a trailing position behind LEAP OF FAITH after the 1400 Metres. He said GOD OF DRAGON travelled well throughout the middle stages and, in his opinion, improved into the race well prior to the 600 Metres. He said however that when ENZEMBLE improved around GOD OF DRAGON passing the 600 Metres, his mount immediately came under pressure and then did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of GOD OF DRAGON immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of ENZEMBLE immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, ENZEMBLE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN SPECTRUM immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
ENTRUSTED and CHEVALIER PRINCE were sent for sampling.

Race:6 (192) THE BOCHK PRIVATE BANKING JOCKEY CLUB SPRINT (Sec1) Group Two 1200 m

AMAZING STAR shifted out at the start and bumped SUPER WEALTHY which in turn shifted out and bumped COURIER WONDER which became unbalanced.
From wide barriers, NABOO ATTACK and WELLINGTON were steadied in the early stages and shifted across behind runners.
Passing the 1100 Metres, WELLINGTON was steadied away from the heels of LUCKY PATCH (C L Chau) which shifted in when not properly clear. C L Chau was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. After this, WELLINGTON commenced to travel keenly and was awkwardly placed close to the heels of LUCKY PATCH approaching and passing the 1000 Metres.
When being steadied to obtain cover approaching and passing the 900 Metres, SUPER WEALTHY travelled keenly and got its head up on a number of occasions.
Approaching the 300 Metres, HOT KING PRAWN shifted out and bumped the hindquarters of SUPER WEALTHY.
C L Chau (LUCKY PATCH) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that passing the 200 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of SUPER WEALTHY, causing that horse to be unnecessarily crowded for room and to be checked. C L Chau was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 8 December 2021 and to expire on Monday, 13 December 2021 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In addition, Jockey Chau was fined $27,500. When SUPER WEALTHY was checked, it shifted in and bumped HOT KING PRAWN which in turn shifted in and bumped SKY FIELD which became unbalanced when improving outside COMPUTER PATCH.
Passing the 200 Metres, COURIER WONDER (J Moreira) shifted out abruptly and inconvenienced LUCKY PATCH. J Moreira immediately stopped riding and straightened his mount at which stage COURIER WONDER shifted in and inconvenienced SKY FIELD. Then passing the 100 Metres, COURIER WONDER shifted in away from LUCKY PATCH and bumped SKY FIELD, resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. HOT KING PRAWN, which was following COURIER WONDER, was shifted in away from the heels of that horse in consequence. When questioned, J Moreira stated that he had to make a good deal of use of COURIER WONDER in the early stages to cross SUPER WEALTHY on its inside. He said in the Straight COURIER WONDER came under heavy pressure which resulted in the horse shifting ground on a number of occasions. He said, in his opinion, the manner in which COURIER WONDER raced today could be attributed to the fact that today’s race was the first race in which it had come under heavy pressure and he believed the inexperience of COURIER WONDER, which was racing for just the 7th time today, had resulted in the horse shifting ground as it did. A veterinary inspection of COURIER WONDER immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of HOT KING PRAWN and SUPER WEALTHY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
COURIER WONDER, LUCKY PATCH and NABOO ATTACK were sent for sampling.

After the 700 Metres, PRECIOUSSHIP and MORE THAN THIS (M F Poon) raced very tight for some distance as PRECIOUSSHIP was taken wider by MORE THAN THIS which attempted to improve to the outside of SKY DARCI. M F Poon was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground to ensure that he does not place undue pressure on other horses.
Passing the 200 Metres, the whip of M F Poon was knocked from his grasp by the whip of K Teetan (CHAMPION’S WAY).
GOLDEN SIXTY and WAIKUKU were sent for sampling.

Race:8 (194) THE BOCHK JOCKEY CLUB CUP (Sec1) Group Two 2000 m

KA YING STAR was slow to begin which resulted in the horse racing back in the field in the early stages. KA YING STAR then shifted out passing the 1400 Metres to improve its position to race outside the lead near the 1200 Metres.
GLORIOUS DRAGON shifted in at the start and brushed the hindquarters of RELIABLE TEAM. Then a short distance after the start, GLORIOUS DRAGON raced tight between PANFIELD and RELIABLE TEAM which shifted out.
COLUMBUS COUNTY and SAVVY NINE were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Approaching the 1000 Metres, GLORIOUS DRAGON got its head up when being checked away from the heels of PANFIELD.
Approaching the 200 Metres, RUSSIAN EMPEROR raced in restricted room inside the heels of KA YING STAR which shifted in marginally under pressure. When KA YING STAR shifted in, it was awkwardly placed outside the heels of RELIABLE TEAM for a short distance.
When questioned regarding the performance of PANFIELD, K Teetan stated that whilst PANFIELD was not suited by the slow tempo and racing without cover until near the 1200 Metres, nonetheless, in his opinion, the horse was disappointing in today’s race. He said when racing without cover in the early stages as a result of KA YING STAR missing the start, PANFIELD travelled somewhat keenly and would not relax as he had hoped. He said when crossed by KA YING STAR near the 1200 Metres, PANFIELD relaxed better and he was satisfied with the manner in which the horse was travelling prior to the 600 Metres. He said after the 600 Metres he shifted to the outside of KA YING STAR and PANFIELD improved into the race nicely. He added he placed PANFIELD under pressure at the entrance to the Straight and the horse initially responded well, however, at the 300 Metres came under heavy pressure and then over the final 200 Metres was disappointing in the manner in which it finished off the race. He said after the race PANFIELD appeared to be in good order and trotted back to the unsaddling area well. A veterinary inspection of PANFIELD immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, it was reported that RELIABLE TEAM had sustained a small laceration to the left hind pastern.
GLORIOUS DRAGON, RELIABLE TEAM and KA YING STAR were sent for sampling.

Race:9 (195) BOC CREDIT CARD HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 2 1800 m

ZEBROWSKI began awkwardly and bumped the outside of its gate, resulting in the horse losing ground.
From wide barriers, CHARITY GO and ENJOYING were shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the 1700 Metres, CELESTIAL POWER got its head up when awkwardly placed outside the heels of CALIFORNIA TEN as CELESTIAL POWER was being steadied to obtain cover behind that horse.
Near the 1650 Metres, CALIFORNIA TEN shifted out away from the heels of ZEBROWSKI.
The performance of CHEFANO, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. Before being allowed to race again, CHEFANO will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination. A veterinary inspection of CHEFANO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
After the race, K Teetan reported that, in his opinion, CALIFORNIA TEN’s failure to finish off the race was attributable to the horse travelling too keenly in the early and middle stages. A veterinary inspection of CALIFORNIA TEN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of ENJOYING and LOOKING GREAT immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
C P BRAVE, CELESTIAL POWER and ZEBROWSKI were sent for sampling.

Race:10 (196) BOCHK BOC PAY HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 3 1200 m

Approaching the 500 Metres, NAMJONG SINGS raced tight outside NEVER TOO SOON which improved to the outside of STOCK LEGEND. Then rounding the Home Turn and in the early part of the Straight, NEVER TOO SOON and NAMJONG SINGS raced tight as NAMJONG SINGS attempted to shift out from behind BABY when that horse commenced to give ground. When unable to shift to the outside of BABY, this resulted in NEVER TOO SOON being awkwardly placed behind that horse for some distance approaching and passing the 400 Metres.
Approaching the 300 Metres, BABY, which was continuing to give ground, was momentarily eased away from the heels of STOCK LEGEND which shifted out.
Throughout the race, BABY travelled wide and without cover.
After the race, J Moreira (PACKING LAD) stated that after being loaded into the barriers, he observed that one of the ear plugs fitted to the horse had dislodged. He said rather than have PACKING LAD race with only one ear plug, he removed the remaining ear plug which resulted in the horse not racing with that piece of equipment in today’s race.
Also after the race, K Teetan stated that when under pressure in the Straight, DUBLIN STAR changed stride on a number of occasions and did not feel comfortable in its action. He said however that when returning to the unsaddling area, DUBLIN STAR appeared to be sound in its action. A veterinary inspection of DUBLIN STAR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, DUBLIN STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
