Godolphin weekend runners update

Godolphin trainer's James Cummings and Sam Freedman comment on their stable's runners at Flemington and Randwick on Saturday.

Race 5 - CS Hayes Stakes-Group 3  (3yoCG SWP)       (1400m)

CHENIER (AUS) - 3yo Colt by Medaglia d'Oro (USA) out of Zydeco (AUS) – Sam Freedman
“Even though he won impressively on debut, he’s still raw and learning.”
“He’s had a long time off and he’s received a good grounding, including a trip to Sydney for last week’s race that didn’t go ahead.”
“We’re throwing him in at the deep end a bit, but we’ll be keen to see how he runs.”

Race 8 - The Vanity-Group 3  (3yoF SWP)       (1400m)

KATALIN (AUS) - 3yo Filly by Medaglia d'Oro (USA) out of Kanzan (AUS)
“Two impressive wins from two outings has earnt this filly a trip south and a crack at Black Type in this G3 event.”

Race 4 -  Lonhro Plate-Listed   (2yo SWP)       (1000m)

DESTINATION (AUS) - 2yo Colt by Exceed And Excel (AUS) out of Heaven (AUS)
“He’ll enjoy a slick 1,000m, but we have to be conscious of what is likely to be a very heavy track.”
“He’s a quick two-year-old but an unknown quantity on this sort of going.”

Race 5 -  Southern Cross Stakes-Group 3  (Qlty)       (1200m)

CASCADIAN (GB) - 5yo Gelding by New Approach (IRE) out of Falls of Lora (IRE)
“He might have finally acclimatised.”
“At his last run he stepped up to G1 company at the mile and he’s won on soft tracks in France.”

Race 7 - Light Fingers Stakes-Group 2   (3yoF SW)       (1200m)

FLIT (AUS) - 3yo Filly by Medaglia d'Oro (USA) out of Glissade (AUS)
“She might just be a tougher filly this time around.”
“She’ll certainly be better for this first-up run, but at the same time I wouldn’t be surprised if she could win.”
“Needless to say, she’s going to get better when she gets up to the mile.”

KIAMICHI (AUS) - 3yo Filly by Sidestep (AUS) out of Ouachita (AUS)
“The weather has forced us to postpone her return twice, so it will be good to finally get her back to the races.”
“She laid it all on the line last autumn and her preliminaries have been very strong.”
“Both her trials have been encouraging, she won the latest one in good style and she gets the going she prefers.”

LYRE (AUS) - 3yo Filly by Lonhro (AUS) out of Erato (AUS) – Sam Freedman
“She’s done very well and seems to be back to her old self.”
“She never looked great in the spring, her coat never really came through.”
“But she’s looking much better, her trials have been better and we’re looking forward to her showing her two-year-old form.”

Race 8 - Apollo Stakes-Group 2  (WFA)       (1400m)

ALIZEE (AUS) - 5yo Filly by Sepoy (AUS) out of Essaouira (AUS)
“She motored home stylishly in the Expressway behind a very promising three-year-old.”
“Since then she’s had a very sensible and straightforward build up.”
“At this stage it doesn’t seem likely that she’ll get the track she prefers at Randwick and might be kept for the Futurity.”

Race 9 - Triscay Stakes-Group 3  (4yo+ Mares Qlty)       (1200m)

POHUTUKAWA (AUS) - 4yo Filly by Medaglia d'Oro (USA) out of Lumina (AUS)
“I’d say she should be set to run a forward race first-up after having been given a solid foundation.”
“She’s capable of building into a nice campaign.”

RESIN (AUS) - 5yo Filly by Exceed And Excel (AUS) out of Beaded (AUS)
“She’s as strong as a bull and she’s going to relish the going.”
