RACE 1: Darley 2YO Handicap 1300m:

Overlord – Over the final 200m laid in. Rider H Bowman stated that the colt was slow to begin today and as a consequence settled at the tail of the field in the early stages. He stated that he elected to remain racing one off the fence and this resulted in Overlord and Caesars Palace bumping near the 1100m as Caesars Palace endeavoured to shift Overlord closer to the rail. He further stated that this resulted in Overlord then being inclined to race keenly throughout the middle stages and after improving three-wide into the straight he was of the opinion Overlord finished the race off well and performed to a similar level to its last start. H Bowman was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(i) for using the whip on three consecutive strides prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty Stewards took into account his good record in relation to offences under this rule

Achiever – Between the 150m and 100m raced tight between Overlord and Perfect Radiance as it endeavoured to improve between those runners.

Caesars Palace – Began awkwardly, made contact with the left side of its barrier. Caesars Palace was then shifted behind runners from the outside barrier in the early stages. When being restrained in the early stages to obtain cover, commenced to overrace and refused to settle for some distance.

Perfect Radiance – Began awkwardly. In the middle stages raced keenly.

RACE 2: TAB Highway Class 3 Handicap 1000m:

Glamour Cat – Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Tejori – A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Keen Power – Began awkwardly and lost ground. In the early stages of the straight was inclined to lay out as it endeavoured to secure clear running to the inside of Tallis and as a consequence did not obtain clear running until near the 200m.

Bad Boy For Love – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Near the 500m was hampered when Mouse Almighty ran out when it continued to race ungenerously. Rider R King advised that after following Glamour Cat into the straight she initially contemplated shifting to the outside but when Fair Dinkum did not improve into the race at this point she then elected to shift to the inside and follow the favourite Tejori. She added that after commencing to improve she then looked to secure clear running between Tejori and Glamour Cat but when her mount did not immediately respond to her riding she was obliged to steady when she became disappointed for this run due to Glamour Cat shifting in away from Fair Dinkum. R King further added that she could not fully test Bad Boy For Love over the final 200m of the event.

Just A Flash – Stewards permitted A Hyeronimus to ride the gelding ½kg over its allotted weight of 54.5kg. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Mouse Almighty – Slow to begin and then had to be checked shortly after when Eleazar shifted out. Throughout the middle stages raced ungenerously and laid in behind the heels of Cock Match near the 700m and was steadied.

Mont Genep – On jumping was bumped by Biscara which shifted out. Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

Biscara – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped Mont Genep.

RACE 3: Sporting Chance Cancer Foundation Handicap 2000m:

Foxborough – Rider B Avdulla reported that the filly enjoyed a good run in the race and after making a forward move on the home turn Foxborough did not finish the race off and weakened noticeably. He added that the only explanation he could offer for the performance was that Foxborough may have been feeling the effects of its last start win on a heavy track in the Wagga Guineas. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr J Sargent was advised that Foxborough would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.

Mocambo – Began only fairly and shortly after was crowded by Crown Affair which shifted in.

Just Society – Over the final 200m laid in and proved difficult to ride out.

RACE 4: TAB Live Vision Handicap 2000m:

Canasta – Near the 1600m when being crossed by Mohican (A Adkins) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of that runner which shifted in when not quite clear. A Adkins was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Rider G Boss advised that the gelding travelled well in the run but from the 700m was under pressure and failed to respond to his riding. He added that when he became concerned there may be something amiss with the gelding, he eased his mount down in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr B Baker advised that in his opinion the performance was due to the heavy track conditions. Stewards advised Mr Baker that Canasta would be required to barrier trial to their satisfaction before its next race start.

Shock Alert – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slow to recover. Trainer Mr B Baker advised that Shock Alert would now be spelled.

High Opinion – Was crowded on jumping by Canasta which shifted out.

New Arrangement – Rider J McDonald stated that after improving to a one-off position near the 600m he started a forward move behind Dark Eyes. He stated that when Cyber Intervention shifted out slightly leaving the 500m he then attempted to improve between that runner and Dark Eyes, however when Cyber Intervention held its position, he was obliged to check his mount when disappointed for clear running. He added that he was then held up behind Dark Eyes and commenced to shift to that runners inside soon after straightening whereby New Arrangement secured clear running at the 300m. When questioned as to whether there was an opportunity to improve to the outside of Dark Eyes on straightening J McDonald stated that when disappointed near the 500m his focus was then on securing clear running to the inside and as he elected to shift to the inside of Dark Eyes the run to its outside then opened simultaneously. Over the final 200m laid out under pressure.

Lord Gododdin – Shifted its near-fore plate in the mounting enclosure. After being replated Lord Gododdin was examined by the Club's Veterinary Officer and deemed suitable to race. On jumping made contact with Love Seat resulting in both runners becoming unbalanced.

RACE 6: Calyx @ Coolmore Australia Handicap 1500m:

Bold And Wild – Rider G Boss stated that he was issued with no specific instructions and after beginning well today, elected to settle outside the leader Agassi. He stated that with the moderate tempo Bold And Wild travelled well in the race but failed to finish the race off as expected. He added that the gelding stepping up in distance and second up on today's heavy track were the principal reasons for its disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer Mr B Baker concurred with the views of G Boss and undertook to report back on the post-race condition of Bold And Wild in the days subsequent.

Adana – Began awkwardly and made contact with Agassi.

Agassi – Bumped on jumping by Adana which shifted in.

Oakfield Missile – Slow to begin.

Man Of Peace – Stewards considered a protest lodged by T Clark rider of second placegetter Outrageous against Man Of Peace being declared the winner alleging interference near the 150m. After considering the evidence Stewards established near the 150m Man Of Peace shifted out resulting in contact between Man Of Peace and Outrageous, however over the final 100m on two occasions Outrageous has shifted back in and bumped with Man Of Peace. As Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that had the incidents not occurred that Outrageous would have finished in advance of Man Of Peace, the protest was dismissed.
