The Hakim show continued unabated last Saturday when the “Kelantan Kid” added another four winners to his 2021 total.
This run of success has him in rare air and with Duric on sick leave and Maia settling in to Hong Kong, the apprentice is THE jockey to follow and no reason to jump off the Hakim bandwagon Saturday.
He can open his account in race 1 with WINNING LEGEND well placed to win, but his best ride of the night may just be a maiden - OUR SECRET WEAPON - having his first start in Class 5 (race 8).
The 3YO has been disappointing since placing on debut on the Poly behind the smart TUESDAY, but given he had a crack at the Golden Horseshoe and now finds himself in the weakest of races, he should really win and continue the Hakim golden run.
Most of his other mounts look solid each-way hopes but you wouldn’t back against Hakim getting at least two of them home.
Elsewhere on the card, a relatively “new” jockey in the Singapore racing ranks in Danny Beasley could also be a hoop to follow.
The popular Australian hung up the saddle some four year back but remained in Singapore working for the Dan Meagher stable.
But in Beasley’s own words - “the spark never quite went out”- and the affable Aussie can return a winner with perhaps LIM’S ZOOM his best chance in the lucky last.
Now, when will Saimee be back?
Best Bets: (LIM’S BESTBREAKER race 5, win), (SENOR DON race 9, win), and (MIGHTY EMPEROR race 4, value).
Bankers for Jackpots: Race 7 (1, 2, 7, 8 and 13), race 8 (7), race 9 (1, 2, 12 and 13), race 10 (1 and 5).

Selections; 5 WINNING LEGEND - 2 FAST AND FEARLESS - 1 CATCH THE TIGER - 3 GOLDEN DASH
Plenty of winning hopes in the opener with three Class droppers that improve and go close and any few others with their foot on the till in similar affairs. Of the Class droppers, FAST AND FEARLESS looks the best hope with a handy Iskandar 3kg claim and GOLDEN DASH will also grow a leg down in grade and gate 1 helps his cause. OLD MATE BUZZER comes into this with four duck eggs in the form book but given he has won at both starts in Class 5, he has to be respected but the 1200m could test late. Of those due, WINNING LEGEND showed last start why the Poly is his caper and a 3kg claim for the red-hot Hakim could be the winning move. CATCH THE TIGER is back in trip but is also due and a forward run is expected, while most others can be included in exotics on best form. Betting Strategy - WINNING LEGEND win.
1 CATCH THE TIGER *** Back in trip but versatile enough to run a very forward race and be in the winning mix. 5.00
2 FAST AND FEARLESS *** Drops in Class and looked to have some in hand last start so can win with handy 3kg claim. 5.00
3 GOLDEN DASH *** Another Class dropper who come into winning calculation on best Poly form with gate 1 a bonus. 5.00
4 OL MATE BUZZER *** Looks out of form and 1200m can test but is two-from-two in Class 5 so have to respect. 8.00
5 WINNING LEGEND *** Showed last start why the Poly is his caper and wins sooner than later with Hakim a factor. 4.00
6 RED CLAW ** Only battled last start but was due prior and usually each-way odds. 12
7 I'M A CONQUEROR ** Drawn wide and looks hopeless on form but better suited over 1200m and could surprise with a positive ride, 25
8 STAR SHIELD ** Yet to win in Singapore and should need longer but gets blinkers and will figure in this Company. 20
9 FIGHT TO VICTORY ** Found wanting late last start but will give a sight. 20
10 PERFORMANTE ** Yet to win in Singapore but usually thereabouts so can include in exotics. 20
11 AMAZING CHOICE * Race suits but lost form. 50
12 ATLANTEAN ** Form reads badly but recent trials suggests improvement at odds. 33
13 MIRACLE FAST * No. 100
14 FLYING YELLOW * Freshened after a poor run of form and prefer others. 50
Selections; 2 IMA - 6 BEN WADE - 1 CRANIUM - 12 WIND OF DUBAI
The big question in this race is how short IMA starts in the betting? I'm thinking no one will tip or bet against him in this moderate maiden field and while we will try to make a case for a couple of the others, he should be very hard to beat and should look the winner a long way out on what we saw at his Singapore debut. Who beats him? BEN WADE was supported but very disappointing on debut but gets a tongue-tie and is worth another look on trial form, while WIND OF DUABI, MARINE VANGUARD and MORE THAN OIL all come off last start placings so have to be considered. The interesting runner is CRANIUM who makes his long-awaited Singapore debut and while he is a 7YO maiden, his recent local trial was good enough to include somewhere in this field with the market best guide. Betting Strategy - IMA strong win.
1 CRANIUM ** 7YO Australian maiden who hasn't raced for over three years but a recent trial or two good enough to consider in this field. 12
2 IMA *** Just missed at Singapore debut with gap to third and hard to beat here. 1.80
3 CRU BOURGEOIS ** Form reads badly and query on the Poly but has shown glimpses so market best guide in this weak field. 20
4 GLOBAL SPIRIT ** Not a mile away two back on the Poly and worth thought on that effort with a visor added for this. 20
5 MORE THAN OIL ** Has speed so can make use of the good gate and in this for a long way. 8.00
6 BEN WADE ** Flopped on debut with support but gets a tongue-tie so worth another look on trial form. 12
7 VALOR EXCELUS * Showed nothing on debut. 50
8 LUCKY JINSHA ** Improved effort last start and has trialled well enough since to consider. 12
9 MARINE VANGUARD ** Drawn wide but best runs have been on the Poly and should be competitive. 12
10 KANTHAKA * Recent trial solid but didn't need the widest gate. 50
11 SUPERMAN * Needs to show more. 50
12 WIND OF DUBAI ** Improved effort with blinkers added last start and worth another look with no weight. 8.00
13 OUD WOOD * No 100
14 DRAGON RYKER * No. 100
Selections; 6 STARLIGHT - 3 THE MARKSMAN - 1 KHARISMA - 12 TRIPLE BOWL
We all love undefeated horses and STARLIGHT looks like he can make it three-from-three in this Class 4 Poly sprint. The 3YO looks well weighted with 56kg and while drawn wide, his two wins have been impressive and expect a short but hopefully sweet price. But he will need to be as good as we think he is as this race has depth and THE MARKSMAN (late Gentlemen Exellent) has shown more than enough at two starts in Singapore to win a race like this and KHARISMA is in form, gets a handy 3kg claim and should figure. Throw TRIPLE BOWL, SUPER SMART and WEALTH ELITE into the winning mix and FIREWORKS might be up in Class, but he is in winning form and could show up with Hakim on-board. The first emergency - TANGIBLE - arrives via Hong Kong and his local trials good enough to keep safe with the market best guide. Betting Strategy - STARLIGHT strong win.
1 KHARISMA *** In form, gets a smart 3kg claim and can win with any luck in running. 8.00
2 INHERIT ** Drawn wide and only battled when dropping in Class last start but Poly suits so look for improvement. 33
3 THE MARKSMAN *** Late Gentlemen Exellent. In the mix at two Poly starts in Singapore and can win this. 6.00
4 SUPER SMART *** Drawn a tad sticky but won at his last Poly run and have to respect. 812
5 ZERO TO HERO * Resuming sans blinkers after a bleeding attack and take on trust. 50
6 STARLIGHT *** Drawn wide but very smart and can win again in Class 4. 2.00
7 THE WILD BUNCH * Jockey suggested issues last start but needs to improve and may need longer. 33
8 STAR EMPIRE ** Nothing last start but will appreciate the Poly and could surprise at long odds sans blinkers. 33
9 WEALTH ELITE *** In form, will be working home strongly and always some hope. 12
10 PER INCROWN ** Recent win in Class 5 but gets blinkers added on the back of a good trial so keep safe. 20
11 FIREWORKS *** Up in Class but hard to fault honest and recent winning form and gate 2 helps. 10
12 TRIPLE BOWL *** Backing up sans blinkers after being in the mix last Saturday. Goes close. 6.00
13 TANGIBLE *** Former Hong Kong 6YO bred in South Africa who has trialled well enough locally to keep safe with market best guide. 12
14 PROOF PERFECT ** Solid without being a threat last start but worth thought on form prior from gate 1. 20
Selections; 3 TIGER LEAP - 1 MIGHTY EMPEROR - 4 HWASONG - 8 TSURIAN
A Class 5 raffle over 1800m and while there are a few horses in honest enough form to follow with some confidence, it may be a veteran down in Class that is hardest to beat. The horse in question is MIGHTY EMPEROR and while his recent form is patchy at best, his Poly form is better than Class 5 and he should be value. Conversely a maiden in TIGER LEAP having his first start on the Poly can also win. The 4YO is due to win, gets John Powell from gate 3 and his early trials suggests the Poly will be no issue whatsoever. Most others pick themselves on Class 5 Poly form with last start winner - TSURIAN - a big show to win again, while HWASONG and BLITZ POWER will be strong late and must be respected. Go wider in exotics in what is an open race. Betting Strategy - MIGHTY EMPEROR each-way.
1 MIGHTY EMPEROR *** Extremely disappointing last start but significant drop in Class and wins on best Poly form. 6.00
2 CENTURION ** Only battled when dropping to Class 5 last start on turf. Take on trust. 12
3 TIGER LEAP *** Maiden who is due and can easily show up at first start on the Poly given trial form on that surface. 3.00
4 HWASONG *** Got back from wide gate last start and ran on super to be in the mix late. Can win this with more positive ride from gate 6. 8.00
5 SUN PITTSBURGH ** Won at odds over 1700m last start and gets the ace but looks a risk on form prior. 12
6 BLITZ POWER *** Gets back and runs on strongly and can figure with blinkers to winkers. 8.00
7 BALOR ** Maiden who has shown glimpses but will need luck from gate 13. 33
8 TSURIAN *** Doesn't win out of turn but got the chocolates last start and pay to follow. 5.00
9 SUN CONQUEROR ** Did it tough last start and honest as a rule so can consider with Hakim up. 12
10 LADY STUNING ** Draw a concern but has ran on well at two Poly runs since maiden turf win and will add value to exotics. 33
11 OFFICIAL * Won three back in a very weak race and would need support before considering. 50
12 VESONTIO * Hard to catch but easier to ignore. 50
13 PISCA PISCA * Blinkers on but lost form. 100
14 APOLLO ROCK * Blinkers off but lost form. 100
Selections; 1 LIM'S BESTBREAKER - 5 METAL WORLD - 9 GOLD KINGDOM - 13 ASAAD
Plenty of winning hopes in this race but connections of LIM'S BESTBREAKER would be very much looking forward to seeing him get over the mile and he can win. The 4YO loves the Poly and gets to jump from a good gate and given his work late after excuses last start over 1200m on the turf, he may be hard to hold out. A last start winner in METAL WORLD is also worth serious thought as he has a Poly win to his name and gate 1 suggests Simon Kok gives him every chance. The red-hot Hakim jumps on another last start winner in GOLD KINGDOM and while he is up in Class, he won easy, has handled this grade previously and may even be value. SHEPARD'S HYMN didn't see out the 1800m last start so the Poly mile looks ideal with Beuzelin up, while MERYL appreciates a solid first up run and can win on the back of a good trial. Both emergencies - ASAAD and AXEL - win without surprising. Betting Strategy - LIM'S BESTBREAKER win.
1 LIM'S BESTBREAKER *** Excuses last start and worked home very well late. Loves the Poly, mile should suit and hard to beat. 4.00
2 SHEPHERD'S HYMN *** Trip query last start and went close last start this trip and track. Goes close. 3.00
3 MERYL *** Drawn wide and rarely seen on the Poly but appreciates good first up run and can consider on the back of a solid trial. 12
4 THUNDER ** Another with Poly concerns and drawn badly but in form and mile should suit so keep safe. 12
5 METAL WORLD *** Showed his best to win last start, gate 1 a bonus and has won on the Poly so pay to follow. 6.00
6 LORD OF CLOUD ** Only battled last start over 1700m but drawn well and race should suit. 33
7 VOLUMINOUS ** Coming off a shocker on the turf but just missed two back on the Poly and worth another look. 8.00
8 BREATHE FIRE * Reassess in Class 5. 50
9 GOLD KINGDOM *** Up in Class but won well, was competitive prior in this grade and gun hoop can't hurt. Keep safe. 8.00
10 BILLY BRITAIN * Lost all form. 50
11 BORN TO WIN * Goes OK on hi day but Class 5 beckons. 50
12 ALL WE KNOW * Solid work late last start but eligible for easier. 33
13 ASAAD *** Ran down late last start but in fine form and will look the winner at some stage over the mile. 3.00
14 AXEL *** Doesn't win out of turn but appreciates Class 4 Company and handles the Poly so keep safe. 8.00
Selections; 1 SMILING PROUD - 4 STAR FIFTYTWO - 5 NEW GARDEN - 13 HOST THE NATION
An ugly Class 5 and hard to be confident especially when two of the fancies in SMILING PROUD and STAR FIFTYTWO are dropping back from unplaced turf mile runs. But both are versatile and may be better than most horses in this weak field with SMILING PROUD probably the pick of the two with Hakim retaining the ride and a recent win to his name. Of the others, NEW GARDEN broke his maiden status last start on the Poly over 1100m so obviously the race suits and while drawn wide in 12, he can win. The first emergency - HOST THE NATION - has found a weak enough field to have a say if he gets a start. Betting Strategy - small win SMILING PROUD.
1 SMILING PROUD *** Back in trip but versatile, some in hand last start and can follow with Hakim retaining the ride. 3.00
2 TWILL GUY * Battling at best. 33
3 GOLD RUSH * Maiden resuming and market only guide. 33
4 STAR FIFTYTWO *** Back in trip but was due, handles the Poly and goes close. 4.00
5 NEW GARDEN *** Broke maiden status on the Poly last start and pay to follow in Class 5. 3.00
6 LIFE IS GAMBLE ** Showing glimpses but exotics look best. 33
7 QINGDAO ** Tough to follow but back in trip looks a good move on the back of a solid trial. 20
8 ANPANMAN ** Resuming. Trials solid enough to consider at odds sans blinkers. 20
9 SUN ELIZABETH ** Battling of late and drawn wide but gets blinkers first time so look for improvement. 20
10 ACCUMULATION * Lost form. 50
11 VICTORY JOY * Gets blinkers and gate 1 but impossible on recent form. 50
12 JK FLASH ** Struggles to win but this race is weak and has some solid form of late. 10
13 HOST THE NATION *** Battled away at two runs this campaign but better than most here and can win if he gets a start. 6.00
14 HERO IN THE WIND ** Should need longer to win but keep safe in this field. 20
Selections; 7 BE YOU - 8 WHIZ FIZZ - 2 SAVVY COMMAND - 1 SAGE
No real standout in this Novice but a couple of handy 3YO's in BE YOU and WHIZ FIZZ - get in well enough at the race conditions to win. BE YOU has the advantage of three good runs under his belt and with blinkers added from gate 2 on the back of a good trial, he can make amends for two close-up placings. The well-named WHIZ FIZZ won well at his race debut on the Poly and looks a horse to follow with Beuzelin a factor from gate 9. Of the others, SAGE also won well enough on debut to think he goes OK but that field lacked depth so market best guide, while SAVVY COMMAND didn't handle the wet last start and he has to be respected first up on what he showed prior to that run. Keep the first emergency - SKY EYE - safe and market best guide on the others. Betting Strategy - BE YOU win.
1 SAGE *** Bolted in at Singapore debut and will handle the Poly so have to respect but this is harder. 4.00
2 SAVVY COMMAND *** Resuming after tough run in the wet. Having first start on the poly on the back of a quiet trial but has ability so keep safe. 8.00
3 BRUTUS ** Nothing last start and drawn wide but always some show at odds on the Poly. 20
4 SATURNO SPRING * Appreciates first up run but needs longer. 50
5 WIN WIN * Will appreciate the Poly and good gate but may need easier. 33
6 STENMARK ** Battled at Singapore debut but improves for the run on trial form with blinkers and tongue-tie added. 20
7 BE YOU *** Lost no friends with two close defeats after maiden win and gets blinkers. Can win this. 4.00
8 WHIZ FIZZ *** Won well on debut on the Poly and in well at the conditions so well worth following. 4.00
9 ARION SUCCESS ** Late River Brilliance. Gate will test but maiden win on the Poly and suited this company. 12
10 THE WILD BAMBOO ** Did it tough on debut so effort to the wire good enough to follow each-way. 12
11 LADY SPRINTBOK ** Better than what she showed last start (rain effected track) but gate will test in this field. 15
12 ACE SOVEREIGN * Maiden who will win races but eligible for easier. 33
13 SKY EYE *** A long way off a good winner last start but always competitive and should have a say here. 6.00
14 LIM'S DREAMWALKER ** Maiden who is having first start on the Poly but should be competitive on race form. 20
Selections; 7 OUR SECRET WEAPON - 6 LIM'S SHOT - 3 GOLDEN THUNDER - 5 HIDDEN PROMISE
With none of the regular Class 5 battlers jumping off the page to win this Poly sprint, a maiden in OUR SECRET WEAPON looks the one to beat. The 3YO has been disappointing since placing behind the smart TUESDAY on debut, but Class 5 looks his easiest assignment thus far with the booking of Hakim a pointer and gate 3 a bonus. Who beats him? The stablemate HIDDEN PROMISE is in very solid form and gate 1 helps his cause, while GOLDEN THUNDER hasn't drawn as well (9) but he looks due and should figure. RETALLICA has drawn the car park but could show up first up after a bleeding attack and STAR BULLET is some show sans blinkers back on the Poly. The biggest threat to OUR SECRET WEAPON could be LIM'S SHOT who ran on super last start and has drawn better for this so keep very safe. Betting Strategy - strong win OUR SECRET WEAPON.
1 BIG MARY ** Impossible on form but drops in Class and gets blinkers so could improve at odds. 33
2 FABULOUS ONE * Didn't show up in Class 5 last start and easier to ignore. 33
3 GOLDEN THUNDER *** Needs a result but is due and can win with a positive ride from the sticky gate. 6.00
4 ALMALEK ** Resuming. Form reads badly but gets Buezelin and race should suit. Watch market. 20
5 HIDDEN PROMISE *** Back in trip but versatile and plays a big part from gate 1. 6.00
6 LIM'S SHOT *** Ran on super last start, better gate helps here and hard to hold out. 5.00
7 OUR SECRET WEAPON *** Showed some ability on the Poly in Maiden Company and will find Class 5 to his liking. Hard to beat with Hakim a factor. 2.40
8 STAR BULLET *** Appreciate being back on the Poly and should figure in this with blinkers off. 12
9 RETALLICA *** Resuming after bleeding attack. Gate a concern but race suits and can win on form prior. 12
10 COMING UP ** Only battled at two starts this campaign but gate 2 helps so could improve. 33
11 WINNER NUMBER ONE * Resuming after a couple of solid at best runs and gate doesn't help. 50
12 KING MIDAS * Another that didn't need the wide gate on exposed form. 50
13 BROADWAY SUCCESS * OK two back on the Poly but battling as a rule. 33
14 CIZEN BOSS ** Ran on super late with excuses not to finish closer over the mile last start. Respect. 12
Selections; 2 SENOR DON - 13 ON LINE - 1 VITTORIA PERFETTA - 12 YAYA PAPAYA
A fascinating Class 3 Poly mile and while the last start winner - VITTORIA PERFETTA - looks the benchmark with Saifudin retaining the ride, SENOR DON could be the best horse in the race and happy to have him on top. A Group winner in Argentina, SENOR DON took a while to show his best in Singapore but it also took a while to get him onto the Poly and no surprise (given his breeding) that would be the case. His work late over an unsuitable trip last start was good and he should be very hard to hold out over the mile in this Company. It may the first emergency - ON LINE - who is the biggest danger and with Beuzelin booked by Mike Clements, expect a very big run. Clements also trains VITTORIA PERFETTA who obviously can win and IRON RULER who looks a battler’s chance. YAYA PAPAYA worth one more look with blinkers back on and go wider in exotics. Betting Strategy - SENOR DON strong win.
1 VITTORIA PERFETTA *** Dictated and won well in similar affair last start and same hoop stays on. Follow. 4.00
2 SENOR DON *** Ran on well last start over 1100m and hard to hold out over this trip with handy 2kg claim. 3.00
3 EXCEED NATURAL * Form terrible but freshened and stops in Class so could improve at odds sans blinkers. 33
4 SKY ROCKET * Surprised when winning three back in the wet and have to take on trust. 20
5 TIME LORD ** Nothing last start but drops in grade and form prior has him under notice. 12
6 BUDDY BUDDY * Gate 1 helps but prefer on the turf in this grade. 20
7 SILENT PARTNER * In form and drawn well with top hoop but Poly form a worry so looks a risk. 12
8 DANCING RAIN ** Placed in a similar affair last start and can follow although will need luck from wide gate. 8.00
9 GREEN STAR ** Resuming after Class 4 win over the mile on Poly in March last year. Market only guide. 20
10 MADE IN RUSSIA ** Worked home well behind VITTORIA PERFETTA last start and expect much the same sans visor. 12
11 IRON RULER ** Saddle slipped last start and should be competitive on best form. 12
12 YAYA PAPAYA *** Form this campaign only fair but gets blinkers and that should help in what is a suitable race. 15
13 ON LINE *** In form, showed two back that he handles the Poly and can win if he gets a start with Beuzelin a pointer. 5.00
14 STRONG N POWERFUL *** Form starting to taper but mile suits and has handled the Poly previously so could show up. 12
Selections; 5 TUESDAY - 1 LIM'S ZOOM - 4 GOLDEN FLAME - 2 SONGGONG HERA
While we can make a case for two or three of the others, TUESDAY looks hard to beat in the lucky last. The 3YO's only bad run was on the turf two starts back but showed last start when winning easily on the Poly in this Company that he is a horse with a big future and should win this. He has drawn wide and has 4.5kg extra to carry, so we can consider the likes of GOLDEN FLAME who keeps Hakim and his 3kg claim and will very much appreciate being back on the Poly. LIM'S ZOOM can also win with gate 1 and the experienced "newcomer" in Danny Beasley a factor with a very forward run expected. Of the rest, keep SONGGONG HERA safe as he showed enough at his Singapore debut with support on the Poly to think he improves at odds and the veteran FLAK JACKET is in honest form. Betting Strategy - TUESDAY win.
1 LIM'S ZOOM *** Just missed in similar affair last start and Beasley from gate 1 looks a good combination. 4.00
2 SONGGONG HERA ** Will find this easier than Class 3 and Poly helps on what we saw at Singapore debut. Value. 20
3 FLAK JACKET ** Veteran who remains in good form and will give a sight at odds. 20
4 GOLDEN FLAME *** Battled away on the turf at his last couple but appreciate being back on the poly and worth serious thought. 8.00
5 TUESDAY *** Drawn wide and an extra 4.5kg to carry but won comfortably in this Company last start and hard to hold out. 1.80
6 AUGUSTUS ** Resuming with blinkers added and could run a solid race on the back of a good trial. 33
7 STORMY VIEW ** Can mix his form and Poly form a query at this level so market best guide. 12
8 DESPACITO * No. 50
9 EUNOS AVE THREE ** Battled in this Company in the wet last start but honest and pay to include in exotics. 20
10 MAGNIFICENT GOLD * Gets blinkers but battling and should need longer and easier. 50
11 WHAT YOU LIKE * Competitive as a rule but up in grade and drawn wide so prefer others. 33
12 BIONICS ** For better than it reads and can consider at odds on the back of a quiet trial sans tongue-tie. 25
13 HYDE PARK * Hung on to win in Class 5 last start and that looks his caper. 20
14 LEGEND ROCKS * Up in grade and back in trip so not for me. 33
