Kranji's Sunday meeting preview

Meeting Preview, selections, comments and odds, courtesy Larry Foley,

While the Polytrack is a terrific track and we have seen some good racing over the last few weeks, a return to the turf racing at Kranji will bring a smile to many an enthusiast’s dial.

It is a mixed surface meeting - and there are some good Poly races to punt on - but the Class 1, 1400m turf event (race 12) is an absolute cracker with many a Group winner heading to the start.

In fact, the Gold Cup winner MR CLINT is at the top of the weights and while the Group 1 winner is obviously better over longer, his first up placing over 1200m on the Poly suggests he has a big say in this.

The Stewards’Cup form will also hold up here with SIAM BLUE VANDA and TOP KNIGHT two to watch from that race.

The Mike Clements-trained duo ran one-two respectively in the Group 2 mile and no reason to think the pair won’t be strong late in this race and will be hard to hold out.

The pace will be genuine with YULONG EDITION likely to lead and while up in class, the 5YO gets a handy 3kg claim and he will certainly give a sight.

Elsewhere on the 14-race card, the Vlad Duric/Ricardo Le Grange combination look to have a strong hand in race 9 where WATER ROCKET is hardest to beat, while FIELD MARSHALL has each-way claims in the lucky last.

Best Bets: (WATER ROCKET race 9, win), (MINISTER race 10, win), and (THE MAREEBA MANGO race 4, value).

Bankers for Jackpots: Race 11 (2, 3, 8 and 9), race 12 (7 and 8), race 13 (2, 3, 5, 7, 8 and 10), race 14 (1, 4, 5, 6 and 7).

Race cards and Larry Foley's synopsis follows and for updates on all runners go to

Please note the odds listed are "reference odds" only.

Race 1

A tough opener with most horses some having a say on recent form including one last start winner in EL PRIMERO. The US-bred 4YO won well enough to follow although 2kg extra to carry against a more solid field could test. Not much separates ELITE BEAST, PERFORMANTE and SPORTSCASTER who all placed in similar affairs to this at their respective last starts, with perhaps ELITE BEAST the pick from gate 3 with Marc Lerner retaining the ride. Two maidens in MOWGLI and BOOM ALMIGHTY also appeal at their first runs in Class 5 Company and may be good value options, while WHAT YOU LIKE (late Atlantic Fox) did look due last campaign. Betting Strategy - ELITE BEAST win, saver on MOWGLI.
1 ELITE BEAST *** Only found one better when resuming and hard to pass here in similar affair. 4.00
2 PERFORMANTE *** Looked the winner late when resuming this trip and will be doing best work late again in this. 4.00
3 TINGLE MARC ** Resuming after bleeding attack. Recent trial was good and could surprise with blinkers and tongue-tie added. 20
4 TWILL GUY ** Never got involved when first-up but can make use of gate 4 and play a part in this. 20
5 WISAKA * Resuming. Impossible on form and wide gate will test but drop in Class will help. 100
6 FROM THE NAVY ** Resuming. Maiden who will appreciate first run in Class 5 on the back of some solid trials. Value. 20
7 MOWGLI *** Supported when placing in Maiden Company last start and excuses not to finish closer. Can follow in Class 5. 12
8 STARDICE ** Resuming. Honest and should figure in exotics. 20
9 WHAT YOU LIKE *** Resuming. Late Atlantic Fox. Looked due last campaign and 1200m first up should suit. Keep safe. 12
10 EL PRIMERO *** Has an extra 2kg to carry after winning similar affair last start and has to be respected. 4.00
11 SPORTSCASTER *** In the mix in similar affair last start and Duric retains the ride. Goes close. 12
12 BOOM ALMIGHTY *** Resuming after improved effort to place in Maiden Company last start. Trials like he can have a say at value in Class 5. 12
13 SILVER WAY ** Resuming. Hard to follow but obviously thereabouts on a good day with blinkers back on. 33
14 FIGHT TO VICTORY ** Led before weakening when resuming. Poorly drawn but can be prominent. 33

Race 2

The first turf race since the Covid lockdown and it's a tricky Restricted Maiden with at least five Kranji newcomers all winning hopes on Official Trial form. Three of the newcomers do have race form from Australia and NZ and of those, it may be I AM SACRED who gets the most support. The Australian-bred 3YO placed at both starts in Newcastle (Aus) and a good local trial suggests he can win at his Kranji debut with gate 2 a bonus. ENTERTAINER (Australia) and the Kiwi MR SHOWMAN also have done enough at the local trials to play a part with market best guide. Of the debutantes, COMMODORE gets Duric on the back of a good trial and has to be respected, while SPECIAL OPS and even LAKSANA have done enough to consider. The danger with local race form to his name may be EL MACHO who gets blinkers added after a poor debut so look for improvement at odds. Betting Strategy - I AM SACRED win, saver on EL MACHO.
1 I AM SACRED *** Raced Maiden from Australia. Placed at both starts in Newcastle. Recent trial suggests he can win at Kranji debut. 3.00
2 ENTERTAINER *** Placed in Queensland (Gold Coast) before arrival. Showed enough at one trials to think he has something to offer. Watch market. 8.00
3 MR SHOWMAN *** Kiwi Maiden who placed at both career starts. Drawn the car park but easily won his most recent trial so worth thought. 6.00
4 AGAINST GRAVITY * Australian-bred 3YO who did not show up at the trials. Later. 33
5 COMMODORE *** NZ-bred 3YO who has trialled well enough locally to win on debut with support likely. 5.00
6 EL MACHO *** Resuming after a poor debut but did have support and gets blinkers so look for improvement. 20
7 GOLD SPIRIT ** Resuming after two solid runs and has trialled OK since. Exotics. 20
8 KINABALU WARRIOR ** Super disappointing last start with support but blinkers off back on the turf could see his best. 20
9 LAKSANA ** Australian-bred 3YO who has trialled solidly and can include in exotics at value. 20
10 PASIR PINJI ** Battled away on debut but did it tough so appreciates the run an better gate. Improves. 20
11 SPECIAL OPS *** NZ-bred 3YO who makes his debut after a good hit out when winning his Official Trial and could make his presence felt with positive ride. 10
12 SPEEDY MISSILE * Australian-bred 3YO who has been solid at the trials but gate could test on debut. 33
13 SUN ROYALE * Australian-bred 3YO who needs to show more than he did at the trials. 33
14 SHINE ALMIGHTY * Gets a tongue-tie added after poor first up run and prefer to just watch. 50
15 GALLANT BLACK * Resuming. Disappointing on debut but should improve for the run. 50
16 TOP OF THE LINE ** Resuming after improved run when also first up. Gets blinkers but gate a worry. 12

Race 3

This Class 4 sprint doesn't look overly strong so a last start winner in STAR EMPIRE looks as good as any place to start. The 5YO is versatile, gets Vlad Duric and showed last start why he is always a winning show in Class 4. A blanket over HERO STAR, STREET PARTY, CROWN GIFT, QUADCOPTER and even SACRED DON, who all placed at their respective last starts with perhaps QUADCOPTER the pick at his first start on the Poly and HERO STAR with the light weight from gate 3. The interesting runner is PROOF PERFECT who was eye-catching late at his Singapore debut and gets blinkers added to his gear; keep safe. Betting Strategy - STAR EMPIRE win, watch on PROOF PERFECT.
1 PROOF PERFECT *** Good work late on debut after being unsighted early suggests more to offer and gets blinkers added. Watch market. 7.00
2 SACRED DON ** Resuming. Gate will test (again) but always some show in races like this. 12
3 QUADCOPTER *** Resuming. Having first start on the Poly but always trials like he handles the surface and can win a race like this. 6.00
4 ZERO TO HERO * Resuming. Late Star Knight. First-up after two disappointing runs in this Company and have to ignore. 50
5 STAR EMPIRE *** Resuming after winning similar fair last start when dropping to Class 4. Can win again with Duric up from gate 1. 4.00
6 CROWN GIFT *** Drawn awkwardly but in the winning mix last start in similar affair and should figure. 5.00
7 BARBEQUE ** Resuming. Form reads badly but has been trialling well enough to consider at odds. 33
8 HELUSHKA ** Resuming. Should need longer but will be strong late if race run to suit. 20
9 BRACED * Resuming. Needs longer. 50
10 DIAMOND RING ** Resuming. Has speed but weakened last start over 1100m. Can figure. 12
11 HERO STAR *** Resuming after placing in a similar affair last start. Was in form so follow. 8.00
12 STREET PARTY *** Resuming. Honest and given good work out at recent trial. Each-way. 8.00
13 LONGHU ** Resuming. Battles away and always worth a look in exotics at value. 20
14 SUN MONARCH * Resuming. Recent trial OK but race form poor. 50

Race 4

Another tricky Restricted Maiden with numerous first starters looking likely types and a couple of the raced brigade that look like winning sooner than later. Of those we have seen, MACEO just missed as the odds-on elect at his race debut and he should run a very forward race with a positive Duric ride from gate 13. GNOTHI SEAUTON has also drawn awkwardly but he ran on super on debut and will figure if closer in running. IN ALL HIS GLORY with blinkers added and the emergency - ALL WE KNOW - both have the form to win this and pick themselves. A raced newcomer from Australia in THE MAREEBA MANGO has drawn the widest but looks a nice type who has trialled well enough to win. SAVVY COMMAND and HARD TOO THINK two debutantes who have looked good enough at the trials to have a say with market a good guide. Betting Strategy - THE MAREEBA MANGO each-way.
1 THE MAREEBA MANGO *** Former Australian with one placing from two starts. Draw a concern but trials very well locally suggesting he can win at Kranji debut. 12
2 GLOBAL SPIRIT * Kiwi Maiden who failed to place at two starts before arrival. Showed nothing at trials. 100
3 IN ALL HIS GLORY *** Resuming after placing at three career starts. Gets blinkers and wins soon. 5.00
4 ALFARES * Former Malaysian. Easier to ignore on trial form but market a good guide. 50
5 CARAKA * Australian-bred 3YO who hasn't shown up at trials. 100
6 EASYLIGHTS ** NZ-bred 3YO who has looked solid at the trials but gate will test. 33
7 GNOTHI SEAUTON *** Resuming. Impressed when running on strongly on debut. Can win with positive ride. 3.00
8 HARD TOO THINK *** Australian-bred 3YO who has done more than enough at the trials to think he has a big say on debut. 6.00
9 MACEO *** Just pipped as the odds-on elect on debut and can make quick amends with Duric to ride. 4.00
10 RIVER ROCA * Gets tongue-tie and should improve with racing but like to see more. 50
11 SAINT KNIGHT * Resuming after a poor debut in a weak field. No. 50
12 SAVVY COMMAND *** NZ-bred 3YO who has looked to be doing it easy at his local trials and have to respect with market a good guide. 12
13 SUN DECREE * Australian-bred 3YO who needs to show more than he has at the trials. 50
14 ZYGARDE ** Resuming after a shocker but debut - albeit on the Poly - was good and gets blinkers. Keep safe. 20
15 ALL WE KNOW *** Resuming after long break. Has run on well at three career starts and pay to follow. 8.00
16 SHOWBOUND ** Shown glimpses, appreciates gate 1 and forward run expected. 20

Race 5

Plenty of winning hopes in this Class 4 turf mile and enough swoopers to think it will be a busy finish. The horses in question that will have a say late include the equal top weights in GOLAZO and SOLO SUN and both stayers look suited over the mile first-up and can win if the race is run to suit. Two horses that were in form over the mile prior to the Covid break in SO HI CLASS and LEATHERHEAD should also figure heavily in this finish. Not much separates the pair on race and recent trial form and it may be a case of who takes your fancy on the day or whoever offers the better value. MATSURIBAYASHI, GOD'S GIFT, CENTURION and PISCA PISCA just four more that should be thereabouts at the business end to keep the commentator on his toes. Betting Strategy - SO HI CLASS win.
1 GOLAZO *** Resuming. Stayer who will find the mile in Class 4 to his liking with best work expected late. 8.00
2 SOLO SUN *** Resuming. Another stayer who look suited and will make his presence felt late. 8.00
3 SO HI CLASS *** Resuming. Was in form before break and recent trials have been good. Can win. 4.00
4 MATSURIBAYASHI *** Resuming after placing last start this trip on the Poly. Most recent win was on turf over the mile. Keep safe. 12
5 BILLY BRITAIN ** Never involved when resuming but appreciates the run and step up to a more suitable trip. Improves. 33
6 TOUCH THE CLOUDS * Resuming. Battled away on occasion but like to see more. 33
7 GOD'S GIFT *** Resuming. Broke maiden over this trip two back and made up good ground last start. Gate 2 helps so can follow. 8.00
8 LEATHERHEAD *** Resuming after a good run of form and recent trials suggests he is ready to win sans blinkers. 3.00
9 TIGER FORCE * Resuming. In form but does look a better winning option on the Poly. 20
10 CENTURION *** Resuming. Honest as a rule, race suits and a recent trial was good. Each-way. 16
11 PING PONG * Resuming. Trip suits but may need easier. 33
12 AUSPICIOUS DAY ** Resuming. Form OK and may add value to exotics. 20
13 YULONG XIONG HU * Hard to have. 100
14 PISCA PISCA *** Resuming after a very good run of form without winning in this Company. Keep safe. 12

Race 6

Not much depth to this maiden and while ST ALWYN has had his chances and has drawn the widest alley, he is due, has Duric and is the obvious choice on paper. Of the others with local race form to go on, SMOKE AND MIRRORS is honest and is trialling well enough to have a say, while QUICK SHOSHA made up enough ground late at his Singapore debut to think he has more to offer. There are two newcomers from Australia to consider and while SHOWCASE THE GOLD would need support on what he has shown at his local trials, LUCKY IMPERATOR has impressed at the trials since arriving and looks the danger to ST ALWYN. Nothing else jumps off the page but the market will be a good guide on the likes of KHAN and WONOSOBO to name just two. Betting Strategy - ST ALWYN win.
1 KHAN ** Resuming. Former Argentinean who flopped at Singapore debut but trial form good enough to give another chance. 12
2 QUICK SHOSHA *** Never a threat at Singapore debut but work late suggests more to offer and can consider. 12
3 SHOWCASE THE GOLD ** Former Australian who placed two from five before arrival but would like to see support on local trial form. 12
4 LUCKY IMPERATOR *** Former Australian who placed three from 11 before arrival but local trials have been good enough to consider here. 4.00
5 ST ALWYN *** Resuming. In form before break, switch to turf helps and can overcome wide gate and win. 3.00
6 SMOKE AND MIRRORS *** Resuming with some good trails under his belt. Can consider on solid form last prep. 12
7 LIM'S UNIQUE ** Usually runs on and will keep a few honest to the wire. Exotics. 12
8 WONOSOBO ** Resuming after an improved run when blinkers went on. Keep safe. 12
9 RIVER RUBY * Just a battler. 50
10 CLARTON SUPREME ** Resuming after a tough run last start. Can consider on placing prior with gate 4 a bonus. 12
11 ARAMAYA * Resuming. Showed nothing on debut and have to take on trust with blinkers added. 50
12 BEAUTY SEVEN SEVEN * Resuming. Won a recent trial but race form terrible. Watch market with winkers off. 33
13 HIGH VOLTAGE ** Resuming after two poor runs but turf may suit on the back of a couple of solid trials. 33
14 NINETYSIX WARRIOR * Resuming and has had lameness issues. Shown enough at races to watch market. 33
15 UNSTOPPABLE GIANT ** Resuming after two disappointing runs but trials OK, gate 1 helps and could improve sans blinkers. 20
16 LION SPIRIT * Battler. 100

Race 7

Some handy types in this Class 3 1400m event and while there are some progressive types worth following through the grades, a few horses that had a crack at the Stewards' Cup back in March should figure here. ON LINE finished fourth in the Stewards' Cup and connections would have been eyeing off a big run in the Derby. But Covid-19 put a stop to that (for now) and ON LINE will be looking at a big run here to get his new campaign off to a flyer. PAX ANAMI had excuses in that same race not to finish a tad closer and while he was never really a place hope in running, his form prior was good and he can win a race like this. VITTORIA PERFETTA and AXEL also came through the Stewards' Cup but both are yet to win above Class 4 Company. Of the others with serious winning hopes, LOYALTY MAN very much appreciates this Company and must be respected, while STRONG N POWERFUL is in cracking form and could start favourite on the back of a strong trial. Betting Strategy - ON LINE win.
1 LOYALTY MAN *** Resuming in what is a very suitable grade. Gets upgrade to blinkers and will figure heavily in this finish. 6.00
2 ON LINE *** Resuming. Very progressive type who would have been eyeing off the Derby pre-covid. This look suitable on the back of some nice trials. 6.00
3 SUPER DYNASTY * Resuming. OK last start but this race looks a big ask. 50
4 MAT SMART ** Former Malaysian who won three from four but faces a tough assignment at Kranji debut. Market best guide. 20
5 TIME LORD ** Resuming. Won over 1800m last start and that may be his winning caper in this company. 20
6 GLASGOW ** Resuming after disappointing run but should be better than that with headgear removed. 20
7 PAX ANIMI *** Resuming after excuses not to finish closer in the Stewards' Cup. Grade suits, trialling well and can win. 4.00
8 STRONG N POWERFUL *** Resuming after winning in this Company last start. Has some upside and can win again off the back of a strong trial. 4.00
9 AXEL ** Resuming after ambitious crack at the Stewards' Cup. 1400m in this company should see a competitive effort. 20
10 STAR JACK * Resuming with upgrade to blinkers but needs longer. 50
11 VITTORIA PERFETTA *** Resuming. Yet to win beyond Class 4 but has been close. Gets his chance sans visor. 12
12 DIAMOND BEAUTY ** Resuming. Another yet to win above Class 4 Company but trip is ideal. Value. 20
13 OCEAN CROSSING * Resuming after Class 4 win. Honest enough but this company could test. 20
14 BUDDY BUDDY * Resuming. Goes OK but like to see over longer. 33
15 RED DAWN * Resuming. Prefer in Class 4. 33

Race 8

Not a lot of depth in this Class 5. AMAZING CHOICE was runner-up in a similar race when resuming and with fitness on his side will be hard to hold off with CK Ng retaining the mount and claiming 3kg. SUN ELIZABETH also put in a solid effort when resuming and is better drawn this time with a senior rider replacing the claiming apprentice. RED ROAR has been a Maiden for a while but trialled well, has speed and was only run down late last start over this trip. The emergency FREE FALLIN' placed when resuming, is a lightly raced 4YO with some upside, is well drawn and from a good gate will be hard to beat if he gets a run. The second emergency HIGH LIMIT is also capable in this class. Betting Strategy - AMAZING GRACE, saver on FREE FALLIN' if he gets a start.
1 AMAZING CHOICE *** Ran on when resuming. Would prefer longer but suited this class and will be hard to hold out. 2.00
2 SUN ELIZABETH *** Battled away solidly when resuming. Better gate and senior rider help. Should be in the finish.. 3.00
3 NOVA FACTOR * Resuming with blinkers and tongue-tie. Yet to win in ten starts and recent form moderate. 20
4 RED ROAR *** Resuming. Trialled soundly. 15 start Maiden but has speed and run down late last start - in albeit a weak field. Can give a sight. 4.00
5 RETALLICA * Resuming after solid trial but yet to place in eight starts and poorly drawn. 33
6 BROTHER MAK MAK * Resuming sans tongue-tie. Late Keep Winning. Only win over 1800m and battling at recent outings. Battled at recent outings though 4kg claim may help. Only win was 73 weeks ago. 50
7 STELLA POLARE * Resuming. Needs to improve on recent efforts. 50
8 DONTLOOKDOWNONME * Resuming. Battling at recent outings. 50
9 CROWN DELIGHT * Resuming. Recent efforts poor but trial was solid. Gate tests and needs longer. 50
10 KING OF GLORY * Resuming. Form poor and gate tests. 50
11 MY MIRACLE * Weakened out of it when resuming. Tongue-tie helps but not gate. 50
12 RICH FORTUNE * Resuming with blinkers and tongue-tie. Trialled solidly but form poor and gate no help. 50
13 FREE FALLIN' *** Ran on solidly to place when resuming and has some upside. Well-drawn and should be in finish if gets a start. 3.00
14 HIGH LIMIT *** Only battled when resuming but suited this class and distance and capable of improvement. 5.00

Race 9

Another race where the depth falls away quite quickly. WATER ROCKET has won three of his past four outings the most recent this class and distance; he resumes after a very good trial, gets Vlad Duric and the 2.5kg weight rise might not be enough to stop him. The competition is likely to come from the consistent MY BIG BOSS who ran on solidly to be runner-up in this company when resuming; trained by Lee Freedman, another honest effort is expected. SUPER SMART resumes after disappointing on turf last start but he is better suited on the poly; he is poorly drawn but trialled well and has the speed to overcome the outside gate. EXDREAM is a newcomer with solid midweek Queensland form, his recent trial and claim for Hakim make him a market watch. THE WILD BUNCH has drawn badly but has speed and can be included in exotics. Betting Strategy - strong win WATER ROCKET.
1 EXDREAM *** Won three of 11 in good provincial company Queensland before arrival, twice at this trip. Trialled solidly and should be running on. 12
2 WATER ROCKET *** Resuming. Won this class and distance last start. Rises 2.5kg but trialled well and has Vlad Duric. Hard to beat again. 2.20
3 SUPER SMART *** Resuming. Disappointed on turf last start but better on poly. Trialled well and has speed to overcome gate. 6.00
4 ELITE WATERGHOST ** Only battled at first Singapore outing. Will strip fitter and extra distance should suit. Can improve. 12
5 MY BIG BOSS *** Ran on solidly to place in similar event when resuming. Rarely runs poorly and will be in the finish. 5.00
6 THE WILD BUNCH ** Resuming after pulling up lame last start. Drawn wide but has trialled well, has speed and can sprint well fresh. 12
7 DIAMOND RUSH * Resuming. Trialled well but has disappointed at both outings since arrival. 33
8 ROBIN HOOD * Resuming and trialled well but better over longer. 33
9 NORTHERN SUN * Only battled when resuming. Will strip fitter but needs to improve. 33
10 LIM'S TORPEDO ** Copped a check but never likely when resuming. Won Maiden over this trip at start prior with this rider. Could improve 33
11 ALLEGRO * Resuming. Won last start in Class 5 over 1600m. May need longer. 33
12 BROADWAY SUCCESS * Resuming. Has struggled since Class 5 win five starts back. 50
13 BIG DAY * Resuming. Rockhampton Maiden winner yet to beat a runner home in two Singapore outings. 100
14 WINNING HOBBY * Resuming. Has speed and placed over 1100m three starts back. Gate tests. 25

Race 10

An intriguing Class 3 with several horses of promise involved against some seasoned competitors. The most interesting runner is the Lee Freedman-trained MINISTER who led and won a 1600m Class 3 on the poly at his second Singapore outing; he won a Listed race over a mile and placed at Group III level over this trip before arrival; f he can repeat that from a good gate on turf over 1400m, he will be hard to run down. BEAU GESTE ran on well over 1200m on poly when resuming; he is fitter now, has proven his credentials on turf and with Vlad Duric to ride should be hard to hold off. BIG HEARTED is a promising young horse having won four of seven; this is harder but he trialled well and with 54.5kg should be threatening late. DESTROYER ECLIPSE looks suited first up this trip in this Company, while PER INPOWER and ADIPSON are two to keep safe in exotics. Betting Strategy - MINISTER win.
1 DESTROYER ECLIPSE *** Resuming in what looks a suitable race first-up. Will figure. 6.00
2 TESORO PRIVADO * Resuming. Placed in Class 2 over this trip three starts back. Trialled well but hasn't won for a long time. 25
3 MINISTER *** Resuming. Won on poly in this class over 1600m at second Singapore outing. Trialled well and has a touch of class. Should be prominent from the good gate. 3.00
4 HELIOSPHERE * Resuming. Was only battling last preparation but capable on his day running fourth in Group III Silver Bowl four starts back. Watch market. 20
5 PER INPOWER ** Resuming. Drops in grade and last win was a Class 2 over this trip. Gets back but will be closing late. 12
6 BEAU GESTE *** Ran on well over 1200m on poly when resuming. Fitter now and should be hard to hold off. 5.00
7 AUGUSTUS ** Resuming. May need longer to win but should figure late. 33
8 KING'S SPEECH * Resuming. Best efforts are over longer and may need the run. 50
9 RICHEBOURG ** Resuming. Battled on poly last start but just missed this class and distance at start prior. Will get back and run on. 16
10 ADIPSON ** Resuming. Found Group II to much last start but ran on to place in this company at previous start. Trialled well and will be closing late. 12
11 BIG HEARTED *** Resuming and trialled well. Up in class but promising type winning four of seven. Well-drawn and will be closing late. 8.00
12 WIND TRAIL * Resuming and trialled well. Had solid form last prep but over longer. 33
13 HARDCORE ** Resuming. Not far away in three starts in this grade following Class 4 win. Has found a strong race but honest enough to follow. 25
14 IMPLEMENT ** Resuming after narrowly winning in Class 4 over 1600m last start. Will find this harder but honest. 33

Race 11

It pays to beware the class-droppers in these 1000m Class 5's. UNCLE LUCKY returns to his happy hunting ground where he led throughout over this trip three starts back; with Joseph See back from gate one, he is the one they have to run down. GOOD LUCK CHARM also drops in class but gets a tongue-tie and is the improver. Of the rest, ELITE SAINT won comfortably this class and distance last start; he trialled well, carries the same weight and with the same rider from a good gate should be prominent. A strong speed will suit MISTER DYNAMO who is still a Maiden but has placed at his past three outings; Vlad Duric stays on and he should be closing late. Include last start winner ASIA SPIRIT in exotics. Betting Strategy - UNCLE LUCKY win, saver on GOOD LUCK CHARM.
1 ASIA SPIRIT ** Resuming. Won over this trip last start. Rises 4.5kg but has speed and will be hard to pass. 8.00
2 GOOD LUCK CHARM *** Battled when resuming but drop in grade and tongue-tie should help. Can win. 8.00
3 UNCLE LUCKY *** Won this class and distance three starts back and then failed twice in Class 4. Fitter for recent outing and will find this more suitable and from gate will be hard to pass. 3.00
4 WINNER NUMBER ONE * Resuming. Struggled after Class 5 win over this trip three starts back and blinkers come off. Can run on. 16
5 COLONIEL STAR * Resuming. Has shown little in three starts but may appreciate Class 5 Company. 50
6 COMING UP ** Resuming. Has yet to show up in four outings but recent trial was good enough to think he improves in Class 5. Keep safe. 25
7 SUPERSONICSURPRISE ** Veteran that did little when resuming but is better drawn and should improve with blinkers downgraded to winkers. 16
8 ELITE SAINT *** Resuming. Won comfortably this class and distance last start. Trialled well, carries same weight and from good gate should be prominent. 4.00
9 MISTER DYNAMO *** Still a Maiden but has placed at past three outings. Duric stays on and should be closing late. 5.00
10 LADY STUNING * Resuming. Late Yakety Yak. Yet to place in six outings. 33
11 EVIL ROADSTER * Resuming. Improved last start and tongue-tie may help. Poorly drawn. 33
12 HELLO MICHELLE * Resuming snap tongue-tie and visor. Trip suits but hasn't won for three years. 50
13 RAPID FIRE ** Battled only when resuming but usually thereabouts in this type of race. 25
14 TRY MAK MAK ** Faded when resuming and gate no help here but can consider on form prior. 50

Race 12

The first serious turf race since resuming with a number of Singapore's best horses taking part. The lack of speed may be a concern to many but one that can go forward is YULONG EDITION and, whilst he is yet to win at less than 1600m, Hakim can take advantage of the claim and be hard to run down. If the tempo is strong, SIAM BLUE VANDA will be the one they have to hold off. The now 5YO has won over the trip four times, has trialled well and draws to do no work. TOP KNIGHT was finding it hard to win last preparation but has a good record at the trip and would benefit from a positive ride. The best horse in the race is MR CLINT who resumed with a cracking run on the poly; he will relish the turf and if the tempo is suitable will be putting in the big ones late. Plenty of others with some hope on best form. Betting Strategy - SIAM BLUE VANDA, TOP KNIGHT forecast.
1 MR CLINT *** Put in a cracking effort when resuming on poly, Will relish the turf and be charging late. 6.00

Race 13

A solid Class 4 and looking for those with upside, MR ALEJANDRO fits the bill. Trained by Lee Freedman, he has won two of his eight starts the most recent being this class and distance; his recent trial was good and with Simon Kok to ride he carries no more than last start. GLOBAL KID is a class dropper who has trialled well, has won at this trip and will run on for Vlad Duric. MERYL is lightly raced having won one and placed at three of eight starts - the most recent being a placing over this trip; she has shown speed and from the good gate can give a sight. MADE IN RUSSIA is an honest fellow in this grade but doesn't win out of turn. IRON RULER was in form over longer last campaign, 1400m suits fresh and may be value. SHEPHERD'S HYMN has drawn wide but his Maiden win was good enough to follow. Betting Strategy - MR ALEJANDRO win.
1 BOY NEXT DOOR ** Resuming after bleeding attack. Last win was over longer. Watch market. 33
2 MADE IN RUSSIA *** Resuming. Trialled well. Consistent without winning last campaign but this trip look this caper. Will figure from gate 1. 8.00
3 GLOBAL KID *** Resuming. Trialled well and drops in class. Has won at this trip and will run on for Duric. 5.00
4 MO ALMIGHTY ** Resuming after long break. Trialled solidly but form only moderate last campaign. Watch market. 20
5 MR ALEJANDRO *** Resuming. Trialled well. Won this class and distance last start. Claim helps and will get a good run throughout. Hard to beat. 2.50
6 MAGNIFICENT GOLD ** Resuming. Battles away but doesn't win out of turn. Gate no help. 16
7 SHEPHERD'S HYMN *** Resuming after good Maiden win over 1600m. Will find this harder and gate no help but looks to have some ability. 20
8 MERYL *** Resuming. Placed last start over this trip. Lightly raced and can improve from good gate. 6.00
9 COMING FAST ** Resuming after narrow Maiden win where he had plenty of support. Keep safe. 25
10 IRON RULER *** Resuming. Was showing promise over longer last campaign and has trialled well. Can follow. 16

15 BREATHE FIRE * Won Maiden at this trip in NZ but did nothing at first Singapore outing on poly. Needs to improve. 100
16 DON DE LA VEGA * Resuming. Last start winner over 1800m. Might need longer. 33

Race 14

A moderate Class 4 where many haven't won for a long time. FIELD MARSHAL is an exception having won three of seven - all at this trip - since arriving in Singapore; he is poorly drawn but trialled well and with Vlad Duric to ride could be hard to hold out. HADEER won over 1600m on the synthetic at Pakenham before arrival and ran on solidly over 1000m at his first Singapore start; the step up to 1200m and a tongue-tie help and he could threaten. BASILISK resumes after winning one of these last start, he rises 3.5kg but is well drawn and should be running on. CHALAZA hasn't won for a while but ran on without threatening when resuming; he will strip fitter and can get in the finish. Watch market on the class dropper STUNNING CAT who hasn't won for over a year but has four successes at the trip. Include OVERCOMING in exotics. Betting Strategy - FIELD MARSHAL each-way.

5 HADEER *** Won over 1600m on synthetic before arrival and ran on solidly over 1000m at first Singapore start. Extra distance and tongue-tie help. 5.00
6 BASILISK *** Resuming. Won one of these last start. Rises 3.5kg but well drawn and should be running on. 5.00

14 BLACK QUAIL ** Resuming. Followed Class 5 win with two solid efforts in this grade. Has speed and should be prominent. 20
