McNeil, Currie, Taylor and Payne after Tuesday trackwork at The Valley

Jockey Jye McNeil is well on the way to getting down to 49.5kg, the weight allotted his Cox Plate mount, three-year-old Grandslam.

McNeil put Grandslam through his paces at The Valley on Tuesday ahead of the running of the 100th Cox Plate on Saturday.

Grandslam, prepared by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, is the only three-year-old in Saturday’s Group 1 weight-for-age championship that carries $5 million in prize money.

Listen to McNeil below.

Luke Currie was concerned before riding Fierce Impact in work at The Valley on Tuesday that the entire can get a bit keen.

But the Matthew Smith-trained galloper settled beautifully for the jockey in a workout ahead of the 100th Group 1 Cox Plate at The Valley on Tuesday.

Currie rides the Japanese-bred import for the first time in Saturday’s $5 million weight-for-age championship.

Kolding failed to deliver on his Sydney form when seen in Melbourne during the autumn, but a strong workout on Tuesday has the Chris Waller excited for his prospects ahead of the 100th running of the Group 1 Cox Plate at The Valley on Saturday.

Listen to Waller’s Melbourne representative Jo Taylor after Kolding worked at The Valley on Tuesday ahead of Saturday’s $ 5 million weight-for-age championship.

After winning The Everest aboard Classique Legend at Randwick last Saturday, Kerrin McEvoy has gone in to lockdown to ride Probabeel in the $5 million Group 1 Cox Plate at The Valley on Saturday.

Unable to ride the star Kiwi mare in work on Tuesday at The Valley, McEvoy called on his brother-in-law Patrick Payne to put Probabeel through her paces.
