RACE 1 F&M Maiden Plate 1200m:

Flying Grace – Near the 800m, when racing keenly, had to be eased form the heels of Uconic. Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.

 

I’m Gunna Cashew – Raced keenly and was inclined to lay out throughout the middle stages.

 

Orbital Express – Slow to begin. Approaching the 300m was inconvenienced by Personality Plus, which was bumped and taken out by Sally Jean.

 

Personality Plus – Slow to begin. Raced wide and without cover from the 800m.

 

Sally Jean – Approaching the 800m commenced to race keenly and near the 700m got its head up on a number of occasions, shifted out and bumped Personality Plus. In the early part of the straight, when attempting to improve into a narrow run to the outside of Belleplaine, made contact with Personality Plus on two occasions. When questioned regarding the performance, App. B Griffiths advised that in his opinion Sally Jean would be better suited in races over further distance. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any significant abnormalities.

 

Uconic – Began only fairly.

 

RACE 2 CG&E Maiden Plate 1200m:

Game Royal – Began awkwardly. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

 

Go Gazza – Began awkwardly and was then shifted behind runners from its wide barrier.

 

Higgins – Began awkwardly. Near the 900m, after being crossed by Surmise, commenced to race keenly and had to be eased from the heels of that runner for some distance.

 

Legend Rules – Began awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with On Bail. Overraced in the early stages and proved difficult to settle.

 

On Bail (NZ) – Slow to begin and shortly after was bumped heavily by Legend Rules, which shifted out. Passing the 100m was shifted to the inside of Higgins to continue into clear running.

 

RACE 3 2YO Maiden Plate 900m:

Ambitious Fella – Began awkwardly and then failed to muster speed in the early stages, despite the efforts of its rider, and lost touch with the remainder of the field. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

 

Hallowed Son – Slow to begin. Near the 100m was briefly crowded between Satin Ribbons and I Love Lucy, which shifted in before being corrected by its rider.

 

Scarzel – When questioned regarding the performance, apprentice T Schiller stated that his mount travelled well outside the leader and the only explanation he could offer for its failure to finish its race off is that the gelding was not entirely comfortably in the soft track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

 

Commands Respect – From its wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

I Love Lucy – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

 

Satin Ribbons – Began awkwardly and shortly after was bumped by Scarzel, which shifted out. Inclined to lay out throughout the middle stages of the event.

 

Sizzle Chic – From its wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

Ultra – Slow to begin. Held up momentarily in the early part of the home straight.

 

Wokenwithakiss – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

RACE 4 Class 1 Handicap 1400m:

Destacado – Near the 250m was disappointed for clear running between Pyraminx and Elani Rose, which shifted in. Destacado was then held up until near the 150m, where it was shifted to the outside of Just Cosmos to secure clear running.

 

Dream Eclipse – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

Pyraminx – When questionedR Hutchings could offer no explanation for the poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealedno abnormalities. Stewards will follow up on the post-race condition of the gelding.

 

General Soleil – Raced wide and without cover from the 800m.

 

Confessed – Passing the 600m was checked from the heels of Just Cosmos.

 

Elani Rose – Slow to begin. Pulled hard in the middle stages.

 

Leave Me Be – Near the 500m was eased when crowded between Confessed and General Soleil which shifted in marginally.

 

RACE 5 Maiden Handicap 1880m:

Deep Encounter (JPN) – Held up momentarily rounding the home turn.

 

Contradeel – Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

 

The Carpet Bagger (NZ) – Was crowded on jumping between Sir Gunsen and Deep Encounter, which shifted out. Rounding the home turn was steadied when crowded between Turnaround Time and Deep Encounter, which was taken out by Sir Gunsen (R Freeman-Key), which shifted out when not clear. R Freeman-Key was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

 

Kiterro – From its wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Raced keenly in the early stages.

 

Lady Steps – Slow to begin and was then shifted behind runners from its wide barrier in the early stages.

 

Lover Girl (NZ) – Bounded on jumping and lost ground.

 

Marsh Lillie – From its wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

Miss Delia – Passing the 600m became held up on the heels of The Carpet Bagger and rounding the home turn had to be steadied from the heels of that runner. Miss Delia was then shifted to the outside of Kiterro to secure clear running near the 400m.

 

Sea Of Flames – Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding, which was beaten 30L, revealed no abnormalities. When questioned regarding the performance, trainer Ms B. Somers expressed some disappointment with the ride of apprentice E Hennessy and advised that in her opinion Sea Of Flames performs much better when ridden conservatively in its races. Ms Somers was told that bearing in mind the beaten margin and that Sea Of Flames was giving ground as far out as the 800m, the gelding would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again.

 

Sir Gunsen – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slow to recover.

 

Superlunar (NZ) – Rider P Romeo reported that his mount commenced to hang out passing the 900m and when it did not respond to his efforts to shift back in to the rail he eased the gelding down from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer Mr A. Cummings was advised that Superlunar would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards before racing again.

 

RACE 6 Class 1 Handicap 1200m: 

Free State – Had difficulty securing completely clear running until near the 200m.

 

Matterhorn (NZ) – Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.

 

Innisbrook – Began awkwardly and was bumped by Titan Star, which shifted out. Raced wide and without cover throughout the event. Near the 150m, when weakening, was eased when momentarily crowded between Titan Star and Writeoff, which shifted out slightly. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding did not reveal any significant abnormalities.

 

Sam Spade – From its wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

Indigenous – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Momentarily held up rounding the home turn.

 

Sparky Girl – Slow to begin and was then shifted in behind runners from its wide barrier in the early stages.

 

Titan Star – Began awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with Innisbrook. Raced keenly in the early stages.

 

Writeoff – From its wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

RACE 7 Benchmark 64 1600m:

Recondite (IRE) – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Near the 500m was disappointed for a narrow run between Cecilia and Mercury and was then held up for a short distance after. B Loy pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he struck his mount with the whip on 12 occasions prior to the 100m, 7 more than permitted. B Loy’s license to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday 13 June 2021 and to expire on Saturday 19 June 2021, on which day he may ride.

 

Jaja Chaboogie – When questioned regarding the performance App. D Gibbons stated that his mount travelled well in the lead throughout the early and middle stages and he could offer no explanation for its failure to finish its race off in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any significant abnormalities.

 

Savvy Legend (NZ) – Inclined to lay in when placed under pressure in the straight. Near the 300m was hampered when Rockover shifted out. Passing the 200m was crowded between Rockover and Cecilia, which shifted in before being corrected by its rider.

 

Man Of Sinn (NZ) – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. When questioned, rider C Lever stated that from the outside barrier he was instructed to ride his mount conservatively, however when the tempo in the early stages was moderate and his mount was inclined to race keenly it was left racing wide towards the rear of the field, where it continued to overrace throughout the middle stages. C Lever added that when the tempo of the race increased from the 600m his mount was continually forced wider on the track and was then unable to finish its race off in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be 2/5 lame in the off-foreleg. Trainer Mr C. Waller was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to Man Of Sinn racing again.

 

Cecilia (NZ) – Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

 

Mercury – Slow to begin. Raced keenly in the middle stages.

 

Rockover – Trainer Mr G Portelli was fined $200 under LR35(2) for the late declaration of R Hutchings as the rider. Began awkwardly and made heavy contact with the near-side front gate of its barrier. From its wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Shifted out under pressure near the 300m and when being corrected by its rider overreacted, shifted in abruptly and then raced ungenerously with its head up for some distance thereafter.Trainer Mr G. Portelli was advised that Rockover would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again. Following the running of this race rider R Hutchings reported that when his mount began awkwardly he struck his left shoulder on the barriers, which was causing him some discomfort. R Hutchings was subsequently stood down from his remaining engagement.

 

Joe’s Joy – Raced keenly throughout the early and middle stages of the event.

 

Tisane – From its wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

 

RACE 8 Benchmark 68 Handicap 1300m:

Banjo’s Voice – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

 

Roman Wolf – When questioned regarding the performance, rider J Penza stated that his mount never travelled comfortably at any stage and in his opinion it failed to handle today’s soft track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

 

The Empire – As R Hutchings became indisposed due to an injury sustained during Race 7 Stewards permitted J Taylor to be substituted as the rider.

 

Microna – Began awkwardly. Near the 900m was eased to avoid the heels of Banjo’s Voice (apprentice D Gibbons), which shifted in when not fully clear. Apprentice Gibbons was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground.

 

Ambitious Prince – Slow to begin and was then shifted behind runners from its wide barrier in the early stages.

 

Nothing Too Hard – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

 

Waiting For A Mate – As apprentice M Waters was injured during trackwork this morning Stewards permitted App. E. Hennessey to be substituted as the rider. Began awkwardly. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

 

Lexi’s Mate – Slow to begin and was then shifted behind runners from its wide barrier in the early stages.

 

Vega De Lago – Slow to begin and was then shifted behind runners from its wide barrier in the early stages.
