Imperial Lad Bounded at the start.

Il Affare (NZ) Began awkwardly. When questioned rider Craig Williams explained that passing the 600 metres he was held up behind Good And Proper, which had been steadying. He then decided to follow Frankie Pinot into the race and was further held up before shifting to the inside for clear running.

I Am Vinnie Got its head up when being restrained near the 1100 metres.

Mr Money Bags Raced three wide without cover from the 1000 metres.

Minsk Moment Change of tactics To be ridden further back from wide barrier. Settled mid-field.

Port Louis Slow to begin. Disappointing. Rider Damien Oliver reported after being fractious in the barrier his mount was slow away and failed to run on in the straight. Stewards notified J Childs that he should have shown more endeavour to remain inside the running of Minsk Moment passing the 200 metres.

Race 7 SCHWEPPES THOUSAND GUINEAS - 1600 metres:

Prior to the declaration of correct weight Dean Holland (Fortunate Kiss), 5th placegetter, viewed the stewards' video before deciding not to lodge an objection.

Cuban Link Near the 300 metres when attempting to take a narrow run between Achira and Hinged, had to be severely checked when tightened for room due to Achira laying out and Hinged being taken in slightly by Literary Magnate, which was shifting in away from Elusive Express (NZ). This incident was compounded due to the hindquarter of Literary Magnate being turned out.

Heresy Severely checked passing the 450 metres and clipped the heels of Swift Witness, which was giving ground. Checked when hampered near the 300 metres when tightened for room. Steadied approaching the 300 metres when tightened for room between Swift Witness and Achira due to both horses shifting ground. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.

Fortunate Kiss Passing the 200 metres was tightened for room after obtaining a narrow run between Bons A Pearla and Barb Raider (Craig Williams), which after laying in behind Queen Of Dubai then shifted out when being corrected. Stewards accepted that Barb Raider was laying in and therefore took no further action other than to notify Craig Williams to exercise care.

Swift Witness Tightened and hampered near the 300 metres. Rider Michael Dee reported the filly may be feeling the effects of recent racing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

Zouzarella Approaching the 300 metres was disappointed for a run between Queen Of Dubai and Elusive Express. Rider Brett Prebble reported the filly did not settle well and failed to finish the race. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.

Jason Maskiell (Bons A Pearla) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provision of AR131(a), the careless riding being that near the 300 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of Achira resulting in that filly being taken in off its course and contributing to the tightening of Heresy and Swift Witness, which were both hampered. J Maskiell had his licence to ride in races suspended for a total of eight meetings to commence midnight 16 October, 2021 and to expire 23 October, 2021 (2 metro, 6 provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards were of the view that the incident qualified for the mid-range category of carelessness and took into account his guilty plea, record and that there was a contribution to the interference from the inside (see Dean Holland charge).

Dean Holland (Fortunate Kiss) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provision of AR131(a), the careless riding being that near the 300 metres he permitted his mount to shift out to obtain a run where there was insufficient room between Barb Raider and Achira which resulted in him contributing to the tightening of Achira and Barb Raider which were racing to his outside. D Holland had his licence to ride in races suspended for a total of eight meetings to commence midnight 22 October, 2021 and to expire 29 October, 2021 (1 metro, 7 provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards were of the view that the incident qualified for the mid-range category of carelessness and took into account his guilty plea, record and that there was a contribution to the interference from the outside (see Jason Maskiell charge).

Maid Of Iron Near the 900 metres was hampered when taken out off its course by Starelle, which was making ground onto the heels of Miss Guggenheim. Hung in from the 350 metres proving difficult for rider Damien Oliver.
