GOLDEN GENERAL began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped AMAZING AGILITY. After this, GOLDEN GENERAL was steadied to obtain cover.
REGENCY GEM shifted out at the start and bumped JOY MASTER which was crowded for room when taken out onto the hindquarters of HOME WIN which began awkwardly. After this, REGENCY GEM and JOY MASTER made further contact on a number of occasions. REGENCY GEM was then steadied and shifted across behind runners to obtain a position closer to the rail.
Despite being ridden along for some distance in the early stages, CIRCUIT NUMBER ONE was slow to muster speed.
From the outside barrier, DAILY CHARM was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Passing the 1300 Metres, GOLDEN GENERAL got its head up when travelling keenly and awkwardly placed close to the heels of JOY MASTER which shifted in after improving into tight running inside the heels of HOME WIN which shifted in. After this, GOLDEN GENERAL proved very difficult to settle and for some distance approaching and passing the 1100 Metres again got its head up when being checked away from the heels of JOY MASTER. In this incident, GOLDEN GENERAL shifted in and inconvenienced REGENCY GEM. GOLDEN GENERAL then continued to travel keenly.
After the 1200 Metres, AMAZING AGILITY was left racing wide and without cover.
Approaching the 50 Metres, EVEN KEEL was struck over the nose by the whip of N Callan (JOY MASTER). After this, EVEN KEEL was awkwardly placed outside the heels of JOY MASTER which shifted out marginally.
In the Straight, SHANGHAI DRAGON lay out under pressure.
After the race, B Shinn reported that HOME WIN came under heavy pressure prior to the 500 Metres and its action then deteriorated in the early part of the Straight. He said because of this he eased his mount down over the concluding stages. A veterinary inspection of HOME WIN immediately following the race did not show any significant findings. Before being allowed to race again, HOME WIN will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of GOLDEN GENERAL immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, GOLDEN GENERAL will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Near the 275 Metres, JOYFUL WIN was crowded for room between ALL THE WAY and LITTLE PLAYER (B Shinn) which shifted to the inside of SPARKLING DOLPHIN to obtain clear running. In this incident, ALL THE WAY received contact on the hindquarters from JOYFUL WIN and lay out. B Shinn was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.
Approaching the 100 Metres, A Badel dropped his whip. As this was the third occasion in recent times that Jockey Badel had been reported to have dropped his whip, he was placed on notice that should he offend again in the near future, further action may be taken.
Passing the 100 Metres, UNITED WE STAND was awkwardly placed outside the heels of FORTE.
FORTE and UNITED WE STAND were sent for sampling.

Race:3 (186) PANASONIC 4K TV HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1200 m

HAPPY JAI JAI shifted in at the start and bumped GRAND POWER. GRAND POWER was then crowded for room between HAPPY JAI JAI and VECTOR which was taken out by INNO LEGEND which shifted out of its own accord before being bumped and taken out further by VICTORIOUS LEADER.
EASY DAZZLING began only fairly.
BREEZE OF SPRING shifted out at the start and bumped SUPER RED DRAGON which became unbalanced and then shifted in.
PRECISION DREAM began awkwardly.
Passing the 850 Metres, BREEZE OF SPRING was awkwardly placed behind QIPAO BOSS which was steadied to obtain cover behind LITTLE THUNDER.
Also passing the 850 Metres, PRECISION DREAM was left racing wide and without cover.
When questioned, J Moreira stated that, unlike its last start when successful, RHAPSODY was drawn the outside barrier. He said he was instructed to be positive on RHAPSODY and obtain a forward position if possible. He said in accordance with his instructions he rode his mount along in the early stages and after shifting across to race outside LITTLE THUNDER approaching the 1000 Metres, he then had to continue to ride it forward of that horse to prevent racing unnecessarily wide. He said he was able to clear LITTLE THUNDER to race outside the lead passing the 900 Metres and when he attempted to steady RHAPSODY to sit off VECTOR, his mount would not relax and travelled too keenly in the middle stages. He said this resulted in RHAPSODY and VECTOR racing on terms after the 700 Metres. He added RHAPSODY lay in rounding the Home Turn, however, quickened satisfactorily given the amount of work it had done in the early stages. He said RHAPSODY came under heavy pressure after the 300 Metres and then continued to lay in when giving ground over the concluding stages. He said, in his opinion, the horse’s failure to finish off the race was attributable to the amount of use that he had to make on RHAPSODY and the fact that the horse was then not able to relax in the middle stages. A veterinary inspection of RHAPSODY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of PRECISION DREAM, VECTOR and EASY DAZZLING immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SUPER RED DRAGON and INNO LEGEND were sent for sampling.

Race:4 (187) PANASONIC STEAM OVEN HANDICAP (Sec1) Class 4 1400 m

On entering the track, SEVENTH SEA made contact with a rail, resulting in its rider, H W Lai, being dislodged without incident. On arrival at the Start, SEVENTH SEA was examined by the Veterinary Officer who said in his opinion it was suitable to race.
DIAMOND RHYME began awkwardly, shifted in at the start and brushed SUN SUN FA FA which then shifted in and bumped MASTER HERO which began only fairly.
SO AWESOME began awkwardly and stumbled and consequently shifted in and bumped MIGHTY POWER. SO AWESOME and DEMONS ROCK then made contact a short distance after the start, resulting in DEMONS ROCK shifting out and inconveniencing SMART WONGCHOY.
ULTIMATE GLORY began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped SURE WIN WIN. After this, both ULTIMATE GLORY and SURE WIN WIN were shifted across behind runners from the outside barriers.
SEVENTH SEA and SUNNY AND GOLD were also steadied in the early stages from wide barriers to obtain cover.
Approaching the 1300 Metres, MIGHTY POWER shifted in and made contact with NATURAL WINNER.
Near the 1250 Metres, MIGHTY POWER was steadied away from the heels of DEMONS ROCK which was taken in by SMART WONGCHOY (Apprentice C L Chau) which got its head on the side and lay in. Apprentice Chau was advised to ensure that he makes every endeavour to prevent his mounts from shifting ground in similar circumstances. After this, SMART WONGCHOY, when being ridden to obtain the lead, continued to lay in and passing the 1000 Metres shifted in, resulting in DEMONS ROCK being momentarily inconvenienced.
Near the 1000 Metres, SO AWESOME was left racing wide and without cover.
At the entrance to the Straight, GOLDEN FOUR was shifted to the inside of RIGHTEOUS WIN after being disappointed for running between that horse and SEVENTH SEA.
MASTER HERO was held up for a run from passing the 400 Metres until after the 300 Metres at which stage the horse was shifted to the outside of SO AWESOME to obtain clear running.
The whip of V Borges (RIGHTEOUS WIN) momentarily became entangled in the reins as V Borges changed his whip into his right hand passing the 300 Metres.
Passing the 200 Metres, GOLDEN FOUR was held up for clear running when racing in restricted room between MASTER HERO and SURE WIN WIN which shifted out. After this, GOLDEN FOUR continued to race tight inside the heels of MASTER HERO until the concluding stages of the race.
A Badel stated that it was anticipated that todays’ race would be run at a stronger tempo than at NATURAL WINNER’s last start when the horse was ridden to lead. He said he was therefore asked to ride NATURAL WINNER positively in the early stages to take up a forward position, however, if other runners showed more early speed than NATURAL WINNER, as was anticipated, he should take a sit on NATURAL WINNER and obtain a trailing position to allow the horse the opportunity to close off the race. He said in accordance with his instructions he rode NATURAL WINNER positively in the early stages to obtain a prominent position and when DIAMOND RHYME, DEMONS ROCK and SMART WONGCHOY were all being ridden to obtain a forward position, he shifted NATURAL WINNER across behind those horses to obtain cover.
After the race, M L Yeung stated that it was not intended for MIGHTY POWER to be ridden as far forward as today, however, after the horse began well, MIGHTY POWER was left racing wide and as it was not available for him to shift in to obtain a position closer to the rail, he allowed his mount to improve its position after the 1200 Metres forward of NATURAL WINNER to obtain a position one horse off the rail. He said MIGHTY POWER was required to race without cover and more forward than had been intended and given the horse’s failure to finish off the race, he is of the view that MIGHTY POWER may be better suited being ridden with cover. A veterinary inspection of MIGHTY POWER immediately following the race found that horse to have an intermittent displacement of the soft palate.
A veterinary inspection of SUN SUN FA FA and DEMONS ROCK immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
SO AWESOME, DIAMOND RHYME and MASTER HERO were sent for sampling.

Z Purton was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Wednesday, 2 December 2020 and to expire on Monday, 7 December 2020 on which day he may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays). In assessing penalty, the Stewards took into account Jockey Purton’s good race riding record.
Approaching the 100 Metres, BRIGHT VISION was steadied when momentarily crowded for room between HELAKU KNIGHT and BRAVE POWER (C Y Ho) which got its head on the side and shifted out away from THE DRIVE. C Y Ho was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

A veterinary inspection of CARE FREE PRINCE immediately following the race found that horse to be lame in its right front leg. Before being allowed to race again, CARE FREE PRINCE will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection of MOMENTUM HAPPY immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. Before being allowed to race again, MOMENTUM HAPPY will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

SPEED FORCE and SEAWEED FORTUNE, which were following, were hampered in consequence. APEX TOP, which was following LIGHT MY DAY (K C Leung), was steadied away from the heels of that horse, resulting in EVER LAUGH, which was travelling very keenly, being checked away from the heels of APEX TOP after the 1100 Metres and in doing so shifting in and crowding the racing room of SEAWEED FORTUNE. MARVELOUS FANS, which was following EVER LAUGH, was shifted out away from the heels of that horse in consequence and in doing so bumped DECISIVE ACTION which was travelling keenly when racing wide and without cover. This resulted in DECISIVE ACTION being checked away from the heels of BULLETPROOF and after the 900 Metres being left racing wide and without cover. For some distance after this, MARVELOUS FANS was awkwardly placed behind BULLETPROOF. Apprentice Chan and K C Leung were warned against the practice of reducing the tempo of the race such that horses which are following do not have time to adapt to the change of tempo.
BUNDLE OF DELIGHT was held up for clear running from approaching the 300 Metres until near the 200 Metres at which stage the horse was shifted to the outside of SPEED FORCE after being disappointed for running inside that horse.

CASIMIRO lay in under pressure in the Straight.
After the race, A Hamelin reported that, in his opinion, APEX TOP did not see out the 1600 Metres of today’s race. He said the early stages of the race were run at a good tempo and although the pace slackened in the middle stages, he felt that early tempo of the race was not conducive to APEX TOP seeing out the 1600 Metres. He said he noted that APEX TOP had previously raced over 1600 Metres and had not finished off those races and therefore he is of the view that the horse may be suited back in distance. A veterinary inspection of APEX TOP immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
A veterinary inspection of BUNDLE OF DELIGHT and LIGHT MY DAY immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
DECISIVE ACTION, CASIMIRO and ALL FOR ST PAUL’S were sent for sampling.

Near the 50 Metres, JOYFUL FORTUNE shifted in, requiring its rider to correct his mount.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of SPARKLING KNIGHT, J Moreira stated his mount did not travel well at any stage of the race. He said he had to ride SPARKLING KNIGHT along for a considerable distance in the early stages to take up a forward position as it was reluctant to stretch out. He said he had to continue to ride his mount along in the middle stages to maintain his position, however, the horse came under heavy pressure prior to the 500 Metres and then, despite being ridden out, weakened noticeably over the latter stages of the race. He added SPARKLING KNIGHT pulled up very quickly after the finish and was very unbalanced in its action. A veterinary inspection of SPARKLING KNIGHT immediately following the race including an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea. The performance of SPARKLING KNIGHT was considered unacceptable. Near the 150 Metres, AWE was directed to the inside of THINKIN’ BIG after being disappointed for running between that horse and ALCARI.
Approaching the 100 Metres, BEAUTY RUSH lay out under pressure.
When questioned, M Chadwick stated that he was provided with two sets of instructions on how to ride CRAIG’S STAR from the wide barrier. He said if CRAIG’S STAR began well and he was able to obtain a forward position without having to make too much use of the horse, he should do so, however, it was important for him to obtain cover on CRAIG’S STAR if possible. He said alternatively he was told that if the circumstances of the race meant that he would have had to ride his mount along or that CRAIG’S STAR may be left racing without cover, he should steady his mount in the early stages to take up whatever position which was available. He said CRAIG’S STAR began satisfactorily, however, given that a number of horses were being ridden along to obtain a forward position which were better drawn than CRAIG’S STAR, he felt that he would have had to make a lot of use to cross runners to his inside to obtain a forward position and prevent covering unnecessary ground. He said he therefore commenced to shift CRAIG’S STAR across with a view to obtaining cover behind TURIN REDSTAR near the 1200 Metres. He said he expected SUPER STAR to shift across to race closer to the rail which would provide him with the opportunity to obtain cover behind TURIN REDSTAR, however, when SUPER STAR maintained its position behind that horse, he then shifted CRAIG’S STAR across behind SUPER STAR to obtain cover which resulted in CRAIG’S STAR racing towards the rear of the field.
A veterinary inspection of THE CROWN and ALCARI immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
