Friday night’s feature at The Valley, the $200,000, Group 2 WFA Australia Stakes (1200m), has attracted just five nominations on Monday with nominations extended through to Tuesday. Prize money of $4,000 extends through to eighth place.
Those nominated are Arcadia Prince, Isaurian, Streets of Avalon, Tavisan (NZ) and Widgee Turf. Streets Of Avalon is the highest rated nomination with his last win the 2020 Group 1 Futurity Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield last February. The Shane Nichols trained six-year-old Magnus gelding last raced when fourth in the Group 3 Heffernan Stakes over 1300m at Sandown on November 14th.
Godolphin’s Isaurian was third to stablemate Roheryn in the listed Falvelon Stakes over 1200m at Eagle Farm on December 26th, a race that the six-year-old Exceed And Excel gelding won in 2019. Lightly raced he has won six of his 16 starts and placed in a further six earning stakes of $584,399 for the stable.
Not surprisingly TAB have installed Isaurian as the $1.50 favourite with Streets Of Avalon next out at $6.00.
Overall the eight race programme received 234 nomination.
The track is rated a Good 4 on Monday and the rail will be in the True position for the entire circuit.
Melbourne’s weather this week will be mostly sunny with temperatures from 19c on Tuesday to 32c on Thursday, 27c on Friday and 29c on Saturday for the Sandown-Hillside meeting
