Race analysis and race selections for Saturday's racing at Kranji

RACE 1

1st Pick: PRODIGAL (9)
Bounced back into form last start with a strong second placing and held up in restricted room. Gets in well at the weights and will be attacking the line.
2nd Pick: GOLD GOVERNOR (2)
Didn’t fire a shot at this level last start and has been a while since he has been around the mix. Gets a favorable draw from a leading stable.
3rd Pick: CITY GOLD FRIEND (1)
Makes the drop back to class five where he last won back in November last year. This looks more to his ability and watch for any strong market support.
4th Pick: RED DRAGON (3)
Has one win to his name at this distance and is looking to get back into some form. Gets the services of Maia in the saddle and will need luck from the wide draw.

RACE 2

1st Pick: SANTINO (3)
Continues to improve with each run, had every chance to win last start and was just defeated by Pacific Gold. He now finds an easier race with a small field. Comes up to 1400m for the first time and obtains an okay draw.
2nd Pick: BOARDROOM (4)
A great first win two starts back in maiden grade over 1600m. Had an attempt in the Three-Year-Old series and never came into it. Should strip fitter from that run but draws wide this week.
3rd Pick: CREATIVE DREAMS (1)
Hasn’t been far off the mark in his last few runs. He was beaten by Roda Robot last time out. He has a terrific record over the 1400m.
4th Pick: TOMMY GUN (2)
He dropped out last start when attempting 1400m for the first time here in Singapore. He could bounce back this week but needs everything to go his way.

RACE 3

1st Pick: OUTFIT (1)
Last start winner who rises sharply in the weights and does get some positives including a low draw and strong course and distance record. Leading stable and big chance.
2nd Pick: BLUEJAY (8)
Placed in three of his last five starts with some good class five form lines in his favor. Draws nicely in barrier two and a new rider jumps aboard.
3rd Pick: THE WILD PRINCE (7)
His win at huge odds was no surprise three starts back. You cannot forget the course and distance record that includes four wins and two minors. Cannot be left out.
4th Pick: OPPA (4)
Looked sharp in his work during the week and gets the blinkers and pacifiers back on to improve his form. Can be a quartet player at good odds.

RACE 4

1st Pick: MAXIMA (1)
He put in a great first-up run last start finishing third to Flying Nemo in the same grade. He should take plenty of improvement from that, still lightly raced and has a lot to offer for the rest of the season.
2nd Pick: ENERGY BABY (2)
Things didn’t go to plan last time out, raced wide with no cover. Had a recent veterinary exam with no abnormality so could bounce back here. He’s been very competitive in this grade in the past.
3rd Pick: RENZO (3)
Finished behind Ejaz at the start of June on the Poly track over 1100m. He will need to bring his best over 1600m and on the turf where he has recorded one minor placing. Should get a good run and finish off late.
4th Pick: ALWAYS TOGETHER (7)
Nice fifth most recently in class 3, sat behind the pace and closed off brilliantly behind Ejaz. Now comes up to 1600m for the first time. Could be in the mix.

RACE 5

1st Pick: BIG DAY (8)
Was favored in the market last start in a similar race. Should get a lovely run from barrier three and the in-form rider Bernardo Pinheiro has been booked to ride.
2nd Pick: WAN LEGACY (2)
Last start winner who gets a four-kilogram claim and comes down to 54kgs which puts him right into contention. Should be nice and positive early in the run.
3rd Pick: SEE YAH (3)
He has been a great money spinner for connections with some of his best performances coming at this distance. TH Koh has a great record when riding him so key rider change.
4th Pick: PACIFIC DREAM (1)
Top rated galloper in this field and gets our leading apprentice in the saddle. Ran an improved race last start and looking to him as an each way play here.

RACE 6

1st Pick: SMART STAR (1)
He’s been a frustrating horse for connections and punters, always well supported on race day but continues to have excuses with each run. Should be respected again but carries the top weight. Key player.
2nd Pick: GALAXY BAR (3)
Great win last start over 1800m defeating the prominent stayer Smart Star. Loves to roll forward and is stepping up to 2000m for the first time. He will be well-supported on race day and can win again.
3rd Pick: PACIFIC BAO BEI (2)
One-for-one at the 2000m, could be a big danger in this. He had some excuses in recent past but can map forward in this race. Last time he was at this distance he defeated a strong stayer in Winning Stride. Could surprise.
4th Pick: JUNE (5)
Comes out of the Singapore Three-Year-Old Series, closed off well in the Guineas finishing fourth to Ace Of Diamonds. Biggest question mark is 2000m for this horse but could be a value play.

RACE 7

1st Pick: VGOR (11)
Ran on from well back for a strong second placing behind Outfit in similar conditions. Curatolo takes the ride and will need good speed on early to figure.
2nd Pick: WAR WARRIOR (3)
The one thing that stands out when you see him is Pinheiro has been booked to ride and has a 50%-win record aboard him. Looks well placed in this event.
3rd Pick: SUMMER WIND (1)
His best runs have been on the turf in his career, but he does have one win to his name on his surface and comes from the leading stable. Expect market support.
4th Pick: CAPTAIN SINGAPORE (4)
Draws the same barrier that he got last start. He is coming into this race with some positive runs to his name in his last five starts. Can surprise in a field like this.

RACE 8

1st Pick: TE AKAU BEN (1)
Racing so well in this grade, building a terrific record over 1400m. Should be the horse to beat in this race but will carry the top weight. He continues to improve with each run and should be respected. Draws wide.
2nd Pick: AMAZING BREEZE (2)
A great horse for connections, always around the placings and his last few runs have been encouraging even with excuses. He will get back and finish like a train. Relishes the 1400m distance.
3rd Pick: SHOW ALL SIXTY-ONE (7)
The likely leader in this race. Wasn’t beaten far last start behind Sousui. Lightly raced 5yo with a handy record. He is very brave and could get the race to suit.
4th Pick: COLONEL SON (4)
Hasn’t been far off the mark in his last couple of performances. He appreciated the step up to 1400m last start and could surprise on the turf.

RACE 9

1st Pick: CONTARELLI (4)
Pinheiro retains the ride and looking for a more genuine run race than he got last start where the leader walked early, kicked clear, and won. He is more than capable of a big run here.
2nd Pick: LIM'S DREAMWALKER (2)
Placed in three of his last five outings when well supported in betting in those runs. Has the ability to figure here and wearing the Lim’s colours will be well in the market.
3rd Pick: GEOBELS GLORY (1)
Boxed on well for a big minor placing behind Fortune Star. Looked under pressure at the 500 mark and was in for the fight. Could be the early favorite here.
4th Pick: ATLAS (6)
Stable have done a great job to revive this gelding’s career resulting in two wins and a placing at his last few starts. Racing well and pays to follow him when he is hot.

RACE 10

1st Pick: BIG UNION (5)
Great upcoming horse for the Jerome Tan stable, showed plenty of ability in his first two performances in class 4 and broke through impressively last start in maiden grade. Should be respected again. Drawn wide.
2nd Pick: PALETAS (6)
Won well last start in this class. He likes to roll forward and appreciates the all-weather Poly track. Had two recent trials which were okay. Obtains a perfect draw in barrier three.
3rd Pick: PACIFIC ATLANTIC (4)
Much improved run last time out. He is building a great record here in Singapore from only five starts. Daniel Moor retains the ride but has drawn wide this weekend. Watch betting support. Okay.
4th Pick: PER INCROWN (3)
He has an electric turn of foot over 1200m on the all-weather Poly track. Last start he was caught wide and never came into the race. Could bounce back this weekend with Curatolo taking the ride.
