Matowatakpe – Slow to begin. Rider App T Sherry reported that in his opinion the gelding is now looking to be stepped up in distance for its next start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Frozen In Time – Rider J Collett advised his intention was to settle more forward on the mare but after jumping awkwardly Frozen In Time did not show the expected early pace despite his efforts to take up a more forward position and as a consequence settled further back than what had been intended.
Brazenpine – Jumped awkwardly.
Favra – Was slow to begin and shortly after was steadied when crowded between Delacour and Triple Ace which shifted out. Between the 400m and the 350m was held up when being directed to the outside of Frozen In Time to secure clear running.
Dawn Too Good – In the early stages overraced and refused to settle as its rider endeavoured to secure a position with cover behind Delacour.
Delacour – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
Toro Toro – Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with Kaipaki.
Pinnacle Prince – For a short distance near the 350m was held up for clear running behind Chap's Dream. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be displaying soreness in the near foreleg for which Pinnacle Prince was treated. Stable representative Ms S Alexander undertook to report back on the post-race condition of Pinnacle Prince in the days subsequent.
Moyassar – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance rider S Clipperton stated that the gelding was able to take up a favourable position with cover but did not finish the race off as was expected. He added that the only explanation he could offer for this performance was that the gelding was inclined to race keenly with blinkers for the first time. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slow to recover. Trainer Mr C Morgan stated that it is now his intention to remove the blinkers from the gelding and to take it back in grade for its next race start. Mr Morgan undertook to report back to the Stewards on the post-race condition of Moyassar in the days subsequent.
Texas Storm – Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages and hung out. Near the 600m Texas Storm shifted out towards the heels of Previso and had to be steadied.
Equal Balance – Trainer Mr K Goldman was fined the sum of $100 under AR206(2) for failing to notify Stewards that the gelding's concussion plates had been removed and approved race plates had been applied. Near the 350m was steadied when disappointed for clear running between Previso and Texas Storm both of which shifted ground. Equal Balance was then shifted to the inside of Texas Storm at the 300m where it secured clear running.
Joey’s Chance – Jumped awkwardly and from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards viewed the patrol films to ascertain if there were sufficient grounds for a protest against Pinnacle Prince being declared the winner in respect to an incident that occurred near the 350m. When Stewards could not be satisfied there were sufficient grounds to lodge a protest correct weight was declared. J Collett rider of Pinnacle Prince pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 350m he directed his mount to the outside of Chap's Dream which resulted in Lifetime Quest being taken out. As a result Moyassar was taken out onto Banger which in turn was taken out across the running of Joey's Chance resulting in Banger being hampered and Joey's Chance being steadied to avoid the heels of Banger. J Collett's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday 17 January 2021 and to expire on Sunday 24 January 2021 on which day he may ride.
Kaipaki – When questioned regarding the disappointing performance rider J Ford stated that the gelding raced too keenly when positioned in the lead and with Chaps' Dream racing to its outside this was the principal reason as to why Kaipaki raced in a disappointing manner today. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slow to recover.
Chap’s Dream – Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Portuguese Tart – Began awkwardly. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards viewed the patrol films to ascertain if there were grounds for a protest against Pinnacle Prince being declared the winner in respect to an incident that occurred near the 350m. When Stewards could not be satisfied that Portuguese Tart had established clear running to the outside of Joey's Chance they declined to lodge a protest as there were not grounds to do so. Near the 300m was steadied to avoid the heels of Joey's Chance when being shifted to that runner's outside to secure clear running.

Fifteen Aria – In the straight laid in and approaching the 100m was steadied from the heels of Lando Bay (App T Sherry) which shifted out when not clear. App Sherry was reprimanded.
Intuition – When questioned regarding the gelding racing more forward today App C Graham stated that her instructions were to find cover behind the favourite All Time Legend. She added that in the early stages she endeavoured to comply with those instructions however when Onslaught held its position to her inside she was obliged to allow Intuition to stride forward and race outside the lead rather than having to race wide and without cover.
Subedar – Slow to begin. In the straight was inclined to lay in under pressure.
Onslaught – Slow to begin.
Dream Circle – Slow to begin. Approaching the 300m was held up for clear running behind True Detective as it was shifted to that runner's outside to secure clear running.
Off Shaw – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Ulysses – When questioned regarding the gelding leading today App T Sherry stated that his instructions were to be positive on the gelding and after his mount commenced well it was able to obtain the lead in the early stages particularly when Off Shaw, which was a notified change of tactics did not contest that position.
Bold And Wild – The gelding was a late scratching at 3.40pm on veterinary advice after the gelding was found to have blood present in the off-side nostril on arrival to the barriers. The Stewards ruled that all moneys invested on Bold And Wild be refunded in full and that all successful wagers made prior to 3.40pm be subject to the following deductions from the face value of each ticket
1st Ulysses– 5 cents win, 6 cents place
2nd Juventus– 6 cents place
3rd Brutality– 5 cents place
Stable representative Mr S Mclean was advised of the provisions of AR79(8).
Brutality –When questioned regarding the gelding settling back in the field rider K O'Hara stated that from the wide barrier she had anticipated settling towards the rear and after travelling a short distance she commenced to take hold to find cover at the rear of the field behind Donandkim. She added that when the pace of the race from the 1200m continued at a good tempo this resulted in Brutality losing some ground on the runners in front. She added that rather than push her mount forward at this point she elected to allow Brutality to travel where comfortable and she was reluctant to place pressure on her mount at this point as it had an inclination to race keenly when she was successful on the gelding on 23 December 2020. She further stated that after placing her mount under pressure from the 600m Brutality took some time to respond to her urgings before commencing to make ground on the home turn and, after initially contemplating following Greek Hero when that runner did not improve into the race she then shifted her mount to the outside where Brutality commenced to run on well. She further added that over the final 100m the gelding's run peaked and in her opinion Brutality would derive a further benefit in its fitness from today's performance.
Greek Hero – Shortly after the start was crowded between Come Along and Donandkim which shifted in. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance rider K McEvoy stated that the gelding settled in a midfield position and when the pace quickened was able to initially respond to his riding but over the concluding stages was one paced. He added that Greek Hero may be suited being dropped back in grade for its next race start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Donandkim – Jumped awkwardly, made contact with Greek Hero and despite being ridden along in the early stages did not show sufficient pace to take up a more forward position.
King Of Hastings – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.
Bandersnatch – Jumped awkwardly and was shifted behind runners in the early stages from the outside barrier.
Handspun – K McEvoy stated that with the fast early pace of the event the mare was racing at its top to maintain its position behind Pandano and this resulted in the mare finishing the race off in an even manner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Oakfield Twilight – Began awkwardly and bumped Pandano.
Pandano – On jumping was bumped by Oakfield Twilight.
Mr Marathon Man – Stewards permitted S Clipperton to ride the gelding ½kg over its allotted weight of 54.5kg. Jumped awkwardly then shortly after the start was steadied when crowded by Gone Bye which was taken out by Wolfe. In the middle stages raced keenly.
Gone Bye – When questioned regarding the performance App T Sherry stated that with the pace of the event being run at a moderate tempo when the race quickened from the 500m his mount was unable to improve. He added that Gone Bye is more adept in being able to control the pace with a more genuine tempo A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Humbolt Current – Slow to begin and from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.
Missybeel – Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped Laure Me In.
Fulmina – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.
RACE 8: Precise Air Handicap 1800m:
New Arrangement – Near the 900m was hampered and taken wider by Word For Word when that runner shifted out to improve. As a result New Arrangement was left racing wide and without cover from the 900m where it was inclined to overrace.
Word For Word – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be slow to recover.
Loveisili – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. J Collett stated that he had some concerns with the action of gelding and therefore did not fully test it in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stable representative Mr D Greer was advised a veterinary certificate would be required prior Loveisili barrier trialling or racing again.
Miss Redoble – Shortly after the start was checked when crowded between Notabadidea and New Arrangement which both shifted ground. T Sherry rider of Kiss The Bride pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 1400m he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of Miss Redoble resulting in Miss Redoble having to be checked and losing its rightful running. App Sherry's permit to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Saturday 23 January 2021, at the expiration of a suspension that occurred on Friday 1 January 2021, and to expire on Saturday 30 January 2021 on which day he may ride. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Space Is Deep – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Over the final 200m was inclined to lay in.

Notabadidea – When questioned regarding leading and the strong early pace set by Notabadidea App J Richards stated his instructions were, his mount commenced well to take up the lead. He said in accordance with his instructions he rode his mount along in the early stages and was obliged to make some use of the gelding to obtain the lead. He added throughout the early stages he felt his mount was travelling comfortably however was not aware his mount had established a break on the field and for this reason did not elect to restrain his mount in order to reduce the early pace. After considering his explanation Stewards advised App Richards that he made an error of judgement in the early stages in not endeavouring to reduce the pace of the race which would have allowed his mount better opportunity to finish the race off.
Race 9: TAB Handicap 1500m:
Betcha Flying – For a short distance in the middle stages raced keenly and near the 900m was restrained from the heels of More Prophets.
Helga – Rider C Williams reported that his mount, although held up in the early stages of the straight, was somewhat disappointing in the way it finished the race off. Invinciano – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly outside the lead throughout the early and middle stages.
Dame Kiri – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Near the 600m was steadied to avoid the heels of Patrina. L Magorrian, rider of Strawb, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(a) in that near the 400m he directed his mount out when not clear of Dame Kiri, resulting in Dame Kiri being taken out, badly hampered and becoming unbalanced. L Magorrian's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday 17 January 2021 and to expire on Sunday 24 January 2021 on which day he may ride.
Strawb – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.
