Race 1 MAGIC MILLIONS DEBUTANT STAKES - 1000 metres:

Immortality Began awkwardly. Got its head up when racing keenly in the early stages. Held up for clear running from the 350 metres until shifting across heels passing the 200 metres.

Dubai Oak Began awkwardly. Disappointing. Rider Daniel Stackhouse could offer no explanation for the colts performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.

Commodity Began awkwardly. Raced three wide without cover.

Impel Began awkwardly and then knuckled. Near the 300 metres shifted out across the heels of Dubai Oak to obtain clear running to the inside of Taycan.

Taycan Slow to begin. Eased down over the concluding stages. Rider Brett Prebble reported the colt is better suited to tracks with more give. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.

Brereton Began awkwardly.

Magic Carpet Raced four wide without cover. Lay out from the 400 metres.

Mogulist Near the 300 metres became unbalanced when racing greenly in restricted room to the inside of Brereton, which lay in before being straightened.

Race 2 THE BIG SCREEN COMPANY WEEKEND HUSSLER - 1400 metres:

Galaxy Raider Raced three wide without cover.

Kahma Lass Passing the 300 metres, when laying in was then taken out by Riddle Me That, which shifted out slightly.

Mr Exclusive Weakened from the 250 metres. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.

So Si Bon Over the concluding stages raced close to the heels of Riddle Me That. Rider Luke Nolen reported in his opinion, the gelding is better suited on tracks with more give.

Riddle Me That When laying in passing the 100 metres was taken in off its course by Kahma Lass (Brett Prebble), which was shifting in before being straightened. B Prebble was severely reprimanded and notified to straighten his mounts sooner than he did on this occasion.

Race 3 NEDS VILLAGE STAKES - 1200 metres:

Lombardo Began awkwardly.

Age Of Chivalry (NZ) Slow to begin and then hampered by Wisdom Of Water, which jumped away awkwardly and shifted in.

Wisdom Of Water Began awkwardly and shifted in. Over raced in the middle stages. Weakened from the 300 metres. Rider Linda Meech reported she settled further forward than intended due to the horse racing keenly in a three wide position in the early stages. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.

War Correspondent Near the 200 metres, when giving ground was steadied before having to be eased to avoid the heels of Pandemic (Damien Oliver), which had been shifting out. D Oliver was reprimanded and notified to exercise more care. Rider Damien Thornton could offer no explanation for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Race 4 THOROUGHBRED CLUB STAKES - 1200 metres:

Dueastar Slow to begin. Over raced in the middle stages.

Star Waltz Began awkwardly. Held up for clear running from the 350 metres until the concluding stages.

Spinning Slow to begin. Held up for clear running from the 350 metres until passing the 100 metres.

Robodira - Held up from the 350 metres until passing the 150 metres.

Forever And A Day Steadied off the heels of All About Eve near the 400 metres. Tightened for room and checked near the 300 metres. Rider Daniel Moor reported after suffering interference he eased his mount out of the race. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Shihonka When questioned rider Jordan Childs explained that he was happy with the filly in running until passing the 600 metres when in his view Shihonka failed to extend and in the straight gave ground. He added that the filly felt normal on return to scale, and he was of the view the filly may appreciate a track with more give. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.

Daniel Stackhouse (Spinning) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provision of AR131(a), the careless riding being that near the 300 metres he rode his mount out when not sufficiently clear of Forever And A Day, resulting in that filly being tightened for room between Spinning and Seradess and having to be checked. D Stackhouse had his licence to ride in races suspended for a total of ten meetings to commence midnight 16 October, 2021 and to expire midnight 25 October, 2021 (2 metro, 8 provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards were of the view that the incident qualified for the mid-range category of carelessness and took into account his guilty plea and record.

Race 5 LEXUS SCHILLACI STAKES - 1100 metres:

Jigsaw Late scratching at 11.17am on veterinary advice after the colt was found to be suffering a skin condition.

September Run Passing the 800 metres was brushed in off its course by Shaquero.

Isaurian Approaching the 50 metres had to be steadied off the heels of Savatoxl, which was taken out by Dosh

Shaquero Disappointing. Rider Damien Thornton could offer no explanation for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.

Race 6 NEDS MIGHT AND POWER - 2000 metres:

Nickajack Cave (IRE) Late scratching at 1.33pm on veterinary advice after the gelding was found to be lame right foreleg. A veterinary clearance is required prior to being permitted to race again.

Zaaki (GB) Rider Craig Williams reported the gelding was disappointing and had every chance. He stated Zaaki raced keenly in the early stages and in his view will benefit from todays race. C Williams added Zaaki was not fully comfortable commencing the turn passing the 600 metres and was then out sprinted. He added that Zaaki had returned to scale feeling well. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality and a sample was taken for analysis. Trainer Annabel Neasham reported that after viewing the race she was of the view that the gelding raced keenly today and in her opinion, may have been suited better allowed to stride. She said, the gelding may not be suited around the Caulfield circuit and whilst she understood the track was firm today Zaaki has previously won on a firm track. A Neasham added that her Stable Foreman had reported Zaaki had pulled up well and she will be continuing with the geldings preparation. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Race 7 SENET NORTHWOOD PLUME STAKES - 1200 metres:

Tailleur Change of tactics Intention to be ridden more forward from the good barrier. Settled in a handy position, three wide.

Standoff Slow to begin.

La Mexicana Slow to begin.

Dirty Thoughts Rider Daniel Moor reported that it was his intention to settle just off the speed with cover, however, when the mare began awkwardly it was then his opinion that he would be caught wide, so he elected to retrain his mount.

Chassis Rider Michael Dee reported the mare would be better suited to tracks with more give. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.

Brooklyn Hustle When questioned regarding the tactics today, rider Craig Williams explained that he had no specific instructions other than to ride the mare where she felt comfortable. He added the slow tempo during the early stages did not suit the mare settling towards the rear of the field which contributed to him deciding to shift to the inside of runners passing the 1000 metres. He added that he had been hoping to get a run through the field from the 400 metres but was then unable to do so and went to the line not fully tested. Trainer Jason Warren confirmed the instructions and had expected the mare to settle at the rear of the field but was not expecting such a slow tempo and expressed disappointment that Brooklyn Hustle did not gain clear running throughout. Stewards further questioned Craig Williams as to the reason for him shifting to the inside behind runners during the early stages and whether he had an option to remain behind Dirty Thoughts before shifting in. C Williams explained that he could not have remained behind Dirty Thoughts as his mare had begun to race keenly and as such would have been racing on heels and having to restrain. He added that the slow tempo did not suit Brooklyn Hustle and that his intention has always been to settle back and make his run around the field, however, this did not eventuate due to the circumstances of the race.

Race 8 NEDS CAULFIELD GUINEAS - 1600 metres:

Artorius Slow to begin.

Riverplate (NZ) Slow to begin.

Mr Mozart Raced three wide without cover.

Giannis Near the 1500 metres had to be steadied off the heels of Zerelle, which shifted in before being straightened.

Tiger Of Malay Held up from the 350 metres before shifting out to gain clear running passing the 200 metres and then failed to run on.

Race 9 HYLAND RACE COLOURS TOORAK HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

Sierra Sue (NZ) Began awkwardly. Distant last, eased down. Rider Daniel Moor reported the mare would be better suited to tracks with more give. An irregular heart rhythm was detected on post-race veterinary examination. Sierra Sue shall not start in any race until the Stewards have received a satisfactory veterinary report. The report must include the results of an ECG performed at rest and cardiac auscultation performed within 30 minutes of completing a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000 metres.

Quantum Mechanic Slow to begin. Restrained near the 200 metres and shifted out across heels to find clear running.

Im Thunderstruck Got its head up when being restrained passing the 1100 metres when racing neatly between Dice Roll and Elephant (NZ).

Tofane Held up from the 400 metres before gaining clear running passing the 150 metres.

Dice Roll (FR) Eased down in the straight. Rider Fred Kersley reported the gelding would be better suited to tracks with more give. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.

Elephant Steadied passing the 1300 metres when making ground onto the heels of Lunar Fox which was shifting in. Approaching the winning post Damian Lane stopped riding as the gelding was racing on the heels of Embolism. D Lane could offer no explanation for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.

Lunar Fox - Lost the left hind plate.

Race 10 NEDS HERBERT POWER STAKES - 2400 metres:

King Of Leongrance Late scratching at 1.14pm due to the track upgrade.

Rostropovich (IRE) - Change of tactics - To be more forward. Settled in a handy position. Caught wide in the early stages, allowed to stride and sit outside the leader near the 1700 metres. Rider Craig Newitt could offer no explanation for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.

Defibrillate (NZ) - Slow to begin. Passing the 400 metres was steadied off the heels of Killourney (IRE), which had shifted out before then shifting back to the inside of that gelding for clear running.

Barade (FR) Slow to begin. Lost the near fore plate.

Delphi Steadied passing the wining post on the first occasion.

Aktau (GB) Tightened for room passing the winning post on the first occasion. Rider Michael Dee could offer no explanation for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.

Tooradin Near the 100 metres when weakening had to be steadied when tightened for room between Defibrillate and Mirage Dancer, which shifted in slightly.

The Chosen One Lost the near fore plate.

Luke Currie (Mirage Dancer) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provision of AR131(a), the careless riding being that passing the winning post on the first occasion he permitted his mount to shift in when not clear of Killourney (IRE) resulting in that gelding being taken in and tightening the running of Delphi, which had to be steadied and shift in tightening the running of Aktau. L Currie had his licence to ride in races suspended for a total of eight meetings to commence midnight 13 October, 2021 and to expire midnight 20 October, 2021 (1 metro, 7 provincial). In assessing penalty Stewards were of the view that the incident qualified for the low-range category of carelessness and took into account his guilty plea and record.
