___________

RACE 1: Canadian Club 3&4YO Benchmark 72 Handicap 1500m:

Wairere Falls – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped Bigboyroy. Wairere Falls was then shifted behind runners in the early stages from its wide barrier.

Atlantic King – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. When asked to explain the disappointing performance, rider J. Collett stated that the gelding travelled only fairly during the early and middle stages and did not accelerate as expected in the early part of the straight, however, closed the race off satisfactorily in his view. He further added that, in his opinion, Atlantic King would be advantaged by being stepped up in distance on a softer surface. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer Mr M. Dunn concurred with the views of J. Collett that the gelding was looking to be stepped up in distance, which he now intends to do. Mr Dunn undertook to report back if there was anything amiss with Atlantic King subsequent to the race. Mr Dunn was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding's record for proving difficult to load into the barriers.

Secretly Awesome – After beginning only fairly raced in restricted room for a short distance between Foxborough and Knight, which shifted out slightly. Secretly Awesome hung in under pressure in the home straight placing its rider at a disadvantage in fully testing the gelding.

Knight – Rider N. Rawiller reported that the gelding commenced to overrace approaching the 1200m and, rather than restrain Knight, he elected to improve and take up the lead position.

Don Luigi – Began awkwardly. When challenged for the lead by Knight leaving the 1200m commenced to overrace and continued to do so until obtaining a trailing position behind Knight passing the 900m.

RACE 2: TAB Highway Handicap 1600m:

Cryptic Jewel – After beginning only fairly was shifted behind runners in the early stages from its wide barrier. Rider R. Bayliss reported that, shortly after entering the home straight, his mount was taken wider by Diorissima and, having regard to the manner in which Cryptic Jewel was travelling at that stage, he elected to come back to the inside to improve. He added that Cryptic Jewel did not accelerate as expected in the early part of the home straight but closed the race off satisfactorily over the concluding stages.

Obelos – Began awkwardly. Near the 1500m had to be steadied when tightened for room between Eva's Deel, which shifted out slightly, and Tribbiani, which was taken in by Roc De Khaper.

King’s Trust – When asked for an explanation regarding the tactics adopted today, which resulted in the gelding racing in a prominent position, which is in contrast to its usual racing pattern, rider T. Berry stated that from a wide barrier he attempted to take a position closer to the running rail and, in doing so, was obliged to improve to clear runners to his inside. He added that when Roc De Khaper and Eva's Deel maintained their positions to his inside he was obliged to continue forward to secure a position closer to the running rail, which resulted in Kings Trust taking up a position on the speed. T. Berry stated that this was not his intention and he believed that the poor performance of the gelding could be attributed to having to race in a handy position at a genuine tempo up to the distance of 1600 metres. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Activation – After being slow to begin then shifted out and was steadied from the heels of Roc De Khaper. Activation then was shifted behind runners from its wide barrier. When asked about his riding of the gelding in the home straight, rider N. Rawiller stated that he was held up on entering the home straight and he brought Activation away from the running rail with a view to trailing the favoured runner King's Trust. He added that inside the 300m King's Trust commenced to tire and he then became awkwardly placed on the heels of that runner and to the inside of All Over Magic. He further stated that, whilst a run had developed to the outside of All Over Magic passing the 200m, he was unable to make use of that run as he was positioned to the inside of the heels of All Over Magic. He added that he was then held up for clear running until leaving the 100m when he was able to secure a run to the inside of All Over Magic when King's Trust tired back to his inside.

Dinner Lake – Began awkwardly and, shortly after, was hampered by Zarafah, which shifted out. Dinner Lake then was shifted behind runners in the early stages from its wide barrier. Dinner Lake raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

Eva’s Deel – Began only fairly. Held up and unable to secure clear running from entering the home straight until passing the 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed Eva's Deel to be slow to recover.

Boom And Zoom – For some distance near the 1200m raced in restricted room to the inside of Globalize.

Roc De Khaper – Overraced in the early and middle stages. Near the 150m shifted out after being struck with the whip and had to be corrected by its rider.

Zarafah – On jumping, shifted out and made contact with Dinner Lake. Zarafah was then shifted behind runners in the early stages from its wide barrier.

Diorissima – Began very awkwardly and lost ground (3L). Hung in when placed under pressure in the home straight.

Refire – Leaving the 300m was disappointed for a run between Tribbiani and Departing Bullet and had to be steadied. Refire was then held up for clear running over the final 100 metres and was unable to be tested by its rider.

Tribbiani – For some distance approaching and passing the 1100m had a tendency to lay in and away from Departing Bullet.

Departing Bullet – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

RACE 3: I98’s Marty, Crammy and Lyndal Benchmark 78 Handicap 2000m:

Bebeautiful – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame (2/5) in the near foreleg. Trainer Mr C. Waller was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to Bebeautiful being permitted to race or trial again.

Chains Of Honour – Stood flatfooted as the start was effected and lost ground (5L). Co-trainer Mr G. Ryan was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding's barrier manners.

Skymax – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Raced wide and without cover until the 1200m.

Sound Of Cannons – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Overraced in the early stages.

White Boots – Leaving the 600m had to be steadied when tightened for room by Stockman, which shifted in.

Accountability – Rider J. McDonald lodged a protest against Relucent being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference near the 200m. After taking evidence from the rider of the 2nd placegetter J. McDonald, the rider of the 1st placed Relucent N. Rawiller, and stable representative for both runners Mr C. Duckworth, Stewards established that near the 200m a run developed between Relucent and Significance, which a short distance later was secured by Accountability. Relucent then shifted in resulting in Accountability having to be checked and shifted to the outside of that runner. Having regard to the interference suffered to Accountability due to Relucent shifting in, the margin between Relucent and Accountability at the finish and the manner in which both horses finished the race off, Stewards were satisfied that had the interference not occurred Accountability would have beaten Relucent to the finish line and they therefore upheld the protest. The placings were amended to: 1st Accountability; 2nd Relucent; 3rd Karmazone. At a subsequent inquiry N. Rawiller was reprimanded. Accountability was held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.

Karmazone – Shortly after the start had to be checked when tightened for room between Navy Cross and Stockman, which was taken in by Kirwan's Lane. Leaving the 700m Karmazone was bumped by White Boots, which shifted in and away from Stockman. Karmazone had difficulty securing clear running in the early part of the home straight.

RACE 4: Evergreen Turf Australia Benchmark 78 Handicap 1000m:

Broken Arrows – Shifted behind runners in the early stages. Between the 200m and the 100m was bumped on several occasions by Brazenpine, which shifted out when under pressure.

Mansa Musa – Began only fairly. A short distance after the start had to be steadied when tightened for room between Broken Arrows, which was taken out by Hulk, and Iconic Star, which shifted in.

Goldfinch – Jumped in at the start and made contact with Miss Invincible.

Destination – Began awkwardly. When asked for an explanation about the disappointing performance, rider H. Bowman stated that he was not entirely satisfied with the colt's action over the concluding stages and believed that this was the principal reason for its failure to close the race off as expected. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Stable representative Mr P. Reid stated that in his view Destination raced like a horse that had come to the end of its preparation. Mr Reid undertook to report back on the post-race condition and immediate race plans for the colt in the days subsequent.

Brazenpine – Slow to begin.

Our Bellagio Miss – Blundered near the 900m. Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

RACE 5: Abax Contracting CG&E Benchmark 78 Handicap 1200m:

Pandemic – When asked for an explanation regarding his riding of the gelding in the early stages and whether there was an opportunity to continue forward after beginning well and take up a position closer to the running rail, App. T. Sherry stated that he was instructed to ride the gelding consistent with its normal racing pattern in a midfield position and, whilst Pandemic did begin well and showed good speed, he was conscious of the stable's instructions, and when Mo's Crown held a position to the immediate inside of Pandemic he decided to restrain the gelding and endeavour to obtain cover in compliance with his instructions. After considering his explanation, Stewards informed App. Sherry that in their view he should have shown more initiative in the early stages and allowed Pandemic to improve forward and clear runners to his inside rather than restrain the gelding and be left racing wide and without cover. Having regard to the instructions issued and the relative inexperience of App. Sherry, Stewards believed his actions in the circumstances were reasonable.

Stephan – Began only fairly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed Stephan to be displaying cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer Mr G. Vella was advised that a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, will be required prior to Stephan having to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again.

Golly I’m Lucky – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Hung in under pressure in the home straight.

Safado – Approaching the 900m had to be steadied when tightened for room by Sneak Preview, which was taken in momentarily by Pandemic.

Ghostly – Stewards permitted N. Rawiller to ride the gelding ½ kilogram over its allotted weight of 55½ kilograms.

Sneak Preview – Had difficulty securing clear running over the concluding stages.

Whisky’n’Diamonds – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

RACE 6: Traffic Logistics F&M Benchmark 78 Handicap 1200m:

Helga – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

Dunbrody Power – Began awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with the hindquarters of Tochi. Dunbrody Power was then shifted behind runners in the early stages from its wide barrier. Passing the 1000m had to be steadied from the heels of Tochi (App. B. Ryan), which shifted in when not clear. App. B. Ryan was reprimanded and advised to allow sufficient racing room for his fellow riders. Dunbrody Power raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

In Lighten Me – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Macroura – On jumping, made contact with the offside barrier partition and became unbalanced. Leaving the 200m had to be steadied and shifted to the outside of Intrepidacious to secure clear running.

Miss Redoble – Slow to begin (3L).

Stolen Jade – Overraced in the early and middle stages and near the 900m had to be steadied from the heels of Intrepidacious (R. King), which shifted in when not quite clear. R. King was advised to allow sufficient racing room for her fellow riders.

Macushla – Began awkwardly, shifted in and made contact with Turnstyle.

Riva Capri – Slow to begin.

RACE 7: The Gong 1600m:

Mister Sea Wolf – Began only fairly. Held up for clear running until passing the 200m and had a tendency to hang in under pressure over the concluding stages.

Olmedo – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the entire to be lame (2/5) in the off hind leg. Trainer Mr C. Waller was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to Olmedo being permitted to race or barrier trial again.

Cascadian – After being slow to begin was then hampered by Best Of Days, which shifted in. Leaving the 400m, when being shifted to the outside of the heels of Reloaded, became awkwardly placed on that runner's heels and had to be steadied.

Rock – When asked about the disappointing performance, rider T. Berry informed Stewards that in his view the horse raced flat today. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Co-trainer Mr M. Hawkes agreed with T. Berry that the gelding raced flat today and he undertook to report back in the days subsequent on the post-race condition and immediate race plans for Rock.

Best Of Days – Began awkwardly, shifted in and hampered Cascadian.

Brandenburg – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Overraced in the early and middle stages and leaving the 1200m had to be restrained from the heels of Rock.

Think It Over – Approaching the 1500m had to be steadied when tightened for room between Asiago and Purple Sector, which after being taken out by Dawn Passage continued to shift out. Think It Over raced wide and without cover after the 900m. When asked if there was an opportunity to secure a one-off position trailing Dawn Passage in the early stages, rider B. Avdulla explained that he positioned Think It Over to the outside of the heels  of Dawn Passage in the early stages as he was of the view that Purple Sector, which was working forward to the lead, would dictate Dawn Passage across to the running rail and he would then maintain a one-off position to the outside of Dawn Passage. He added that when this did not occur and Reloaded improved to his inside, he was left racing three-wide without cover. After considering his explanation the Stewards determined B. Avdulla's riding to be reasonable in the circumstances.

Nettoyer – After being slow to begin was shifted behind runners in the early stages from its wide barrier. Trainer Ms W. Roche advised Stewards that the mare had blood present in its offside nostril following the event. Ms Roche advised that Nettoyer will now be spelled. Notwithstanding this advice, Ms Roche was advised that Nettoyer will be required to gallop or trial over 1000 metres to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.

Positive Peace – Knuckled very badly on jumping.

Reloaded – Began only fairly. Overraced in the middle stages

Asiago – Raced wide and without cover until the 800m.

RACE 8: Polytrack Benchmark 88 Handicap 1600m:

Soldier Of Love – Bumped on jumping.

Radipole – Held up on the heels of Ulusaba and near the 300m had to be checked when disappointed for a run to the inside of that horse. Radipole was then held up to the inside of the heels of Ulusaba and was unable to be fully tested for the remainder of the event.

Monegal – Prior to the declaration of correct weight, the Stewards identified from the inquiry room that App. B. Ryan had struck his mount on 10 occasions prior to the 100m. When Stewards could not be satisfied that Monegal had gained an advantage that resulted in it winning the race, in accordance with AR221(2) they therefore declined to exercise their powers under AR132(10) and did not proceed with a formal protest. At a subsequent inquiry, App. Ryan pleaded guilty to a charge under AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used the whip on 10 occasions prior to the 100m, five more than is permitted. App. Ryan's permit to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Sunday 29 November 2020 and to expire on Sunday 6 December 2020, on which day he may ride.

Greek Hero – Slow to begin and, shortly afterwards, was hampered by Misteed, which shifted in. Greek Hero blundered at the 900m and the 700m. Stewards opened an inquiry into N. Rawiller's handling of Greek Hero and, in particular, the tactics adopted soon after the start and in the home straight. After taking evidence from N. Rawiller and Co-trainer Mr R. Freedman, the inquiry was adjourned to a time and date to be fixed. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
