RACE 1 – Drinkwise Plate 1250m

Justice Warrior – began awkwardly.  App Z Lloyd reported that the colt raced keenly in the early stages and then travelled comfortably through the middle stages.  He added that due to its racing manners in the early stages, Justice Warrior was left without a finishing effort.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  Trainer Ms K Buchanan advised that Justice Warrior would now be spelled.

Louisburgh – began awkwardly.  Near the 250m was bumped and taken wider by Sacred Fort which shifted out.  Raced greenly throughout the event.

Rugby – shifted in on jumping and bumped Steel Strike.  Rugby was then hampered by Justice Warrior which shifted in.

Sacred Fort – slow to begin and shortly after the start was eased from the heels of Steel Strike.  Upon entering the home straight was briefly held up and when attempting to obtain clear running to the outside of Justice Warrior, shifted out and made contact with Louisburgh before securing clear running approaching the 200m.

Steel Strike – hampered on jumping by Rugby, which shifted in.  Laid out rounding the home turn and continued to lay out under pressure in the home straight.

Straand Beauty – Stewards permitted J Parr to ride the colt 1kg over its allotted weight.  From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. Raced greenly under pressure in the home straight.

RACE 2 – The Agency Real Estate Plate 1250m

Cosmic Arc – was  a late scratching at 9.44am acting on veterinary advice after being found to be lame.  Stable representative Ms A Hartney was advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided prior to Cosmic Arc being permitted to barrier trial or race again.

Glitterscript – App D Gibbons reported that it was his intention to settle in a more prominent position, however after the filly was fractious in the barriers and was removed to undergo a veterinary examination. He said after being reloaded in the barriers, Glitterscript then began only fairly and as a consequence he was obliged to settle further back than intended.  He added that when entering the home straight and shifting Glitterscript to the outside of runners, the filly finished the race off strongly and will be better suited when able to be ridden more prominently.

Howler – slow to begin.

Sharon Drive – near the 900m, when being restrained to obtain a position with cover, had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of Zoutastic which shifted in. J McDonald reported that when caught wide in the early stages, to obtain cover, he was obliged to restrain Sharon Drive to obtain a position towards the rear of the field.  He added that Sharon Drive raced greenly through the middle stages and laid out rounding the home turn. He further added that Sharon Drive was under pressure from the 400m and was one paced in the straight before doing its best work over the concluding stages where the filly finished the race off satisfactorily.   A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Missile Seeker – began awkwardly and lost ground.  Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early stages of the home straight before shifting to the outside of Tartana near the 250m to secure clear running.

Pink Baroque – began only fairly.  From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages. T Berry reported that after travelling satisfactorily through the early and middle stages, once he placed Pink Baroque under pressure from the 400m, Pink Baroque did not feel entirely comfortable in its action.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  Stewards will follow up on the post race condition of Pink Baroque in the days subsequent.

The inquiry was adjourned to allow trainer Mr K Dryden to provide veterinary and treatment records. T Schiller dismounted from Eastern Glow and reported having no apparent injuries and advised he was able to fulfil his remaining riding engagements.

Monarchs Brae – bumped on jumping by All In The Mind.  Passing the 400m was bumped by Elsie May and then shortly after was hampered and bumped heavily by Elsie May which shifted out to obtain clear running.

Elsie May – began only fairly.  Near the 700m had to be severely checked to avoid Eastern Glow which had broken down and gave ground quickly.  Near the 300m became briefly unbalanced after shifting out abruptly and making contact with Monarchs Brae.

Super Chilled – approaching the first turn near the 1200m had to be steadied when tightened for room between Eastern Glow and Mayfair Spirit which shifted in and away from Monarchs Brae which shifted in after receiving slight pressure from Russley Crown (App M Stapleford).  App Stapleford was advised to exercise more care. J McDonald (Elsie May) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(a) in that near the 300m, he permitted his mount to shift out fro behind the heels of Mayfair Spirit to obtain clear running and in doing so made heavy contact with Monarchs Brae which shifted out causing Super Chilled to be hampered when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Monarchs Brae. Divine Glory – K McEvoy reported that the filly hung out rounding the home turn.

Hughes – when questioned, C Schofield stated that he had been instructed to ride the gelding prominently.  He said he had hoped to obtain a position outside the lead from the outside barrier, however, after beginning only fairly, Hughes failed to show any early speed and rather than pressure his mount and risk being caught wide, he elected to ride Hughes conservatively and settled at the rear of the field. He added that given this was Hughes’ first run in eleven months, he was satisfied in the manner in which Hughes finished the race off and in his view, the gelding would take natural benefit from today's run. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow-up on the post race condition of Hughes in the days subsequent.

Need Some Luck – began only fairly.  Laid out rounding the home turn.  Shifted out abruptly near the 50m before being corrected.
