Race 1 SPORTSBET FAST FORM PLATE - 1200 metres:

Suppose I Do Re-plated in the mounting yard (off fore). Underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Began awkwardly. Near the 1000m was eased from the heels of Fabrice, which was taken in by Nietzsche, which in turn was taken in by Vendemmia, which shifted in before being corrected. Held up for clear running from the 400m until shifting out around heels passing the 200m.

Gerrys Gift Slow to begin and was then restrained after the start.

Nietzsche Began awkwardly. Raced keenly and got its head up in the early stages. Rider Jamie Mott reported the gelding raced greenly throughout.

Met With Luck Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 600m when racing keenly was eased and shifted out to avoid the heels of Nietzsche.

Aquilion Girl Raced three wide without cover throughout. Lay out rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.

Stardom Bound Lay in under pressure in the straight.

Race 2 BECOME AN MRC MEMBER HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

The start of the race was delayed approximately two minutes after Thedreamsnotover dislodged its rider enroute to the barriers.

Thedreamsnotover Harmlessly dislodged rider Jason Maskiell enroute to the barrier. J Maskiell underwent a medical examination and was passed fit. Thedreamsnotover underwent a veterinary examination and was also deemed suitable to race. On jumping was bumped on the hindquarters by A Hidden Treasure and became unbalanced. Raced keenly in the early stages. Near the 800m when racing keenly had to be eased when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Shyleah (Beau Mertens), which shifted in. B Mertens was notified to exercise more care.

Miss Winslet Bounded on jumping and lost ground (3L).

A Hidden Treasure Bounded on jumping, shifted in and made contact with the hindquarters of Thedreamsnotover and became unbalanced, resulting in rider Craig Newitt almost being dislodged and the filly losing ground (2L).

Kates Tiara Shifted out under pressure in the straight.

Iphimedia Rider Jye McNeil reported the filly travelled well however when placed under pressure was disappointing and in his opinion, may not have appreciated todays Heavy 8 track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not identify any significant abnormal findings.

Dontdoubtlayla Apprentice Jaylah Kennedy reported from the wide barrier the filly settled further back than intended, however when placed under pressure the filly responded to her riding fairly in the straight. As Dontdoubtlayla had left the course prior to undergoing a veterinary examination, a veterinary clearance is required prior to racing again.

Race 3 SENET GAMBLING LAW EXPERTS HANDICAP - 1400 metres:

King De Lune Slow to begin. Rider Lachlan King could offer no explanation for the performance, which in his opinion was disappointing.

Rate Of Knots Began awkwardly and got its head up. Raced keenly when being restrained in the early stages. When questioned regarding the tactics, rider John Allen explained he had been instructed to ride the gelding, which has a tendency to race keenly, in a position with cover. J Allen stated, after beginning on terms from the wide barrier he elected to restrain Rate Of Knots to comply with the instructions and when being restrained to obtain cover the gelding raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Race 4 SPORTSBET SET A DEPOSIT LIMIT HANDICAP - 2400 metres:

Irish Butterfly Crowded at the start. Held up for a short distance rounding the home turn near the 500m.

Marital Eagle (IRE) Slow to begin.

Senor Uno (NZ) Began awkwardly and shifted out. Apprentice Jaylah Kennedy reported, in her opinion, the gelding was not suited by the slow tempo of the race. A post-race veterinary examination did not identify any significant abnormal findings.

Urban Oasis (IRE) Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 1100m was steadied from the heels of Speranzoso and got its head up. Rider Zac Spain reported he was instructed to ride the gelding with cover however after beginning well from the wide barrier Urban Oasis raced keenly in the early stages and as a result settled further forward than previous starts.

Speranzoso (GB) Rider Jamie Mott reported, in his opinion, the gelding failed to handle todays Heavy 8 track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not identify any significant abnormal findings.

Bengal Boy Rider Damian Lane reported the gelding travelled well however was disappointing when placed under pressure.

Race 5 IVE>HANDICAP - 2100 metres:

Preferential (NZ) Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover before settling on pace near the 1500m. Rider Blake Shinn reported racing wide in the early stages was detrimental to the mares chances. A post-race veterinary examination did not identify any significant abnormal findings.

Smokin Princess Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from the 600m to the 400m.

Pearl Bleue (FR) Slow to begin.

Hard Squeeze Slow to begin. Raced wide without cover from the 1300m.

Chandon Burj Began awkwardly. Under pressure from the 500m and was eased down over the final 300m. Rider Craig Newitt reported he felt something may have been amiss with the mare and as a result he eased it from the event. A post-race veterinary examination did not identify any significant abnormal findings. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Derozario When questioned regarding her riding, apprentice Dakotah Keane explained she had been instructed to ride the mare in a forward position, outside the leader if possible, from the wide barrier. She stated there was also provision for her, if the tempo eased, to allow her mount to stride and take up running and to ensure she had increased the tempo from the 600m. D Keane added after beginning well, she was able to race outside the leader Chandon Burj, where near the 1500m her mount commenced to race keenly and bearing in mind her instructions and that the tempo of the race had eased, she allowed Derozario to stride and obtain the lead near the 1100m. D Keane further added, she allowed her mount to travel where it was comfortable in the lead and when placed under pressure it was one paced and inclined to hang out rounding the home turn.

Race 6 EVERGREEN TURF HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

Starlea Fractious in the barrier and reared. Underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. The Ellerton stable were notified that a warning has been placed on the mares record.

Written In Code Slow to begin and was crowded after the start. Near the 500m improved onto the heels of Libica and was checked.

Jennipending - Slow to begin.

Demando Raced keenly in the early stages.

Starianne Over raced in the early stages and was restrained off heels on several occasions.

Ithadtobezou Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide without cover.

Race 7 THOROUGHBRED CLUB OF VICTORIA HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

The Open Slow to begin. Near the 900m was eased when racing close to the heels of Heuristic.

Heuristic Raced three wide without cover throughout.

William Thomas Stood flat footed and lost ground (3L). Near the 900m, when racing keenly, shifted out when awkwardly placed on the heels of Coronation Keith.

Blondeau - Slow to begin.

Keitel Hampered at the start.

Rocket Tiger Hampered at the start.

Maximillius Lay out rounding the home turn. Rider Thomas Stockdale reported he was instructed to ride the gelding with cover and after beginning well his mount travelled strongly in the early stages and rather than restrain to gain cover he allowed Maximillius to settle outside the leader. He added in the middle stages, the gelding began to race keenly and was reluctant to settle and for this reason he was unable to restrain, which resulted in Maximillius applying more pressure than he would have liked before it commenced to weaken in the straight. T Stockdale stated, in his opinion, the gelding failed to handle the Heavy 8 track conditions. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Carbonados (NZ) Rider Jye McNeil reported the gelding was not suited being pressured in the lead through the early and middle stages. A post-race veterinary examination did not identify any significant abnormal findings.

Race 8 SPORTSBET RACE REPLAYS HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

After entering the mounting yard it was established that the incorrect saddles and saddlecloths had been placed on Samedi (apprentice Ryan Houston) and Denero (apprentice Dakotah Keane), as a result R Houston and D Keane were ordered to re-weigh. At a subsequent inquiry trainer Charlotte Littlefield (Samedi) and trainer Michael Huglin (Denero) both pleaded guilty to a charge under the provisions of AR106(1) and were each fined $500 for the incorrect saddling of their respective runners.

Tajanis (IRE) Slow to begin. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to not racing since September 2023 and was passed suitable to race. Rider Damian Lane reported the gelding, which was having its first start in Australia, would be suited by a step up in distance. A post-race veterinary examination did not identify any significant abnormal findings.

Star Vega (IRE) Slow to begin.

Oceans Above (NZ) Began awkwardly. Apprentice Celine Gaudray reported she was instructed to ride the gelding where comfortable and added, after beginning only fairly, the gelding failed to muster speed in the early stages where she settled at the rear. C Gaudray added in the middle stages she attempted to place her mount under pressure to regain contact with the remainder of field where she was able to do so near the 800m and when placed under pressure in the straight the gelding responded well to her riding. C Gaudray added, in her opinion, Oceans Above is best ridden when it is able to travel where comfortable in the early and middle stages.

Superstock (NZ) Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Raced wide without cover before striding to obtain a position outside the leader near the 1000m.

Name Dropper Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Near the 1200m became awkwardly placed on the heels of Samedi and shifted out. Raced wide thereafter. Rider Ethan Brown reported the gelding was inclined to lay in when placed under pressure and in his opinion, failed to handle the Heavy 8 track conditions. A post-race endoscopic examination identified a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the horses racing performance. A veterinary clearance will be required to be submitted to the Stewards before the horse is permitted to start in another race.

Mayan Raced four wide without cover for the majority of the race.

Commander Harry (NZ) Held up for clear running from the 400m until passing the 200m.

Spare Coin Laid in under pressure in the straight.

Denero Held up for clear running from the 400m and was obliged to shift out around heels to secure clear running passing the 200m.

Samedi Rider Ryan Houston explained that his instructions were dependent on how the horse began. R Houston added that after the gelding began well he allowed the horse to stride forward.
