2020 Newcastle Cup: Tips And Race Preview

Going for the favourite in the Tips and Race Preview for the 2020 Newcastle Cup at Newcastle on Friday. Mugatoo is in top form deserving of the $2.15 price.

Looking for Norway, Herengawe and Hush Writer to quickly push to the lead and set a solid tempo. Wyong Cup form vs Mugatoo here.

How can you go past MUGATOO (1). He's got a superb winning record for a stayer and is five from seven in Australia. Just too classy in the Premier's Cup off five weeks last start, justifying the short quote. Many of today's rivals tackled the Wyong Cup and it's fair to say he would've had the wood on them had he contested that race. Loves to win and he's proven to 2400m when a narrow second to Young Rascal. Mighty hard to beat on his home track.

HUSH WRITER (2) was first-up in the Wyong Cup and was terrific when left a sitting shot for Paths Of Glory. Won this race last year (was third-up). Noticeably fitter and will look the winner at some stage. THE LORD MAYOR (9) sneaks around at good odds in most of his starts. Came from a rearward spot in the lead-up race to narrowly miss. Will get last look. ALIFEROUS (14) and CARZOFF (4) for the exotics.

2020 NEWCASTLE CUP – SELECTIONS

1st – 1 Mugatoo

2nd – 2 Hush Writer

3rd – 9 The Lord Mayor

4th – 14 Aliferous

2020 Cameron Handicap: Tips And Race Preview

Tips and Race Preview for the 2020 Cameron Handicap tips a back to back winner, Rock won it in 2019 and is a $3.50 chance to do it again.

Pace looks strong where Just Thinkin' and Quackerjack will forge to the lead closely followed by Special Reward and McCormack.

ROCK (6) won this race last year and love his set-up again this year. Slow getaway meant he was last in transit in the Tramsay first-up but still zipped home to be beaten under 2L, recording the fastest L600 of the race. Epsom run was outstanding off a wide run and he is 2/2 second-up. Will take plenty of beating.

SPECIAL REWARD (2) is his stiffest opponent according to the market. He's got a freakish winning record of eight from sixteen. Two runs back in Group races have been solid, without having the best of luck on both occasions. Home track advantage and he's on the back-up from the Theo Marks last weekend. Ticks all the right boxes.

THE CANDY MAN (4) is a star. He's now with Snowden's for this preparation at the minimum. Unwanted in betting fresh but his will to win got him across the stripe. 1500m is short of his best but it's hard to knock a trier. Wide alley will give him galloping room to rattle home. JUST THINKIN' (9) wore down Fun Fact to win a BM94 last start. Untapped.

2020 CAMERON HANDICAP – SELECTIONS

1st – 6 Rock

2nd – 2 Special Reward

3rd – 4 The Candy Man

4th – 9 Just Thinkin'

2020 Tibbie Stakes: Tips And Race Preview

Taking a hard fit mare in the Tips and Race Preview for the 2020 Tibbie Stakes, Wandabaa is so consistent and is a $6 chance.

Fast tempo as Electric Girl will kick up to hold the rail off the inside gate while Best Stone pushes forward from the extreme outside draw.

WANDABAA (5) is hard fit and in form. Mona Lisa effort when making a sustained run was terrific. ASIAGO (2) only managed to grab her 50m out. She's come a long way in a few months. Awkward alley but has come from behind to win some good races before. Wide open race but deserves to be favourite. ASIAGO (2) was given no respect by the market first-up but a peach by Rachel King helped her take out the Mona Lisa at Wyong a few weeks ago. Very underrated and her second-up form is just as strong. Threat.

ALL SAINTS' EVE (11) has the X factor. Nobody knows how good she is and the booking of McDonald is a big pointer. Watch the market. YAMAZAKI (8) was a sneaky run last time out. She's a talented mare but is dependent on so much luck coming from the back. Will be an each-way price in the race and there is plenty of worse bets than that.

2020 TIBBIE STAKES – SELECTIONS

1st – 5 Wandabaa

2nd – 2 Asiago

3rd – 11 All Saints' Eve

4th – 8 Yamazaki
