Stewards questioned rider Blake Shinn as to whether there was an opportunity to shift to a three-wide position near the 700m which may have afforded him an opportunity to obtain clear running in the straight. Blake Shinn stated that as the colt was having its first start over 1600m, he did not wish to shift wider so early, so as to give his mount the best chance to finish the race off.

Ginger Sweet Brushed by Sacredarro (USA) near the 50m.
