After the race, B Shinn was not able to offer any explanation for the disappointing performance of GARLIC HERO which was having its first start on the All Weather surface today. He said the horse did not finish off the race after travelling only fairly during the early and middle stages. A veterinary inspection of GARLIC HERO immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Also after the race, M Chadwick (GENERAL TRUMP) said that his saddle shifted to the left hand side near the 500 Metres.
A veterinary inspection of CHUNGHWA JINGSHEN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Race:2 (85) HOI PA HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1000 m

As the start was effected, PRETTY QUEEN PRAWN, which was having its first race start and fractious in the barriers, lifted its front feet off the ground, resulting in the horse losing ground. Before being allowed to race again, PRETTY QUEEN PRAWN will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
MY INTELLIGENT began awkwardly and then shortly after the start was steadied away from the heels of CARRY THE DIAMOND which shifted out after being bumped and hampered by SPICY SO GOOD. In this incident, SPICY SO GOOD became unbalanced as a result of bumping CARRY THE DIAMOND.
Shortly after the start, CHICKEN DANCE and HONEY BEE brushed.
HONEY BEE lay out in the early stages and then over the concluding stages gave ground and finished tailed out. As this was the third occasion within five race starts that HONEY BEE had finished tailed out, the Stewards ruled that that horse must undertake a series of consecutive satisfactory barrier trials and be subjected to an official veterinary examination prior to being permitted to race again.
Passing the 600 Metres, SHOWINA raced tight outside FANTASY SPRING.
Over the final 400 Metres, AMAZING ROCKY lay out under pressure.

A veterinary inspection of SPICY SO GOOD immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, SPICY SO GOOD will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
SPARKLING KNIGHT and AMAZING ROCKY were sent for sampling.

Race:3 (86) SHA TSUI HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1400 m

After the 1300 Metres, KING’S TROOPER got its head up when awkwardly placed inside the heels of BEST FOR YOU. For some distance after this, KING’S TROOPER continued to travel keenly.
KING’S TROOPER had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the Straight and passing the 150 Metres was shifted to the outside of STUNNING IMPACT to continue improving.
Throughout the race, STUNNING IMPACT travelled wide and without cover.
Also throughout the race, DRAGON BABY travelled wide and without cover and in the Straight gave ground.
When questioned, K H Chan stated that he was asked to ride AURORA PEGASUS, which was racing over 1400 Metres for the first time today, wherever it was comfortable and it was felt that this may be in about a midfield position. He said after beginning well, he commenced to shift AURORA PEGASUS across with a view to obtaining cover, however, as there were a number of horses maintaining their positions to the inside of AURORA PEGASUS, he believed that he would have had to restrain AURORA PEGASUS heavily to obtain a midfield position with cover. He said as STUNNING IMPACT was improving its position forward of AURORA PEGASUS near the 1300 Metres, he rode his mount along to clear BEST FOR YOU with a view to then steadying AURORA PEGASUS and allowing STUNNING IMPACT to cross his mount which would provide AURORA PEGASUS with cover. He said however that when obtaining the position outside THE ANOMALY passing the 1300 Metres, STUNNING IMPACT was steadied by its rider which resulted in AURORA PEGASUS travelling keenly outside the lead.
A veterinary inspection of DRAGON BABY, GOOD BEAUTY and GOLDEN FOUR immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
THE ANOMALY and STUNNING IMPACT were sent for sampling.

The performance of KELMIMI WINS, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable. A veterinary inspection of KELMIMI WINS immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer” which had previously been reported. Before being allowed to race again, KELMIMI WINS will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
When questioned, H Bentley (FOX CHEUNGER) stated that after the 300 Metres a run developed between LITTLE PLAYER and JOY AVENUE. He said when this run appeared, he directed FOX CHEUNGER to the outside of LITTLE PLAYER to improve into the run. He said at this stage he was unaware of a run which also existed to the inside of LITTLE PLAYER. He said irrespective of the run which was available to the inside of LITTLE PLAYER, he believed that at the time that he directed his mount to the outside of that horse, there was running available between LITTLE PLAYER and JOY AVENUE, however, FOX CHEUNGER was not quickening well enough to be able to improve into the run which resulted in FOX CHEUNGER being momentarily inconvenienced at the 200 Metres when the run between those two horses closed as a result of LITTLE PLAYER shifting out marginally. He added whilst FOX CHEUNGER was disappointed for the run, nonetheless he was able to continue to ride his mount along and passing the 100 Metres was able to obtain clear running inside JOY AVENUE. He said in hindsight it would have been best if he had been aware of the run inside LITTLE PLAYER and improved into that run rather than shifting to its outside, nonetheless FOX CHEUNGER was able to be ridden out, however, was not finishing off the race well enough at that stage to be able to capitalize on the run which was available between LITTLE PLAYER and JOY AVENUE.
After the race, B Shinn stated that after being ridden along from an inside barrier, LITTLE PLAYER was able to obtain a good position in the early stages. He said LITTLE PLAYER travelled fairly throughout the middle stages, however, came under pressure rounding the Home Turn and then did not finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of LITTLE PLAYER immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of mucus in the horse’s trachea.
A veterinary inspection of PAKISTAN ZINDABAD and NOBLE MAN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
ONE STEP AHEAD, SOCCER MASTER and BRAVE POWER were sent for sampling.

SURE WIN WIN also became unbalanced as a result of bumping LONDON LUCKYSTAR and being awkwardly placed behind ROYAL AGILITY.
Near the 50 Metres, SURE WIN WIN was checked out away from the heels of SWIFT SPIRIT after being held up for clear running behind that horse. Because of this, SURE WIN WIN was not able to be ridden out over the concluding stages.
After the race, A Hamelin (AWE) reported that, in his opinion, the horse did not handle the kickback today and because of this failed to finish off the race. A veterinary inspection of AWE immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of FAIRY FLOSS, J Moreira stated that he was not able to offer any excuse for the horse in today’s race. He said after being shifted across behind runners from the outside barrier, FAIRY FLOSS travelled better than it did at its last run when it was first up for the new season. He said based on the manner in which FAIRY FLOSS travelled, he anticipated that the horse would finish off the race. He added although he had to make the Home Turn wide to commence improving, he still expected that, with clear running in the Straight, FAIRY FLOSS would close off the race strongly. He said however that in the early part of the Straight FAIRY FLOSS immediately came under heavy pressure and then was most disappointing in the manner in which it failed to quicken and then finished off the race. A veterinary inspection of FAIRY FLOSS immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. The performance of FAIRY FLOSS, favourite for today’s race and which finished towards the rear of the field, was considered unacceptable. After the race, A Hamelin stated that SOLAR POWER’s failure to finish off the race was attributable to the manner in which it began and the use of the horse which then had to be made to overcome its poor start. Before being allowed to race again, SOLAR POWER will be required to perform satisfactorily in a stalls test.
FLYING MIGHTY began only fairly.
CITY LEGEND shifted in at the start and bumped EMERALD SPUR.

He said at its last start when drawn barrier 1, CALIFORNIA CIBLE was able to obtain a forward position without having to be ridden too aggressively, however, today he was not able to cross to race outside FIRST RESPONDER until after the 900 Metres and because of the amount of use that he had to make of CALIFORNIA CIBLE, the horse was then not able to finish off the race.
