Field of 11 for the Golden Pendant

A field of 11 accepted for the fillies and mares feature of the $400,000, Group 2 Keeneland Golden Pendant (1400m) at Rosehill on Saturday with the Jamie Richards trained Entriviere (NZ) the $2.30 TAB favourite.

Entriviere under James McDonald won the Group 2 Sheraco Stakes over 1200m at Kembla Grange on September 11th in the five-year-old Tavistock mare’s first start of the spring with a comfortable 1 1/4L margin.  On Saturday McDonald rides with barrier 12 and 56kg.

Fourth in the Sheraco Stakes was the Waterhouse and Bott trained four-year-old Vancouver mare Vangelic. With 54kg and barrier one for Tim Clark she is on the second line of the market at $6.00, ahead of John Thompson’s five-year-old Deep Field mare Fituese at $7.50 who was second in the Sheraco after closing from being 11th at the 400m. Hugh Bowman rides with 55kg and barrier four.

Third in the Sheraco Stakes was the Snowden trained four-year-old Dream Ahead mare Marboosha and she has barrier three with 55kg under Sam Clipperton. The market has her out at $16.00.  Top-weight with 58kg is the Freedman Bros’ trained Forbidden Love, at $8.50, who was seventh at Kembla Grange. Nash Rawiller rides with barrier six.

The Golden Pendant is Race 7 at 3.25pm.

Race 4 at 1.40pm is the $160,000, Group 3 Drinkwise Colin Stephen Quality with a field of 12, followed by the Listed Petaluma Heritage Stakes (1100m) for three-year-old’s with a field of 12 as Race 5 at 2.15pm. Next comes the $200,000, Group 2 Ned Whisky Shannon Stakes (1500m) with a  field of 10 at 2.50pm.

The Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) is Race 8 at 4.05pm and the $200,000, Group 3 ACY Securities Gloaming Stakes (1800m) for three-year-old’s with a field of 14 as Race 9 at 4.45pm completes the black type races.

The ten race programme, with 132 acceptances, commences at 11.55am with a field of nine for the $130,000, Precise Air Bm88 Handicap (1900m)

The track is rated a Good 4 on Wednesday and the rail is in the True position for the entire circuit. This is the first meeting at Rosehill since the since the Winter Challenge programme on July 24th.

Rosehill’s weather leading into Saturday is for sunny days with 25c on Thursday, 27c Friday and 11c to 27c on Saturday.
