Jamie Kah underwent a medical examination on arrival and was passed fit.
Race 1 SHARP EIT HANDICAP - 1800 metres:
Mr French Slow to begin. Shortly after the start was crowded between Letsrollthedice and Saint Bathans, both of which shifted ground slightly.
Saint Bathans Raced keenly getting its head up when being restrained to gain cover in the early stages. Continued to race keenly in the middle stages. Rider Craig Newitt reported he had been instructed to be positive on the gelding however to settle with cover if pressured for the lead. He added after beginning well he was of the view that Letsrollthedice and Ulysses, which were to his outside, were looking to roll forward and elected to obtain a position with cover as a result. He reported in hindsight, he may have been better served maintaining the lead in the early stages. Stewards confirmed the instructions with the Forsman stable and further agreed with C Newitts assessment that he should have maintained the lead.
Dunkel (NZ) Laid in under pressure in the straight.
Ulysses From the 200m until approaching the 100m raced in restricted room to the inside of Dunkel, which was laying in.
Race 2 MRC FOUNDATION HANDICAP - 1400 metres:
Imperial Lad Raced keenly in the early stages after obtaining the lead.
First Mate Steadied outwards passing the 300m to obtain clear running near the 200m.
Meridius Held up for clear running over the concluding stages.
Treporti Performed below market expectations. Apprentice Carleen Hefel could offer no explanation for the performance, however added, the gelding may be better suited with the re-application of blinkers to its gear. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality other than a minor wound to the right hind heel.
Race 3 BRAVO DAMIEN OLIVER - 1600 metres:
Paperboy Change of tactics To be ridden further back from the wide barrier. Got its head up on jumping away and settled towards the rear of the field. Held up from approaching the 300m until shifting out to obtain clear running approaching the 200m.
Divine Purpose Slow to begin before being restrained from the wide barrier in the early stages. Passing the 200m attempted to obtain clear running to the inside of Rhinoceros, where there was not full running and as a result raced in restricted room to the inside of that gelding until near the 100m. Apprentice Carleen Hefel was advised to ensure there is full running when attempting to obtain a position in future.
Mr Mojo Risin Raced three wide without cover for the majority of the event. Performed below market expectations. Rider Jamie Kah reported the gelding was agitated pre-race and after being slow to begin was then obliged to race wide, which was detrimental to its chances. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
Tobaysure Had difficulty obtaining clear running from approaching the 300m until near the 200m.
Maracana (NZ) Raced four wide without cover for the majority of the event. When weakening approaching the 400m, taken out off its course by Place Of Gold, which shifted out to improve. Performed below market expectations. Post-race endoscopy detected a degree of internal exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage that may have affected the horses racing performance. A veterinary clearance is required prior to being permitted to race again.
Race 4 MANHARI METALS THOROUGHBRED CLUB STAKES - 1200 metres:
Prior to Correct Weight rider Jordan Childs and connections of second placegetter Miraval Rose, viewed the photo finish before agreeing with the Judges decision.
De Sonic Boom Slow to begin before then being hampered by Material Dreams, which shifted in. Passing the 1000m was carried out by Material Dreams, which had been eased at this stage and as a result De Sonic Boom made contact with the hindquarters of Hearcomesthestar turning that filly in. As a consequence, De Sonic Boom raced in restricted room to the inside of Herecomesthestar before being steadied shortly after.
Atlantic Spirit Slow to begin.
Saltaire Commenced awkwardly. Near the 1000m shifted in before then being steadied out when close to the heels of Lovazou. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
Lovazou Over raced in the early stages getting its head up on several occasions passing the 1000m.
Commemorative After passing the 1000m was brushed and taken in by Saltaire (Blake Shinn), which shifted in before being straightened. B Shinn was notified to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Shortly after, Commemorative commenced to over race for some distance.
Material Dreams Near the 900m was brushed and taken in by Commemorative, which was continuing to over race. Then over raced for some distance.
Hearcomesthestar Passing the 1000m was bumped on the hindquarters by De Sonic Boom.
Race 5 NEDS VILLAGE STAKES - 1100 metres:
Extremely Lucky Slow to begin. Steadied out passing the 200m to obtain clear running.
Fasuto Slow to begin.
Prowling Commenced awkwardly.
Indian Pacific Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event. Performed below market expectations. Rider Damien Oliver could offer no explanation for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
Outlaws Revenge Commenced to lose ground from the700m and was eased from the event passing the 600m. Rider Dean Yendall reported he felt there may something amiss with the gelding so he elected to ease it down. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the right hind. A veterinary clearance is required prior to being permitted to race again.
Sghirripa Laid in under pressure in the straight.
Rattle And Bang Held up from approaching the 300m until passing the 200m. Over the concluding stages raced in restricted room to the inside of Sghirripa.
Zac De Boss (NZ) Held up for clear running from approaching the 300m until near the 100m.
Race 6 CATANACHS JEWELLERS BLUE SAPPHIRE STAKES - 1400 metres:
The start of the race was delayed approximately three minutes due to Sunset Dreaming having to be re-plated.
Sunset Dreaming Re-plated behind the barriers after pulling the near fore shoe. Underwent a veterinary examination and was passed suitable to race. Slow to begin.
Eugenius Commenced awkwardly, making contact with The Instructor and as a result was slow to muster early speed. Near the 1100m was restrained to avoid the heels of Sunset Dreaming (Harry Coffey), which shifted in before being straightened. H Coffey was severely reprimanded and notified to exercise more care.
Treasurway Commenced awkwardly.
Riverina Power On jumping away bumped on the hindquarters by Treasurway, which had commenced awkwardly.
Snapback - Eased down over the final 100m. Rider James MacDonald reported his mount made an abnormal respiratory noise. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality other than the colt lost the right hind plate. Stewards will follow up with the stable.
The Instructor - Eased down over the final 100m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt was suffering a throat abnormality. A veterinary clearance is required prior to being permitted to race again.
Race 7 SCHWEPPES THOUSAND GUINEAS - 1600 metres:
Joliestar Change of tactics - Attempt to be ridden more forward. Settled behind the leaders.
Zourion (NZ) Commenced awkwardly, making contact with Ersa. When questioned as to the filly leading in todays event, rider Michael Dee reported that it was the intention to be positive, however when wide early he elected to stride forward to the lead, which was closer than he anticipated.
Ersa Bumped on jumping away.
Carina Queen Commenced awkwardly, making contact with Apache Song.
Apache Song Bumped on jumping away. Eased down from the 300m. Rider Zac Spain reported the filly hung out throughout and in his opinion, may be better suited on tracks with more give. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
Skybird Slow to begin.
Quickster Lost its running when restrained near the 1300m to avoid the heels of Kimochi, which in turn had been taken in by Ennas Dream (Jake Noonan), which shifted in.
Ennas Dream Lay out in the straight and near the 250m became unbalanced when bumping with Arctic Glamour. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly had sustained a superficial laceration to the right hind after being galloped on.
Race 8 NEDS SIR SUPERT CLARKE STAKES - 1400 metres:
Munhamek (GB) Slow to begin. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running approaching and passing the 200m.
Wrote To Arataki (NZ) Commenced awkwardly, shifted in and bumped with Skew Wiff. Lay in under pressure over the final 300m.
Skew Wiff (NZ) Hampered on jumping away between Wrote To Arataki and Chain Of Lightning.
Chain Of Lightning Jumped out at the start making contact with Skew Wiff. Rider Billy Egan reported the mare had commenced to weaken, however passing the 300m he felt it may have been galloped on and as Chain Of Lightning had lost its action he eased his mount down. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality. Stewards will follow up with the stable.
Crosshaven Commenced awkwardly. When making ground near the 150m improved onto the heels of General Beau and was restrained.
Magic Time Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
Ayrton (NZ) Held up for clear running approaching the 400m. Passing the 400m bumped with Bandersnatch before again being held up for a short distance behind the weakening Chain Of Lightning. Approaching the 100m was restrained when crowded for room between Vilana, which was taken out slightly by Strait Acer and Bandersnatch (Jordan Childs), which shifted in before being straightened. J Childs was severely reprimanded for initially permitting his mount to shift in.
Bandersnatch Passing the 400m was bumped on the hindquarters by Ayrton, which had shifted out.
Strait Acer Held up for clear running approaching and passing the 300m.
Vilana Near the 150m was brushed and taken out by Strait Acer, which shifted out. Passing the 100m was restrained out to avoid the heels of Strait Acer (Mark Zahra), which shifted out under pressure.
Buffalo River Eased down from the 100m. Apprentice Celine Gaudray reported from the wide barrier the gelding had to work hard to obtain a position outside the leader and further, as it failed to settle in the middle stages, her mount weakened as a result. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality other than the gelding lost the right fore plate.
Cause For Concern A post-race veterinary examination revealed mild forelimb soreness. A veterinary clearance is required prior to being permitted to race again.
Rider Mark Zahra (Strait Acer) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), in that passing the 100m he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of Vilana, which was tightened for room and hampered. M Zahra had his licence to ride in races suspended for a total of ten race meetings (3 metropolitan, 7 provincial), with the period to commence on Sunday 19 November 2023 and expire on Monday 27 November 2023. Accordingly, M Zahra will be able to return to ride on Tuesday 28 November 2023. In assessing penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, record, it was a Group 1 race and that the incident was in the mid-range.
Race 9 METCAP FINANCE VICTORIAN COUNTRY CUPS FINAL - 2000 metres:
Vardani (FR) Slow to begin.
Deepstrike (NZ) Slow to begin.
Brayden Star (GB) Over raced in the early stages having to be restrained off heels near the 1400m as a result. Performed below market expectations. Rider Damien Oliver reported his mount may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
Port Philip (IRE) Raced wide in the early stages before striding to settle outside the leader near the 1400m.
Starspangled Baby Raced keenly and wide in the early stages before striding to settle outside the leader near the 900m.
Bankers Choice (NZ) Near the 1300m was steadied to avoid the heels of Convener, which when racing keenly was steadied.
Captain Envious Near the 1300m was steadied to avoid the heels of Bankers Choice.
Claidheamh Mor Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
Harmysian (GB) Near the 1400m was steadied out to avoid the heels of Brayden Star, which when over racing, shifted out. Held up for clear running for a short distance approaching and passing the 250m.
Convener Raced keenly in the middle stages. Held up for clear running from near the 300m until passing the 100m.
Red Sun Sensation - Held up for clear running approaching and passing the 300m.
Race 10 NEDS HOW NOW STAKES - 1200 metres:
Fortunate Kiss Slow to begin.
Queen Of The Ball Performed below market expectations. Rider Damien Oliver could offer no explanation for the performance other than the mare may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality. Stable representative for trainer Michael Freedman advised the mare will now be spelled.
Ghaanati Rider Kerrin McEvoy was severely reprimanded for breaching the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(i) in that he used his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100 metres.

Trainer Ciaron Maher was found guilty of breaching the provisions of AR228(c) in that, during two telephone conversations with Jamie Stier, Racing Victoria Executive General Manager Integrity, following the conclusion of the Flemington race meeting on Saturday 11 November 2023, he used language that was improper and/or insulting. Ciaron Maher was fined $4,000.
