Mr Lees also confirmed that Triple Acehad not displayed any lameness issue prior to the event. A necropsy report provided by the University Teaching Hospital Camden determined that the mare sustained a catastrophic fracture of the nearside scapula. A post-mortem sample submitted to the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory was certified as negative. _____

RACE 1: Go Hire Benchmark 78 Handicap 2000m:

Shibli – Began awkwardly.

Tampering – Rider T. Clark reported that the gelding jumped awkwardly and, when several runners inside showed pace, he allowed Tampering to gradually improve whereby it raced wide in the early stages before obtaining a position outside the lead near the 1200m. T. Clark added that, in his view, Tampering did not run out a strong 2000 metres and may not have backed up from its last start at Newcastle on 13 November. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr K. Parker concurred with the view offered by rider T. Clark and advised that Tampering will now be spelled.

Solar Apex – When questioned regarding his riding making the home turn and in the early stages of the straight, and the reason he did not shift to the outside of Tic Tock Man, H. Bowman stated that at the gelding's run at Randwick on 9 October it did not run out a strong 2000 metres and, for this reason, he was reluctant to shift and make a move to the outside. He stated that, as a consequence, he followed Shibli to ensure his mount was given a horse to follow into the event and, after obtaining clear running leaving the 350m, Solar Apex finished the race off in a reasonable fashion, although it may not have run out today's 2000 metres.

Suppression – Slow to begin and, shortly after the start, was steadied when crowded between Avion Fury and Tic Tock Man, both of which shifted ground. From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. When questioned regarding the performance, rider J. McDonald advised that with the gelding coming back in distance today it settled towards the rear of the field from its wide barrier. He stated that near the 600m he commenced to make a forward move to the outside of Solar Apex, however, at the same time, the tempo of the event increased and Suppression did not quicken, and as a consequence he was obliged to remain racing behind Solar Apex. J. McDonald added that, once under full pressure from the 500m, Suppression responded in a one-paced manner and in his opinion would be better suited up in distance for its next race start and in circumstances where it can hold a more forward position. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Stable representative Mr C. Duckworth advised that the gelding had pleased the stable since its last start win on 6 November and he concurred with the view of J. McDonald that the gelding would be suited by being stepped up in distance where it can be ridden in a more forward position. Mr Duckworth undertook to report back if anything was amiss with Suppression subsequent to the race.

Five Kingdom – Began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with Shibli. Rider J. Collett advised that it was not his intention to lead, but after jumping well from an inside barrier and when the expected leader Tampering did not show early pace, Five Kingdom was able to hold the lead without being pressured.

Avion Fury – Slow to begin and, shortly after the start, was steadied when crowded by Tampering, which shifted in. From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

The Guru – Began only fairly and, shortly after the start, shifted out and was steadied from the heels of Tic Tock Man.

Kermatin – T. Berry, the rider of Lord Desanimaux, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that near the 250m he did permit Lord Desanimaux to shift out whilst riding along when not clear of Kermatin resulting in Kermatin having to be checked. T. Berry's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday 28 November 2021 and to expire on Monday 6 December 2021, on which day he may ride.

Lucky Banner – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

Mr Aloysius – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after sustaining a small cut to the nearside hip whilst on course and was passed suitable to start.

Port Douglas – On straightening was bumped by Point Counterpoint when that runner shifted out to improve. Near the 300m became momentarily unbalanced when bumped by Kermatin.

Room Number – Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped Mr Aloysius. Approaching the 600m commenced to race keenly and was steadied from the heels of Lord Desanimaux. Near the 200m, when commencing to make ground, had to be steadied from the heels of Mr Aloysius as that runner commenced to give ground. Room Number then was held up for a short distance thereafter. Over the final 75 metres Room Number raced in restricted room between Mr Aloysius and Laughing Or Crying and could not be tested to the finish of the event.

Post Free – Shortly after the start was hampered by Sumdeel, which shifted in. From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Miss Bosetti – Slow to begin.

Don Luigi – Rider A. Collett stated that in the gelding's preliminary it appeared to resent the cross-over nose band, which it was wearing for the first time today. She stated that, as a result, at the start she allowed the gelding to jump on a loose rein, but Don Luigi jumped awkwardly, shifted out abruptly and subsequently lost ground. She added that throughout the event Don Luigi continued to resent the cross-over nose band and did not finish the race off. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr K. Parker said that he will now experiment with the gear on Don Luigi and report to Stewards whether he makes any change, and also report back on the condition of Don Luigi in the days subsequent.

RACE 4: Elite Sand & Soil Colts, Geldings and Entires Benchmark 78 Handicap 1200m:

Canasta – Began awkwardly and made contact with Nictock. Shortly afterwards, Canasta was crowded between Nictock and Rammstein, which shifted in. Near the 400m was shifted to the inside of Colonel to secure a narrow run. Canasta raced tight to the inside of Colonel between the 400m and the 150m where it was obliged to be steadied when Colonel shifted in. R. Freeman-Key, the rider of Colonel, was reprimanded. After shifting to the outside of Colonel near the 100m to obtain clear running, Canasta became awkwardly placed on the heels of Colonel when that runner shifted out near the 50m.

Black Duke – Began only fairly. Rider R. Dolan stated that over the concluding stages his mount became unbalanced and as a result he was not able to fully test the gelding to the finish.

Nicci's Fling – From the 1000m raced wide and without cover.

Selburose – Rider J. McDonald stated that the mare jumped awkwardly and then was hampered by Seleque, which shifted out, and as a consequence lost ground. J. McDonald added that, as a result, he elected to shift Selburose behind runners from the outside barrier and made ground along the rail in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed Selburose to be lame (2/5) in the off-foreleg. Mr C. Duckworth, representing trainer Mr C. Waller, was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to Selburose being permitted to race or barrier trial again.

Redoute's Image – Near the 800m was awkwardly placed on the heels of Exotic Ruby when that runner shifted in and away from Tinker McPhee.

Tinker McPhee – Began only fairly. Rider H. Bowman stated that it was not his intention to race outside the lead but with the slow early pace and to avoid being caught wide and without cover he was able to take advantage of the early speed and race in a more forward position.

Seleque – Began awkwardly. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed Seleque to be lame (3/5) in the off-foreleg. Mr C. Duckworth, representing trainer Mr C. Waller, was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to Seleque being permitted to race or barrier trial again.

In Lighten Me – Began only fairly. Near the 800m was steadied when crowded between Incredulous Dream and Onthetake which, after being taken in slightly by Seleque, shifted in and away from that runner. K. McEvoy, the rider of Seleque, was advised to exercise more care.

Onthetake – A post-race veterinary examination revealed Onthetake to have a laceration to the off-hind coronary band and to be lame (2/5) in the off-hind leg. Trainer Mr D. Gorrel was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to Onthetake being permitted to race or barrier trial again.

RACE 6: PFD Food Services Midway Benchmark 72 Handicap 1400m:

App. Ryan's permit to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday 28 November 2021 and expire on Thursday 9 December 2021, on which day he may ride. Rider K. McEvoy stated that, whilst Atishu has established form on rain-affected going, he was of the opinion that the mare did not handle today's soft track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up on the post-race condition of Atishu in the days subsequent.

Monegal – When questioned regarding his riding and as to whether there was an opportunity to hold a position behind the leader, Oxford Tycoon, App. B. Ryan stated that his preferred position was behind the leaders. When Maid Of Ore went forward and the pace of the event increased near the 1200m he was of the opinion that he would have to make some use of Monegal to hold that position. He said that as a result, and bearing in mind the shifting soft track conditions, he preferred to keep his mount on the bit and balanced to provide it with the best opportunity to finish the race off. He added that, on straightening, he endeavoured to improve between Maid Of Ore and Zegalo, but when both of those runners shifted slightly he was disappointed for this run and was steadied and shifted to the outside of Zegalo whereby he secured clear running near the 300m.
