Kranji's Saturday meeting preview

Meeting Preview, selections, comments and odds, courtesy Larry Foley,

Racing is indeed a funny game.

At start 32, COUNTOFMONTECRISTO is having his first run outside the Michael Clement stable after some 10 wins and 11 places - most at Group level.

But you could argue the now 7YO has ‘left some on the table’ in regards to Group wins and after only managing a third placing as favourite in the Kranji Mile, connections decided now was as good as time as any for a change of scenery and perhaps luck.

Champion trainer, Mark Walker, got the call from owner Joe Singh and the Kiwi-handler has wasted no time in getting him back to the track with Saturday’s Class 1 mile his first assignment.

It’s a handicap, so ‘The Count’ has to give plenty of weight to all and sundry, but a 3kg Hakim claim looks a very smart move and a very forward run is expected and a win would not surprise.

The beneficiaries of the race conditions are the likes of MR CLINT, PREDITOR and perhaps MAKANANI who will all appreciate the lightweight at this level but all will have to improve on recent efforts over similar trips.

Down in the ratings, MR MALEK is obviously tested in this Class but could be the bolter on the minimum after giving Inferno something to pass in the Singapore Classic last start and winning his previous five.

Elsewhere on the card, two debutantes in TIGAROUS and BLUE BLOOD look hard to beat in races two and five respectively and look handy bankers on what looks a tricky day for punters.

Best Bets: (TIGAROUS race 2, win), (BLUE BLOOD race 5, win), and (WEALTH ELITE race 14, value).

Bankers for Jackpots: Race 11 (1, 2, 3 and 5), race 12 (1, 2, 3 and 13), race 13 (1, 2, 3, 6 and 12), race 14 (1, 2, 4, 5, 6 and 8).

Please note the odds listed are "reference odds" only.

Race 1

A wide open race to start the day and while we be keeping a very close eye on the two Stephen Gray runners, the Shane Baertschiger-trained FROM THE NAVY is the one to beat. The maiden is due to win, 1400m suits and from gate 7 you would think Harry Kasim will give him every chance. The two Gray horses with winning hopes are RUNMINDERBINDERRUN and SABAH STAR. Of the two, RUNMINDERBINDERRUN had excuses not to finish closer last start and looks due to win with Maia up, while SABAH STAR may be the value runner first up in what is a suitable race on the back of a good trial. Of the others with winning chances, AWESOME CONQUEROR is the obvious pick given he broke his maiden status in a similar affair last start, while CHAMPAGNE FINALE gets a senior rider and can figure at value over a suitable trip. Give ACHIEVED MORE another chance with the rider suggesting he didn't handle the wet track last start. Betting Strategy - CHAMPAGNE FINALE each-way.
1 ACHIEVED MORE *** Disappointing with support last start but rider suggested track conditions (rain) didn't suit. Worth another look over 1400m. 8.00
2 FROM THE NAVY *** Maiden who is due, 1400m suits and hard to hold out. 4.00
3 RUNMINDERBINDERRUN *** Excuses not to finish closer when resuming and wins without surprising. 4.00
4 STORM TO WIN ** Gate a concern but had excuses last start (clipped heels) and can consider at odds on run prior. 20
5 AVOCADO * Maiden who battles. 100
6 AWESOME CONQUEROR *** Broke maiden status in similar affair last start and pay to follow. 6.00
7 BEAUTY SEVEN SEVEN * Maiden who should appreciate Class 5 but looks a battler. 100
8 CHAMPAGNE FINALE *** Excuses two back and work late last start suggests 1400m suits. Senior rider helps and may be value. 12
9 MIRACLE FAST * Race for dreadful but could be the improver at first start in Class 5. 33
10 SABAH STAR *** Resuming on the back of a solid trial and only placing was this trip. Keep safe. 20
11 HOSAYLIAO ** Last run better than the result and subsequent trial was solid enough to include in exotics. 12
12 LESS IS MORE * Less is really less. 100
13 TSURIAN ** Worked home late last start over 1200m and recent win was this trip. Can consider. 12
14 VETRI ** Can mix his form but looked the winner late over 1200m last start so another to consider. 12
15 NATE'S HONOUR ** Only battled when resuming but recent form over 1400m has been good enough to include in exotics. 33
16 HIGH STREET * No. 100

Race 2

Some times you just get lucky. And the connections of TIGAROUS may have found a four-leafed clover after their Irish-bred 3YO debuts in what is one of the weakest Restricted Maidens seen at Kranji this year. In fact it was hard to make a winning case for any of the others runners so on his good trial form alone, TIGAROUS is the one to beat. Who can improve and be competitive? HAPPY SATURDAY only battled on debut but looked to be under a hard hold at a recent trial so he can be considered, while QIJI AUSTEN had support at his debut and while that run was ordinary, he is worth another look with Maia up. SPILT SECOND also comes off a shocker but has subsequently trialled solidly with AUTUMN BLITZ and RAGING BRAVE worth thought in exotics. Betting Strategy - TIGAROUS win.
1 RAGING BRAVE * Nothing last start on turf but only good run was on the Poly so could improve. 20
2 PERFECT MISSION * Gets blinkers but needs to improve. 33
3 TIGAROUS *** Irish-bred 3YO who has trialled well enough to consider with market best guide. 1.60
4 AUTUMN BLITZ * Put in a shocker on debut but did lead and has trial form. Keep safe at odds. 20
5 GOLDEN TEAK * Australian-bred 3YO colt who hasn't shown up at the local trials so market only guide. 20
6 HAPPY SATURDAY ** Covered some ground on debut and battled away but looked comfortable at subsequent trial so should improve. 8.00
7 KANTHAKA * Battled on debut and prefer others. 33
8 NINETEEN GLORY * 3YO Australian-bred gelding who has shown little at the trials. 33
9 QIJI AUSTON ** Had some support when finding nothing on debut but worth another look sans blinkers with Maia up. 8.00
10 SPLIT SECOND ** Never involved on debut but another that has trialled well enough subsequently to think he improves. 8.00
11 THE WILD PRINCE * Appreciates better gate but needs to improve on debut effort. 33
12 YES ONE BALL * Gets winkers but needs to improve length before considering. 33
13 SPEARHEAD * Not for me. 50

Race 3

Argentinean horses have had a long and successful association with Singapore racing - especially on the Poly - and MOON FACE continued that good run when winning at his Kranji debut. The grey 4YO won well enough in a similar race to this to think he can improve and carry the extra 3kg from gate 4 with Maia retaining the ride. He will have to be on his game though, as STREET PARTY chased him home last start and a 3kg pull in the weights could tell late, while YULONG GREEN is overdue to win in Singapore and must go close first up with some good trials under his belt. Of the rest, CHOCANTE down in grade wins this without surprising and keep the first emergency - UNCONQUERED - very safe as he wins races like this. Betting Strategy - CHOCANTE each-way.
1 CHOCANTE *** Never involved last start but drops to winnable company and could be hard to hold out. 8.00
2 MOON FACE *** Argentinean who won well with support at Singapore debut and can carry extra 3kg and win again. 3.00
3 KEY SUCCESS ** Did it tough when resuming and should be improved with tongue-tie although will be better over longer. 20
4 ZERO TO HERO * Blinkers on, tongue-tie off but easier to ignore on form. 50
5 YULONG GREEN *** Resuming. Yet to win in Singapore but foot on the till and recent trials suggests he goes very close. 4.00
6 LONGHU ** Only battled when resuming on the turf but does prefer the poly so should improve. 33
7 BROADWAY SUCCESS * Took a drop to Class 5 to win and will find this harder. 12
8 HELUSHKA * Battled when resuming and needs longer. 33
9 KING ZOUSTAR ** Gate could test but in the mix when resuming and always some hope with winkers to visor. 8.00
10 STREET PARTY *** Ran on well behind Moon Face last start and gets a 3kg pull in weights. Big show. 6.00
11 NORTHERN SUN ** Also ran on well late behind Moon Face last start and expect much the same. 20
12 OL MATE BUZZER * Poly suits but wide gate a concern and may need easier. 33
13 UNCONQUERED *** Showed last start why this type of race is his caper and goes close if he gets a start. 8.00
14 CHALAZA ** Honest and always an each-way show in races like this. 12

Race 4

Another Class 5 over 1400m and another with many hopes on recent form, which makes it tough for punters. FIREWORKS has drawn wide but has most other things in has favour so if Hakim and his 3kg claim can get any sort of run, he will be right in this finish over his only winning trip. Likewise, MR ROCKWELL was due to win one of these - albeit at his last campaign - and he will also figure in the mix on the back of some solid trials, while LIM'S RHYTHM has found form this campaign and he will go very close with any luck from a sticky gate. Looking for value, HERO IN THE WIND could run a very cheeky race first up in a race that suits, while KRANJI GOLD looks out of form but a recent trial sans blinkers suggest he can improve. Betting Strategy - KRANJI GOLD each-way if value.
1 HERO IN THE WIND *** Resuming after returning lame last start. 1400m look ideal first up and will give a sight. 12
2 BEAT THE LIGHT * Resuming. Usually thereabouts but wide gate could test here. 20
3 MR ROCKWELL *** Resuming. Was due last campaign, race suits and hard to hold out. 3.60
4 SOUTHERN WIND * Battler. 50
5 BOOM ALMIGHTY * Shown glimpses but awkward draw suggests another day. 20
6 FIREWORKS *** Is due, only win was this trip and hard to hold out with any luck in running from wide gate. 4.00
7 STAR EFFECT ** Will enjoy being back on the turf, can lead from gate 2 and worth thought at value. 12
8 WINNING POWER ** Did some work so effort to place last start was good and can figure. 12
9 KRANJI GOLD *** Hasn't shown much two runs this campaign but recent trial with blinkers off and tongue-tie on was good so keep very safe. 12
10 LIM'S RHYTHM *** Drawn wide but found form this campaign and must respect sans visor. 5.00
11 LIM'S LEADER ** Maiden who looks to be battling but should improve in Class 5 on the back of a solid trial. 33
12 PEGASUS JUNIOR * Solid without being a threat in similar affair and expect the same. 33
13 MIRACLE TIME ** Resuming. Puts in the odd good run and can consider at odds on the back of some easy trials. 20
14 FLASH THE FLAG * Nuisance value only sans blinkers. 100
15 MINGS MAN ** Veteran who appreciates first up run and step up to best trip. Value. 20
16 ANOTHER SHOW * Battler. 50

Race 5

Selections; 7 BLUE BLOOD - 1 SIMBA - 12 WIN WIN - 8 LATENT POWER
While we will respect one or two of these runners on good trial and maiden form, BLUE BLOOD looks extremely hard to beat on the back of what was a very impressive trial. The 4YO NZ-bred gelding was in a trial of his own on that occasion and given it was in a slick time, he is very hard to beat with gate 1 a bonus. As mentioned earlier, we will respect SIMBA who is first up after a bleeding attack as his maiden form was promising and his recent trial good enough to think he can show something here, while WIN WIN is also first up with some good trials under his belt and it will be interesting to see the market support for these two. LATENT POWER had excuses (respiratory) when resuming and is also worth thought on what he showed on debut. Forget the rest. Betting Strategy - BLUE BLOOD strong win.
1 SIMBA *** Resuming after bleeding attack in Class 4. Placed with support at two maiden runs. Can win on the back of a good trial. 8.00
2 REALITY * Uruguay 4YO who did it tough at Kranji debut and should improve for the outing. 50
3 KING MIDAS * Has speed but will weaken sans winkers. 50
4 NINETYSIX WARRIOR * Gets blinkers but battles as a rule. 50
5 FIGHT MY WAY * Hard to have. 100
6 DARK KNIGHT * Resuming and no. 100
7 BLUE BLOOD *** NZ-bred 4YO who bolted in at his recent trial and looks extremely hard to beat. 1.20
8 LATENT POWER ** Respiratory issues when resuming with support so can forgive and take on good debut and trial form. 12
9 QIJI LOVE * Needs to show more. 100
10 TRAVIS * Will improve with racing and recent trial OK but may need longer with winkers added. 50
11 UPLINK * Put in a shocker on debut but recent trial with blinkers off and winkers on was solid so could improve. 50
12 WIN WIN *** Resuming after long layoff. Debut was solid but recent trials suggest much more to offer sans blinkers. Keep safe. 8.00
13 FAIRY'S WING * Resuming and no. 100

Race 6

With no standouts in this Class 3 field, a newcomer from France in SINCERELY may be one to watch at his Singapore debut. The 5YO gelding arrived with a race record of three wins and three placings from eight career starts and given his local trials have been good, he can easily show up with Beuzelin up from gate 4. A relative newcomer in MAGNIFIQUE also gets a chance to knock in an early win in Singapore. The former Australian did the work last start and was still in the mix late and given the other on-pace runners didn't figure, he could be hard to run over at his first start on the turf in Singapore. Market best guide on the likes of COMING THROUGH, MAKKEM LAD, WECANDO and EASY DOES IT, who all look suited to show their best. SO YOU TOO and BLITZING may improve. Betting Strategy - SINCERELY win.
1 COMING THROUGH *** Solid without being a winning threat when resuming but appreciate the run and should figure. 8.00
2 BIRAZ * Resuming and prefer to watch on trial form after drawing the widest gate. 33
3 MAKKEM LAD *** Swamped last start over 1400m but better suited here and should give a sight. 8.00
4 WECANDO *** Resuming. Best form over 1400m but trialling well enough to keep safe. 7.00
5 MR HOOPER * Honest and appreciates first up run but wide gate will test in this company. 20
6 SO YOU TOO ** Having no luck at the gates but recent trial was good and downgrade to blinkers left hand side only may help. Value. 20
7 EASY DOES IT *** Resuming after pulling up lame last start. Wining form prior was over longer but pay to watch on the back of a good trial. 8.00
8 SINCERELY *** French gelding who won three from eight before arrival and local trails suggests he can win at Kranji debut. 4.00
9 BLITZING ** Yet to show his best in Singapore but gets winkers and tongue-tie and can improve on the turf. 20
10 COUSTEAU * Resuming after bleeding attack. Turf form a big worry but gets blinkers on the back of a very good trial so keep safe. 12
11 MAGNIFIQUE *** Did the work last start and ran on well to be in the winning mix. Must be respected on the turf. 6.00
12 CARIBBEAN LADY * Resuming and will need longer in this Company. 50
13 FLAK JACKET * In the winning mix last start over 1000m on the Poly and that looks his caper in this grade. 20
14 LIM'S KNIGHT * Battled when resuming and another better suited on the Poly. 33
15 ABSOLVIDO ** Up in Class but was running on well in this grade previously so pay to keep safe if he gets a run. 20

Race 7

While there are four Class droppers we will consider in this Poly dash, HOTSHOT SLAMS looks the best of them and he should really win. The now 4YO placed at Group level (behind Inferno) as a 2YO and while he obviously hasn't set the world on fire since then, he has shown glimpses and if he can't win in Class 5, he may not win again. BARTIMAEUS, EXTRA WIN and GOOD CATCH are the other three Class droppers to consider and while all look hopelessly out of form, all three are suited over 1100m and the market may be best guide on their chances. JUST STARS, TRY MAK MAK, HIGH VOLTAGE and JUMPIN JACK for exotics. Betting Strategy - HOTSHOT SLAMS win.
1 BARTIMAEUS *** Form reads very badly but big drop in Class has him under notice in this field sans blinkers. 6.00
2 EXTRA WIN *** Significant drop in grade and track and trip suits. Gate some concern but hard to beat on some recent trial form. 5.00
3 GOOD CATCH *** Resuming after long break. Trial was sound and will improve on recent form given he drops to Class 5 with blinkers added. 10
4 HOTSHOTS SLAM *** Never involved from wide gate in Novice last start. Placed at Group level as a 2YO and some recent form good so hard to beat in Class 5. 2.00
5 JUST STARS ** Maiden who showed enough two back on the Poly to follow in Class 5. 12
6 TRY MAK MAK ** Faded when resuming but can consider on form prior. 12
7 HIGH VOLTAGE ** Just fair last start but gets blinkers so should improve at odds. 20
8 JUMPIN JACK ** Resuming after a poor run of form but recent trial OK so look for improvement. 20
9 MISS MICHELLE * Struggling at the business end. 33
10 NATUREISSPEAKING * Tongue-tie off but just a battler. 100
11 SUPERSONICSURPRISE * Easier to ignore. 100
12 WISAKA * Gets blinkers but hard to have. 100
13 DAVID'S STAR * May go like the clappers early with blinkers added but will battle late. 20
14 LIM'S TRAVEL * Appreciates first up run but should need longer. 50

Race 8

There is not a lot of depth in this Class 5 and many are more comfortable on the poly. SAYONARA is a maiden but had support and ran on when resuming; the step up to 1400m will suit and from a good gate gets his chance to break through with Maia a factor. FIGHT TO VICTORY hasn't been far away at both starts since resuming and his only win was over this trip; with Simon Kok taking the mount and blinkers back on he should be in the finish. GIANT KILLING broke through on the poly last start when resuming, the step up in trip may suit and from gate one he draws to do no work; he could go on with it. The field falls away after these but EASY SOUTH EAST has speed and a good gate and just needs to run 1400m, while HIGH LIMIT, FAST AND FEARLESS, MAXIMILIAN and TAVITO will enjoy the trip but take on trust on turf. Betting Strategy - SAYONARA win.
1 EASY SOUTH EAST *** Run down late last start over 1200m. Yet to win but has speed. Take on trust over 1400m. 10
2 COLONIEL STAR * Needs to improve on efforts since resuming. 50
3 FIGHT TO VICTORY *** Not far away at both outings since resuming. Blinkers back on and only win was at this trip. With Simon Kok to ride should be in the finish. 4.00
4 FAST AND FEARLESS ** Returned with respiratory issues last start after placing on synthetic when resuming. Trip may suit but yet to win and gate no help. 14
5 SAYONARA *** Had support and was close up when resuming. Extra 200m will suit and will get a good run throughout. 4.00
6 SUN ELIZABETH ** Only battled late last start with support but will appreciate turf and did look due. 25
7 HIGH LIMIT * Led before weakening on poly last start. Has trialled since but best form is on poly. 14
8 MASTER SOMMELIER * Struggled when resuming but has trialled since. Poorly drawn and needs to improve. 100
9 GIANT KILLING *** Caught wide and ran on best to win narrowly when resuming on poly. Step up in trip won't hurt and can show up from good gate. 3.50
10 TAVITO ** Has battled at both outings since resuming but extra distance should suit. 14
11 MAXIMILIAN ** Placed on poly over 1200m last outing. Only win was on poly but extra distance suits. 14
12 GOLDEN SHOW * Resuming. Needs to improve on efforts to date. 100
13 VICTORY JOY * Did nothing when resuming. Improvement required. 100
14 GINGERMAN * Battled when resuming. Best form on poly over longer but has placed this trip. Gate no help. 25
15 BIG REGARDS * Disappointing last start but race suits and gets tongue-tie. Watch for support. 14
16 FOREVER GOOD * Needs to improve on efforts since resuming. 50

Race 9

The most interesting runner in this Class 3 is the Mark Walker-trained MASTER RYKER. As an early 3YO in Australia, MASTER RYKER won the Group III Up and Coming Stakes over 1300m at Randwick but didn't win in eight subsequent starts; he made a good impression when runner-up at his first Singapore start over 1000m on the poly, a tongue-tie goes on and from gate one with Hakim's claim can win. WASSERGEIST also ran on well over 1000m on the poly to place when resuming and his last win was this class and distance; fitter for the recent outing he should be in the finish. LEGEND OF THE SUN disappointed last start but is much better suited on turf and can be prominent from the good gate. Of the rest, TRAPIO was not far away when resuming and his form was sound last prep, SURGE returned dry-coated when resuming but has trialled since and gets tongue-tie, while ARAMANI and WATCH OUT BOSS could give a sight. Betting Strategy - MASTER RYKER win.
1 ARAMANI ** Has led and weakened at both Singapore outings. Will strip fitter but needs to improve. 16
2 MASTER RYKER *** Ran on well at first Singapore outing over 1000m on poly. Better suited here and has won at Group III level in Australia. Claim, tongue-tie and good gate help. 3.00
3 AUTUMN RUSH * Dropping in grade but best form is on poly. Gate no help. 50
4 NO FUN NO GAIN * Only battled when resuming. Won back-to-back Class 4's over this trip last prep. Awkwardly drawn. 20
5 WASSERGEIST *** Ran on well on poly over 1000m when resuming. Last win was this class and distance. Should be in the finish. 4.00
6 WATCH OUT BOSS ** Ran on well to place on poly over 1000m when resuming. Well-drawn and will get a good run throughout. 14
7 AXEL * Faded out when resuming but has trialled since and gets tongue-tie. Drops back in trip and gate no help. 33
8 LIMITED EDITION * Won Class 4 narrowly when resuming but struggled over 1400m last start. Blinkers off but might need easier. 33
9 LEGEND OF THE SUN *** Disappointed last start but much better suited on turf. Well drawn and can be prominent. 6.00
10 SURGE ** Returned dry-coated when resuming. Has trialled since and gets tongue-tie. Best Singapore form on poly but could show up from good gate. 10
11 DIAMOND BEAUTY * Battled away when resuming and back in trip not ideal. 33
12 MY BIG BOSS * Racing well since resuming and not far away last outing over 1000m but best form is on poly. Gate no help. 20
13 TRAPIO ** Not far away when resuming and form was sound last prep. Well drawn and will be running on. 10
14 ELITE CONQUEST * Yet to win in Singapore. Might need easier. 100

Race 10

Another Class 5 of moderate quality and it may pay to go with some lightly raced Maidens who have less convictions than most and/or those with good recent trial form. RETALLICA was only found out late when resuming over 1200m, is well drawn and with Maia replacing an apprentice will get every chance at start 10. FOUNTAIN OF FAME has a similar profile placing at both starts since resuming; he too is well drawn and with Nizar claiming 3kg will be near the speed throughout. From the trials, DREAMWEAVER hasn't won for a long time but he has three Class 4 wins to his credit and his recent trials are good enough to win this, while BRING ME JOY has drawn poorly but has speed, is suited this class and could overcome the gate on the back of a good recent trial. RAPID FIRE for exotics and it's hard to make a case for the rest. Betting Strategy - DREAMWEAVER win.
1 RAPID FIRE ** Fitter for two outings since resuming. Claim helps and will run on. 6.00
2 BIG STAR * Resuming. Has shown little in 12 starts. 100
3 LUCKY TIGER * Well back at both outings since resuming and needs longer. 100
4 DREAMWEAVER *** Resuming. Veteran who hasn't won for a long time and was in poor form but recent trials with blinkers added have been good enough to win this. 6.00
5 FOUNTAIN OF FAME *** Close up at both outings since resuming. Yet to win in nine starts but gets chance from good gate. 3.00
6 ROMAN CLASSIC * Has only battled at both outings since resuming. May need longer. 50
7 SMOOTH OPERATOR * Did nothing when resuming. Tested. 100
8 RETALLICA *** Was on the speed throughout and just missed when resuming on the back of a solid trial. Will be prominent again. 3.00
9 LEGENDARY ERA * Resuming. Trialled fairly. Yet to place in 12 starts. Watch market. 50
10 HOOGA NET * Resuming. Only wins are over longer. Watch market. 20
11 SMASH * Led before weakening when resuming. Gate no help but gets blinkers. 20
12 BRING ME JOY *** Showed speed when resuming and last win was at this trip. Poorly drawn but should be prominent on the back of a good trial. 8.00
13 ACCUMULATION * 20 start Maiden well back when resuming. Needs to improve. 50
14 YOU ARE SPECIAL * Yet to place in ten starts. 100

Race 11

A competitive Class 2 where the majority are more comfortable in Class 3. SACRED REBEL is an exception having won a similar race to this when resuming; he rises 2.5kg but is well drawn and should be in the finish again. AUGUSTANO led before fading in the Merlion Trophy, will appreciate this grade and despite the wide gate, can give a sight. ALTAIR has not shown up since resuming but he did beat TOP KNIGHT in this class last prep and can improve for Maia. HUGO was caught wide and wasn't far away in a Class 3 last start; he is better drawn here, the extra distance suits and he should get a good run throughout. ARARAT LADY fought hard to lead and win in a Class 3 race over 1000m last start and while she is poorly drawn, she has no weight and will be prominent. The rider reported YOU ROKK had respiratory issues last start, he also had excuses two back and does have form at Class 2 level; keep safe. Betting Strategy: YOU ROKK each-way.
1 SACRED REBEL *** Too good when resuming. Rises 2.5kg but well drawn and can be in the finish again. 4.00
2 ALTAIR *** Improved by two outings since resuming and gets a visor. Poorly drawn but beat Top Knight last prep in this class and could run on. 6.00
3 AUGUSTANO *** Led before fading in Merlion Trophy. Will appreciate this grade and can give a sight. 4.00
4 DARC BOUNTY * Has speed and fitter for two outings since resuming but gate may test. 20
5 YOU ROKK *** Not far away last start and rider reported respiratory issues. Excuses start prior. Keep safe at value. 14
6 SIAM WARRIOR * Has battled at both outings since resuming. Won back-to-back Class 3's last prep and can improve. 16
7 LIM'S MAGIC * Unsighted when resuming and hasn't won for nearly three years. 100
8 ARARAT LADY ** Fought hard to lead and win over 1000m last start. Poorly drawn but has no weight and will be prominent. 8.00
9 NATIONALITY * Battled on turf last start but won over this trip in Class 3 at start prior. Gets winkers and will run on. 20
10 ARC TRIUMPH * Ran on best to win Class 3 over 1000m last start. This is harder. 20
11 HUGO ** Caught wide and wasn't far away in Class 3 last start. Better drawn here and should get a good run throughout. 6.00
12 LIM'S ZOOM ** Ran on well when resuming in Class 3. Suited this trip and will run on. 20
13 KISS YOUR SONG * Won Class 3 over 1200m when resuming and wasn't far away over 1000m last start. Well drawn and could show up. 14
14 RED ROVER * Only battled when resuming in this class but could improve from the good gate. 20

Race 12

All the interest in this Class 1 is on COUNTOFMONTECRISTO having his first run for new trainer Mark Walker. The prolific winner ran his usual honest race in the Kranji Mile and with a 3kg claim for Hakim, is well placed here despite the awkward gate. MR CLINT ran on from well back in the Kranji Mile, meets COUNTOFMONTECRISTO 3.5kg better and will be the one closing late. PREDITOR is backing up quickly after a solid effort over 1400m, the extra distance doesn't hurt and with a 2kg claim for Shafrizal he can make his presence felt. MR MALEK ran a bold race in the Singapore Classic, the step up to 1600m will test but he has the speed to give a sight with 50kg. MAKANANI, LOYALTY MAN and KING LOUIS for exotics. Betting Strategy – COUNTOFMONTECRISTO, MR MALEK forecast.
1 COUNTOFMONTECRISTO *** Has changed stables. Fought bravely in Kranji Mile and will be prominent for a long way with crucial 3kg claim. 2.50
2 MR CLINT *** Ran on from well back in Kranji Mile. Meets COUNTOFMONTECRISTO 3.5kg better and will be looming late. 3.00
3 PREDITOR *** Backing up after solid effort over 1400m last week. Poorly drawn but has no weight and will run on. 12
4 YULONG EDITION * Returned with heat stress last start but needs to improve on efforts since resuming. 50
5 MAKANANI ** Raffles Cup winner who appreciates first up run and has to be respected with no weight. 33
6 KING LOUIS ** Unsighted in Kranji Mile but effort when resuming was sound. Can run on sans blinkers with no weight. 20
7 ELITE QUARTETO * Did nothing when resuming. 100
8 EXCEED NATURAL * Battled on in Kranji Mile. Could improve over this trip with 50kg and visor added. 14
9 TRUMPY * Has good black-type form in Argentina but struggled at only Singapore start. Tested here but mile suits. 100
10 LOYALTY MAN ** Won Class 3 over 1600m last start, has been competitive on good company previously and pay to keep safe. 50
11 LIM'S SAMURAI * Backing up quickly with blinkers added but needs to improve. 100
12 BLUE SWEDE * Hasn't won for over three years. Tested. 100
13 MR MALEK *** Led before being run down in Singapore Classic. Stepping up to 1600m and poorly drawn but is very smart. 4.00

Race 13

An interesting Class 4 over 1800m with a couple of Class droppers and two others on the way up. MERYL bolted in last start over 1600m and did a similar demolition job at her only previous attempt at 1600m; the step up to 1800m shouldn't be a problem on breeding and she will be hard to beat. DON DE LA VEGA is another that will enjoy 1800m given he won a similar race to this last preparation and resumed with a good effort over 1400m. LUCK OF MASTER only battled when resuming but drops in grade and won over this trip last preparation. AUGUSTUS is fitter for three runs since resuming, also drops in Class and this trip suits. SHEPHERD'S HYMN was belted by MERYL last start but he is an improving type and 1800m will suit and give IRON RULER another chance as he was supported last start and had plenty of excuses. Betting Strategy - MERYL win, saver on IRON RULER.
1 AUGUSTUS *** Backing up quickly. Drops in grade and trip suits. Fitter for recent outings and with 3kg claim will be running on. Keep safe. 8.00
2 LUCK OF MASTER *** Unsighted when resuming but drops in grade. Last win was this class and distance. Will run on. 6.00
3 MERYL *** Bolted in over 1600m last start. Rises 4kg and poorly drawn but just has to run 1800m to be hard to beat. 3.00
4 BOY NEXT DOOR * Well back at both outings since resuming. Needs to improve. 100
5 MATSURIBAYASHI ** Battled on when resuming. Suited this class and distance. Will run on at odds. 16
6 DON DE LA VEGA *** Made ground when resuming. Won this trip two back and will be hard to hold off. 3.50
7 BILLY BRITAIN * Veteran who needs to improve on efforts since resuming. 100
8 SHEPHERD'S HYMN ** Fought on but well beaten by MERYL last start. Improving with racing and can show up again. 10
9 GOD'S GIFT ** Start costly last time out and work late suggests worth following. 16
10 TOUCH THE CLOUDS * Ran on late when resuming. Extra distance suits but yet to win in Singapore. 33
11 CIRCUIT STAR * Solid late when resuming. Take on trust at 1800m. 50
12 IRON RULER *** Had support and excuses (saddle) last start. Extra distance may suit so give another chance. 33
13 AUSPICIOUS DAY * Well beaten but made ground over 1600m last start. Will run on. 20
14 PLATO * Won in Class 5 when resuming but has battled since. 100
15 MAGNIFICENT GOLD ** Battles away but finds it hard to win. Trip suits and will be thereabouts. 33
16 DUSSELDORF * Needs to improve on efforts since resuming. 100

Race 14

Plenty of questions in this Class 4 and much depends on whether GENTLEMEN AGREEMENT and JR MALONE - who won and ran third respectively in a similar race on turf last start - can handle the poly. GENTLEMEN AGREEMENT has failed at two previous outings on the all-weather but had excuses and JR MALONE only battled at his Singapore debut on the poly. One that will handle the surface is GAMELY who took 20 starts to win his Maiden but has raced well at three starts since resuming, culminating in a win in this class and distance last outing; he rises 2kg but Maia stays on and from gate one he will get all the favours. Another with questions is STAR EMPIRE who returned lame when resuming but won his previous start at this class and distance. One more to watch is HEAVENLY DANCER who resumes after a Maiden win and has trialled well; watch for support. Keep WEALTH ELITE safe at odds as he looked to have some in hand last start and gets blinkers. Betting Strategy - WEALTH ELITE each-way.
1 GENTLEMEN AGREEMENT *** Resumed well to win this class and distance on turf but has failed at both poly outings. Take on trust. 4.00
2 JR MALONE *** Placed behind GENTLEMEN AGREEMENT last start. Battled on poly at first Singapore outing. Gets winkers and can improve. 4.00
3 MIG PIERRO * Has only battled at both outings since resuming but race does suit. 33
4 STAR EMPIRE *** Returned lame when resuming but won previous start this class and distance. Well drawn and should be prominent. 6.00
5 HEAVENLY DANCER *** Resuming after winning on debut. Trialled well. Watch market. 6.00
6 GAMELY *** In good form since resuming winning a similar race last start. Rises 2kg but should be prominent again. 4.00
7 SUPER POWER * Only battled last start and blinkers go back on. Hasn't won for a while but could show up on best form. Poorly drawn. 25
8 WEALTH ELITE *** Won Maiden when resuming and looked to have plenty in hand last start when unplaced. Gets blinkers and could be the bolter at odds. 16
9 SUN FORMATION * Battled when resuming. Better in Class 5. 50
10 IMPERIUM * Only battled last start but better drawn and trip suits. 25
11 SILVER SKY ** Prefer in Class 5 but ran on well when resuming so keep safe. 100
12 STAR BULLET ** Showed speed last start and gets blinkers but gate no help. 100
13 ASGARD MASSIF * Has shown nothing since arrival but recent trial good enough to think he improves. 100
14 FIRE AWAY * Did nothing when resuming after long break. 100
