Chris Waller’s Adelaide filly Funstar is the dominant $1.75 favourite with TAB’s opening market for the $500,000, Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) for three-year-old fillies at Rosehill on Saturday.
The Group 1 Flight Stakes winner is one of a field of 13 as she looks to step up to the 2000m for the first time.
On the next line of the market is Jamie Richard’s Probabeel (NZ) at $4.00 and she also well clear of Subpoenaed out at $13.00 with the rest $13.00 and over.
Funstar and Probabeel will resume their challenges if the latter starts. In the Flight Stakes at Randwick in the spring Funstar defeated Probabeel (NZ) by 3 1/4L. The next time they met was in the Group 1 Surround Stakes over 1400m at Randwick on February 29th and Probabeel reversed the result with a neck margin.
Then Funstar under James McDonald took matters over again in the Group 2 Phar Lap Stakes over 1500m at Rosehill on March 14th leading for the trip and winning over adversary with a 1 1/4L margin and never looking like being beaten.
On Saturday Funstar has barrier eight for McDonald, Probabeel barrier six for Kerrin McEvoy and Subpoenaed barrier five for Tommy Berry.
The Vinery Stud Stakes is Race 7 at 4.30pm.
The nine race programme commences at 12.30pm with a field of 12 for the $125,000, Ranvet Bm 88 Handicap (1400m).
