2021 ATC Australian Derby: Tips And Race Preview

Selecting the kiwis to run big races in the Tips and Race Preview for the 2021 ATC Australian Derby, Rocket Spade can do the Derby double at $8.

Yaletown should be able to comfortably find the front. ROCKET SPADE (2) ran on strongly from the rear of the field to win the NZ Derby and arrives in Australia off a soft success in weaker company over the mile at Tauranga. One of only two in the field who are proven over the trip.

YALETOWN (6) has improved with each run this prep and led throughout for a half-length victory in the Tulloch Stakes, a race which has a nursery for Derby winners a fortnight later. Looks a great chance at odds to become the fifth horse in as many years to claim the Tulloch/Australian Derby double. THE FRONTMAN (5) placed in the NZ Derby before disappointing in the Tulloch Stakes where he wanted to over race. Trainer has won this race on five occasions including the 2020 renewal with Quick Thinker.

LION'S ROAR (1) was again running on strongly in the Rosehill Guineas. Like his pedigree profile out to 12 furlongs. MONTEFILIA (16) has found the line well both runs this prep. Placed in the VRC Oaks last spring. SKY LAB (3) next best from the Rosehill Guineas.

2021 ATC AUSTRALIAN DERBY – SELECTIONS

1st – 2 Rocket Spade

2nd – 6 Yaletown

3rd – 5 The Frontman

4th – 1 Lion's Roar

2021 ATC Sires Produce: Tips And Race Preview

The best from the Slipper leads the Tips and Race Preview for the 2021 ATC Sires Produce, Anamoe flashed home at Rosehill and is at $2.10.

Lightsaber has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. Golden Slipper runner up ANAMOE (1) is clearly the one to beat. Won the Todman Stakes two starts back before closing strongly late for a second behind Slipper winner Stay Inside. No surprise the Golden Slipper is the dominant form line brought into a Sires' Produce with three of the past five Sires' winners coming out of the Golden Slipper. One of those included former Godolphin colt and 2019 Golden Slipper runner up Microphone. Suspect history can repeat.

TIGER OF MALAY (4) could be set to peak third run from a spell. Showed good improvement second up in the Pago Pago Stakes with Blinkers for the first time. Kept ticking over since with a Randwick trial win. LIGHTSABER (3) brings a new form reference into the event off three straight wins in Victoria. The only two-year-old in the field proven at the trip having won the VRC Sires. CAPTIVANT (2) made solid late ground when fifth in the Golden Slipper. FOUR MOVES AHEAD (8) was solid enough in the Slipper as the first filly past the post.

2021 ATC SIRES PRODUCE – SELECTIONS

1st – 1 Anamoe

2nd – 4 Tiger Of Malay

3rd – 3 Lightsaber

4th – 2 Captivant

2021 TJ Smith Stakes: Tips And Race Preview

Taking a back to back winner in the Tips and Race Preview for the 2021 TJ Smith Stakes. Nature Strip can explode again at $3.50.

Slick tempo assured from Nature Strip and Eduardo leading the charge. NATURE STRIP (2) starts as favourite looking to defend his 2020 TJ Smith Stakes success.

Follows the same campaign path as last season arriving third up after contesting the Black Caviar Lightning and the Challenge Stakes. Was beaten narrowly as odds on favourite in the Challenge Stakes by Eduardo who had to break the 1000m Randwick track record just to deliver a nose victory and has franked the form with a dominant Galaxy win. Nature Strip in the meantime like in 2020 has been kept ticking over with a soft Randwick trial. Expect a big display.

MASKED CRUSADER (5) is the new kid on the block having ascended to Group 1 level in claiming the William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley on March 19. Is a horse on the up. EDUARDO (3) goes from strength to strength under the care of Joe Pride. Should be peaking third up and can remain unbeaten this prep. BIVOUAC (1) has been a shade below his best so far this campaign however is a multiple Group 1 winner who must still be respected.

2021 TJ SMITH STAKES – SELECTIONS

1st – 2 Nature Strip

2nd – 5 Masked Crusader

3rd – 3 Eduardo

4th – 1 Bivouac

2021 Doncaster Mile: Tips And Race Preview

The class comes to the top in the Tips and Race Preview for the 2021 Doncaster Mile, tipping the fav Mugatoo at $4.20 to win.

Samadoubt and Yao Dash to push forward from wide out and set a strong tempo. MUGATOO (1) most recently showed his class when winning the All Star Mile at Moonee Valley on March 13. Third up record is strong and is capable on all ground. Drawn to enjoy a cosy run in transit from barrier 4 under the guidance of Hugh Bowman and warrants plenty of respect.

THINK IT OVER (12) is the weight horse of the race, dropping back to handicap conditions after winning the Group 1 George Ryder at weight-for-age. Should be at his peak fourth run from a spell. AVILIUS (2) is a multiple Group 1 winner who has built towards this with placings in the Chipping Norton Stakes and the George Ryder Stakes. Meets Think It Over 3.5kg worse at the weights for a slender defeat however certainly has the stronger overall C.V.

MO'UNGA (19) has improved with each run this prep, last start winning the Rosehill Guineas. A colt on the up who just needs favours getting back from a wide gate. AEGON (9) perhaps felt the firm track when sixth in the Randwick Guineas. Unbeaten prior to that. Respect.

2021 DONCASTER MILE – SELECTIONS

1st – 1 Mugatoo

2nd – 12 Think It Over

3rd – 2 Avilius

4th – 19 Mo'Unga

2021 Kindergarten Stakes: Tips And Race Preview

A noted 2yo stable heads the Tips and Race Preview for the 2021 Kindergarten Stakes, Vandoula Lass runs for Team Hawkes at $5.

Blistering early speed with Best Side spearing over from an outside gate while Vandoula Lass and Subterranean boot up underneath.

VANDOULA LASS (8) resumes. Has been given time to mature since a strong maiden prep which included a debut win and a second to the talented Rocket Tiger. Should get first look at the track from a low barrier and take running down. BEST SIDE (5) was just collared late on debut over the Kensington 1100m. Will have taken valuable race experience from the run. Breed tend to handle rain affected ground rather effortlessly.

KING OF SPARTA (3) has shown promise to date without winning. Was closing late in the Silver Slipper and gives the indication he will thrive out to 1200m. PAULELE (1) drops back in trip after a somewhat unlucky seventh in the VRC Sires' Produce. Kept ticking over with a Randwick trial. BAHAMA (11) debuts. From a proven family and deserves a market watch off a strong Warwick Farm trial.

2021 KINDERGARTEN STAKES – SELECTIONS

1st – 8 Vandoula Lass

2nd – 5 Best Side

3rd – 3 King Of Sparta

4th – 1 Paulele

2021 Carbine Club Stakes: Tips And Race Preview

As well warn path applies in the Tips and Race Preview for the 2021 Carbine Club Stakes, Wheelhouse for Waller is back from 2000m here and is at $4.40.

Solid tempo with several going forward headed by Easy Campese. WHEELHOUSE (2) has held his own in both the Randwick and Rosehill Guineas, beaten less than two lengths in both. Drops back to weaker three-year-old company and suspect he can capitalise.

THE IRISHMAN (4) has looked good in two runs since arriving in Australia. Won first up at Warwick Farm and not beaten far last start when second in the Phar Lap Stakes. Kept ticking over with a Rosehill trial. Appeals third up. HIGH SUPREMACY (8) showed good improvement when second in the Canberra Guineas. Kept ticking over with a Warwick Farm trial. Booking of James McDonald is notable.

POLAND (1) won the Autumn Stakes first up before a tough day out at Rosehill in the Phar Lap Stakes. Has since been back to the trials, winning a Randwick heat. Can return to form. KIKU (12) lines up in her toughest assignment to date. Deserves her chance at black type however as she chases a hat-trick of wins to commence her prep.

2021 CARBINE CLUB STAKES – SELECTIONS

1st – 2 Wheelhouse

2nd – 4 The Irishman

3rd – 8 High Supremacy

4th – 1 Poland

2021 Adrian Knox Stakes: Tips And Race Preview

Backing Godolphin in an open race in the Tips and Race Preview for the 2021 Adrian Knox Stakes at Randwick. Flexible is a wide fav at $4.80.

Easifar and Chequerboard can set up a strong early tempo from their inside draws. Open race with a host of different form lines.

FLEXIBLE (3) was finding the line well against the older horses when placing on the Randwick Kensington over 1800m last start. Drops back to her own age and sex which will suit. DUAIS (5) returned from a freshen up in winning form, saluting over the mile at Warwick Farm. Will take improvement from the outing and Bowman staying aboard is a positive lead.

DARLING DIAMOND (11) ran second in that event, beaten half a length. Now meets the winner 1kg better at the weights. Effort two back in the Kembla Grange Classic was also strong. CHEQUERBOARD (2) is of interest following her Tasmanian Oaks victory. McDonald riding also noteworthy. EASIFAR (4) should land prominent from a low gate. Best results to date have come when able to lead.

2021 ADRIAN KNOX STAKES – SELECTIONS

1st – 3 Flexible

2nd – 5 Duais

3rd – 11 Darling Diamond

4th – 2 Chequerboard

2021 Chairman’s Quality: Tips And Race Preview

Going for the leader in the Tips and Race Preview for the 2021 Chairman’s Quality. Sacramento is hard fit and gets his race at $4.60.

The speedy Sacramento should find the front with Quick Thinker and Hush Writer on his heels. SACRAMENTO (6) is enjoying a superb campaign having well and truly developed into a Group level stayer. Placed last start in the Manion Cup despite not being able to take up his customary forward position. Should be able to get across and lead.

CONCERT HALL (2) makes her Australian debut. Is a five time Group winner in New Zealand which includes the 2020 Group 1 Zabeel Classic. Should be hitting her straps third up and thrives on rain affected ground. DADOOZDART (8) gets the Blinkers reapplied after being well held in the Manion Cup. Was found to be mildly lame post race. The run prior fell just short of victory in the Canberra Cup.

COLLIDE (9) got too far back in the Manion Cup last start. Australian debut the start prior when third in the Randwick City Stakes was encouraging. Expect a more positive ride third up from barrier 1. HUSH WRITER (5) is going well this prep. Should be peaking fourth run from a spell however does tend to spin his wheels somewhat on wet tracks.

2021 CHAIRMAN'S QUALITY – SELECTIONS

1st – 6 Sacramento

2nd – 2 Concert Hall

3rd – 8 Dadoozdart

4th – 9 Collide

2021 PJ Bell Stakes: Tips And Race Preview

Ignoring a wide draw in the Tips and Race Preview for the 2021 PJ Bell Stakes, Marboosha can overcome that at $5.50.

Najmah, Calgary Queen and Barossa Rosa to match motors but there will be plenty of pressure from other quarters. MARBOOSHA (3) returns to her own sex after winning the Incognitus Stakes first up and running fourth in the Darby Munro a fortnight ago. Ultra consistent filly who looks suited third run from a spell.

MACROURA (2) returns to Sydney after winning the Typhoon Tracy Stakes at Moonee Valley first up off a short break. Another in the market who doesn't know how to run a bad race. NEVER TALK (6) was making late ground last start in the Surround Stakes and also the Light Fingers Stakes. Plenty of speed on up front. Should be able to settle back off that and rattle home.

EVERY ROSE (1) won the Light Fingers Stakes first up. Has disappointed since however should appreciate the anticipated rain affected ground. NAJMAH (8) is beautifully bred. Faces a class rise on what she has contested so far this prep but the chance for her to gain some black type too strong to ignore.

2021 PJ BELL STAKES – SELECTIONS

1st – 3 Marboosha

2nd – 2 Macroura

3rd – 6 Never Talk

4th – 1 Every Rose
