Following the abandonment of the last four races at The Valley’s Saturday August 22 race meeting, the Moonee Valley Racing Club (MVRC) has worked alongside Racing Victoria (RV) in reprogramming the Listed McMahon’s Dairy McKenzie Stakes (1200m) and Listed Fiorente @ Sun Stud Carlyon Stakes (1000m) to Saturday November 28 at The Valley.
While both races traditionally act as key lead-up races to the Victoria Spring Racing Carnival, they will now take place at the end of the Carnival and are expected to be a main target for many connections.
“While it was disappointing not being able to run two of the Club’s black-type races on Saturday August 22 due to the abandonment, the MVRC was very keen to conduct these races in an appropriate place in the racing calendar,” said Michael Browell, MVRC CEO.
“Working with Racing Victoria, it was decided November 28 is the best opportunity for both races to be run and they would not only fill a void in the program but be appropriate targets for trainers and their horses,” Browell explained.
Both races will maintain their prizemoney levels of $140,000.
As a result, the November 28 program at The Valley will now proceed with the following card of races:
|Super Vobis Two-Years-Old Plate||1000 metres|
