RACE 2 – Segenhoe Stud Benchmark 78 Handicap 2400m

Wild Impact– trainer Mr J Thompson advised that a subsequent veterinary examination of the mare revealed no abnormalities.

 

RACE 4 – Inglis 3yo Guineas 1400m

Bandersnatch– trainer Mr G Ryan advised that a subsequent veterinary examination, which included a lameness assessment and scope, revealed no abnormalities.

 

RACE 9 – Arrowfield Ortensia Stakes (Listed) 1100m

Villami– trainer Mr G Ryan subsequently reported he was satisfied with the post-race condition of the filly but advised it has now been spelled.

RACE 7 – Dean Industrial Class 2 Handicap 1500m

Tresse D'or– trainer Mr J Austin advised that he was satisfied with the post-race condition of the gelding.

 

Race 8 – Tilly Benchmark 64 Handicap 2000m

Lancer– stable representative Ms E Reeves advised that the gelding had pulled up well, however it has now been spelled.

 

Apicius– stable representative Ms E Reeves reported the filly pulled up well and confirmed it was now the stable’s intention to drop Apicius back in distance.

                                                                                                                                                     

 

RACE 1 – All Too Hard @ Vinery Handicap 1100m

Street Dancer – hampered on jumping by Strategist, which shifted in.  Passing the 100m had to be steadied from the heels of the tiring Head Legislator and shifted wider on the track to secure clear running.

 

Strategist – began awkwardly and made contact with Street Dancer.  Raced ungenerously throughout the middle stages.

 

Narvaez – began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped Murungal.

 

Yulong Code – slow to begin and then was crowded shortly after the start by Street Dancer, which shifted in.  Held up for clear running on entering the home straight until passing the 200m.  H Bowman was reminded of his obligation to ride his mounts out to the finish line.  In regards to the matter, Stewards acknowledged that Yulong Code was making ground quickly over the concluding stages towards the heels of the eventual winner, Tommy Gold.

 

Tommy Gold – shortly after the start was steadied from the heels of Blossom Star, which shifted out.  Tommy Gold, from its wide barrier, was then shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

Armatree – from the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

Blossom Star – raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

 

Head Legislator – raced ungenerously with its head raised through the early and middle stages.  When asked to explain the disappointing performance today, rider K McEvoy stated the colt overraced during the early and middle stages and whilst it accelerated when asked upon entering the home straight, Head Legislator tired over the concluding stages.  K McEvoy added he believed its racing manners to be the principal reason for its disappointing performance today.

 

Fastconi – raced wide and without cover throughout the event.  A post race veterinary examination revealed the colt to be lame (2/5) in the off hind leg.  Trainer Mr C Waller was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Fastconi barrier trialling or racing again.

 

Dance – held up for clear running upon entering the home straight until passing the 300m.

 

Murungal – laid out in the home straight.  Approaching the 50m had to be steadied from the heels of Blossom Star (S Clipperton), which shifted in and away from Dance.  S Clipperton was advised to exercise more care.

 

RACE 2 – Blue Point @ Darley Handicap 1100m

Miss Spiteful– raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

 

Stooge – slow to begin.

 

Invincible Diva – began awkwardly and from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.  Overraced early and middle stages.

 

Frosty Rocks – began awkwardly.  When asked for an explanation regarding the disappointing performance of the gelding, rider K McEvoy stated that Frosty Rocks travelled well in the early and middle stages and when asked for an effort rounding the home turn, quickened until a point passing the 200m where it commenced to tire and proved disappointing.  He added that in his view Frosty Rocks may appreciate a step up in distance at this stage of its preparation.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  Trainer Mr B Baker expressed some disappointment with the performance of Frosty Rocks and advised it would be his intention to step the gelding up in distance for its next race start.  Mr Baker undertook to report back on the post race condition of the gelding in the days subsequent.

 

Not Feint Hearted – from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners shortly after the start.

 

Capri of Tuffy – was held up for clear running passing the 300m until leaving the 200m and then, when having a tendency to lay in, became awkwardly placed on the heels of Miss Spiteful and made contact with the that filly passing the 100m.

 

RACE 3 – Ranvet Salkavite Handicap 1100m

Anna’s Joy – slow to begin.

 

Dynamited – slow to begin.

 

Margie Bee – began awkwardly.  Rider J Collett reported the mare hung out throughout the event.

 

Wandabaa – began awkwardly, lost ground and then was crowded shortly afterwards by Calipari, which shifted out.   From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

Private Thoughts – began awkwardly and had a tendency to lay out in the early stages.  When asked for an explanation regarding the filly's disappointing performance, rider G Boss stated the filly travelled well, however failed to quicken in the home straight and despite his urgings commenced to tire passing the 300m.  He added that he was disappointed with the filly's performance, however believed Private Thoughts would take a fitness benefit from this race.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

 

Ghostly – slow to begin.  When asked for an explanation regarding the tactics he adopted in the early stages which ultimately resulted in Ghostly losing contact with the main body of the field, App C Williams stated that he was instructed to ride Ghostly from a rearward position.  He added that after restraining the gelding from a wide barrier a short distance after the start to take a position closer to the running rail, the gelding then commenced to lose ground to a point at the 800m where it was some 3 lengths from the second last horse, The Lion.  App Williams further added that approaching the 700m, he commenced to ride Ghostly along in an endeavour to reduce that margin and added that the gelding performed well given that it was obliged to make a long run from just inside the 700m.  The Stewards informed App Williams that he should have ridden with more urgency from the 900m when Ghostly commenced to lose contact with the main body of the field.

 

Up Trumpz – from the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

The Lion – from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.  Approaching the 300m, blundered and then had to be shifted wider on the track between the 300m and 200m to continue into clear running.

 

Space Boy – shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

 

Calipari – raced wide and without cover throughout the event.  A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame (2/5) in the off foreleg.  Trainer Mr M Minervini was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Calipari barrier trialling or racing again.

 

RACE 4 – Sky Racing Active Handicap 1550m

Aesop’s Fable – slow to begin.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

 

Money Magic – slow to begin.  Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

 

Blueant – crowded on jumping between Viren and Flinders, which shifted out.

 

Viren – crowded on jumping between Blueant and Segrill, which shifted in.

 

Segrill – on jumping, shifted in, made contact with Viren and became unbalanced.  Held up for clear running from passing the 350m until the 200m.

 

Fill Of Fun – from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

Ulysses – approaching the 1100m, had to be steadied from the heels of Moreno (H Bowman) when that horse shifted in when racing fiercely.  H Bowman was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.

 

Moreno – when asked to explain the disappointing performance, rider H Bowman stated that his mount overraced throughout the event and as a result commenced to compound in the early stages of the straight.  He added that he did not unduly pressure the gelding inside the final 200m given the manner in which it commenced to weaken in the early stages of the straight.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  Stable representative Mr C Duckworth advised that Moreno would now be spelled.  Notwithstanding this advice, he was advised that Moreno must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again.

 

Significance – rider A Hyeronimus stated that his mount overraced throughout the middle stages and he believed this to be the principal factor for why the colt could not finish the race off.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  Trainer Mr J O’Shea believed the genuine tempo set through the early and middle stages to be the principal reason that the colt was unable to finish the race off as expected.  He added that he would recommend to the owners that Significance be gelded and spelled. 

 

Flinders – when asked to explain the disappointing performance, rider J McDonald stated that in his view the gelding raced flat and was unable to accelerate off what was a genuine tempo.  He added that in his opinion the gelding may not have backed up from its last start at Canterbury on 6 May 2020.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

 

RACE 5 – Vale Caryl Williamson Handicap 1400m

Jazette – began awkwardly.

 

Archanna – began only fairly.  Rider J McDonald informed Stewards that when placed under pressure in the early part of the straight, Archanna had a tendency to lay in and in his view, the filly was still immature.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

 

Got Your Six – slow to begin.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

 

Maggie Miss – on jumping was crowded between Rockarosa and Renalot, both of which shifted ground.  In this incident, both Renalot and Maggie Miss became unbalanced.

 

Renalot – from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.  A post race veterinary examination revealed Renalot to have lost its off fore plate.

 

Le Lude – from the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

Rockarosa – passing the 100m, became awkwardly placed on the heels of Riva Capri.

 

RACE 6 – Heineken 3 Handicap 1300m

Reformist – began awkwardly and lost ground.  Leaving the 650m had to be steadied from the heels of Bombasay, which shifted ground when hanging in despite the efforts of its rider.  When asked to explain the disappointing performance, rider H Bowman stated in his view the gelding was unsuited by having to chase the leaders a considerable distance from the finish and would be better suited when able to make use of its sprint off a softer tempo.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

 

Bombasay – began awkwardly.  Laid in in the home straight placing its rider at a disadvantage from fully testing the gelding.

 

Lancaster Bomber – was crowded on jumping by Bombasay, which shifted in.

 

Orcein – slow to begin.  Laid in under pressure in the home straight.

 

Epic Dan – began only fairly and from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.  Raced in restricted room between Baanone and Lancaster Bomber over the concluding stages and as a consequence was unable to fully tested.

 

Crafty Tycoon – raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

 


RACE 7 – TAB Handicap 1550m

Korcho – as J McDonald was duly engaged, permission was given for T Clark to be substituted as the rider of the horse.  Had difficulty securing clear running in the early stages of the home straight.

 

Wild About Her – began only fairly.

 

Casino Mondial – began only fairly.  Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.  When tiring passing the 250m, had to be steadied from the heels of Itz Lily (App L Day), which shifted out.  App Day was advised to exercise more care.  A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame (1/2) in the near foreleg.  Trainer Mr M Byers was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Casino Mondial barrier trialling or racing again.

 

Miss Redoble – slow to begin (2L).  Overraced in the early and middle stages and near the 800m, when being restrained from the heels of Mangione, shifted out and raced wide on the track for a short distance.

 

Itz Lily – from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.  Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the home straight until passing the 250m.

 

California Salto – from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.  Rider H Bowman was reminded of his obligations to ride his mounts out to the finish line.

 

My Swashbuckler – rider K McEvoy reported the horse raced fresh today and would take a fitness benefit from its performance.  A post race veterinary examination revealed My Swashbuckler to be slow to recover.
