Godolphin weekend runners update

Godolphin's trainer James Cummings comments on the stable's runners at Caulfield and Randwick on Saturday.

Race 3 -  Thoroughbred Club Stakes-Group 3  (3yoF SWP)       (1200m)

ATHIRI (AUS) - 3yo Filly by Lonhro (AUS) out of Retsina (AUS)
“She ran an excellent race in the Cap D’Antibes and has worked well in preparation for this Group 3 event.”
“The opposition here is appropriately strong, but she’s always been capable of mixing it with the best fillies.”

Race 4 - Northwood Plume Stakes-Group 2  (4yo+ Mares SWP)       (1200m)

MANICURE (AUS) - 5yo Filly by Exceed And Excel (AUS) out of Trim (AUS)
“She has continued to please after a strong first-up performance at this track. She races particularly well in the early stages of her campaign and it would be no surprise to see her give this Group 3 event a real shake.”

RESIN (AUS) - 5yo Filly by Exceed And Excel (AUS) out of Beaded (AUS)

“Both Demerara and Resin failed to flatter in the Bobbie Lewis.”
“But they’ve have had their runs nicely spaced and they should find this race one they can improve in.”

DEMERARA (AUS) - 5yo Filly by Commands (AUS) out of Rum Cruise (AUS)

“Both Demerara and Resin failed to flatter in the Bobbie Lewis.”
“But they’ve have had their runs nicely spaced and they should find this race one they can improve in.”

Race 6 - Schweppes Thousand Guineas-Group 1  (3yoF SW)       (1600m)

FLIT (AUS) - 3yo Filly by Medaglia d'Oro (USA) out of Glissade (AUS)
“Everything has gone smoothly since the Prelude and in hindsight the run she had appears to have topped her off perfectly.”
“Some thought was given about running her against the colts, but we feel good about the decision to take this path.”

TENLEY (AUS) - 3yo Filly by Medaglia d'Oro (USA) out of Fratianne (AUS)
“As with Flit, consideration was given to running her in the Guineas against the colts but we’ve decided to take the more conservative, rational approach.”
“We feel this is the correct way to go as there are more Group races on her schedule.”

LYRE (AUS) - 3yo Filly by Lonhro (AUS) out of Erato (AUS) - Anthony Freedman
“This is the trip she’s been looking for.”
“Even in her first run back at 1,200m she looked like she needed 1,400m, now the 1,600m looks ideal for her.”
“She comes into the race as the only G1 winner in the field - and she won it at Caulfield.”
“We feel she has improved with every run, she has a good gate - in a relatively small field she has a lot going for her.”

Race 7 - Ladbrokes Stakes-Group 1  (WFA)       (2000m)

AVILIUS (GB) - 5yo Gelding by Pivotal (GB) out of Alessandria (GB)
“He’s done particularly well since winning at Randwick and we are looking forward to seeing him over a journey where he is more adept.”
“His wet track form is exceptional, but he is no stranger to a dry track and has won a couple of times at Caulfield.”
“The horse galloped beautifully at Caulfield on Tuesday morning.”

Race 8 - Ladbrokes Caulfield Guineas-Group 1  (3yo SW)       (1600m)

SUBEDAR (AUS) - 3yo Gelding by Sepoy (AUS) out of Virage de Fortune (AUS)
“The Gloaming was his chance to let us know if he could get a longer trip.”
“Without disappointing, his ability to stay remains inconclusive, so we are comfortable to keep him to the mile here rather than take him to the Spring Champion Stakes.”

Race 10 - Schillaci Stakes-Group 2  (WFA)       (1100m)

TREKKING (AUS) - 5yo Gelding by Street Cry (IRE) out of Outdoor (AUS)
“He’s still in The Everest picture, but we’ll take aim at the Schillaci first, see what happens and take it from there.”
“His run in the Moir was excellent. He finished eighth but was just over a length and a half from the winner and was finishing off beautifully.”
“This looks an ideal race for Trekking on the way to the Manikato, should we take that option.”
VIRIDINE (AUS) - 5yo Gelding by Poet's Voice (GB) out of Patina (AUS)
“I’m pretty happy with this fellow. He’s done well since the Moir and has a definite chance.”

Race 5 - Roman Consul Stakes-Group 2  (3yo SW)       (1200m)

MICROPHONE (AUS) - 3yo Colt by Exceed And Excel (AUS) out of Sung (AUS)
“We kept him back purposely to target set weights events.”
“From his first start he kept on improving and across the board was probably our best performed juvenile. In the past three weeks he’s come to hand beautifully.”
“He’s going really well.”

Race 6 - Angst Stakes-Group 3  (4yo+ Mares SWP)       (1600m)

ORGANZA (AUS) - 5yo Filly by Street Cry (IRE) out of Mousseline (AUS)
“She’s racing well without threatening, continues to work with enthusiasm, and gets back out to 1,600m here.”
“She raced well over this trip at Flemington last preparation and we’re looking for improvement.”
