A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Declan Bates' licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence midnight 2 July 2022 and to expire midnight 12 July 2022, a total of 10 race meetings (2 metropolitan, 8 provincial). In assessing penalty, account was taken of his guilty plea, record and that the carelessness was in the mid-range.

Squid Game (NZ) Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival and was passed suitable to race. Slow to begin and was then hampered by Throw At Da Stumps which began awkwardly and shifted out. Became unbalanced passing the 200m when taking a narrow run between Throw At Da Stumps and Cadboll.

The General (NZ) Raced wide without cover. Laid in under pressure from the 200m. When questioned, apprentice Laura Lafferty advised she was given no specific instructions and after beginning well, she elected to race wide through the early and middle stages with the view of being able to cross the field prior to the home turn, however as the race progressed, she was unable to cross the field as intended due to the inside horses having held their ground. After viewing the patrol video with the Stewards, Ms Lafferty acknowledged that she had erred in not attempting to cross the field through the early stages when she had an opportunity to do so, which in her view would have better suited the gelding.

Zoltan (NZ) Held up for clear running from the 400m after committing behind Blaze A Trail, until shifting back to the inside of that horse passing the 300m.

Blaze A Trail When weakening near the 150m was steadied to avoid the heels of Skywolf which shifted in after initially being taken in by Curran, which was in turn taken in slightly by Designer Chef (A. Apprentice Will Price was notified to exercise more care when racing in similar circumstances in future and that he was not entitled to force runners off their course.

Daytona Bay Raced four wide without cover and overraced. Laid in under pressure in the straight. When questioned, rider Blaike McDougall advised that he settled further back than intended due to having begun only fairly and was then obliged to race wide with the slow tempo. He added that approaching the 600m he elected to shift in from a wide position to behind Cardinal Gem in an attempt to move into the race with cover, rather than having to be taken out and race wide around the home turn. He also reported that the gelding hung in in the home straight and in his opinion today's circumstances did not suit the gelding.

Arran Bay Raced wide without cover. When questioned, apprentice Alana Kelly advised she was instructed to ride the gelding where it would comfortably settle with cover. She explained that after being obliged to race wide through the early stages, she was unable to find cover and therefore settled further back than intended. Ms Kelly added that the gelding laid in under pressure in the straight and finished the race off well.

Oriental Legend Raced in restricted room over the concluding stages.
