RACE 1 – TAB Handicap 1200m

Mandalong Cash– began awkwardly and lost ground and then was shifted behind runners from a wide barrier in the early stages.

Flying Witness– began awkwardly.  Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

State Capital– began awkwardly.  A post race veterinary examination revealed State Capital to be lame (2/5) lame in the off fore leg.  Co-trainer Mr A Bott was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to State Capital being permitted to race or trial again.  Mr Bott advised that State Capital will now be spelled.

Camplin– began awkwardly. Rider R King stated that at the filly's first start at Kensington on 3 February 2021, when caught wide in the early stages, she was obliged to improve whereby she was able to lead the event.  She said that today, Camplin did not begin as she expected and then failed to muster the speed it displayed on debut.  She added that as a consequence, she was not able to hold a position to the inside of Single Honor and therefore obtained a trailing position behind that runner throughout the event.  R King added that her mount travelled well behind the leader Single Honor, however near the 250m, she was obliged to check her mount from the heels of Single Honor when that runner shifted out slightly when racing very greenly.  She said that as a result she was then not able to secure clear running until the 150m where in her view the filly finished its race off fairly.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Kooled– began only fairly.  For a short distance approaching the 600m raced keenly when positioned in restricted room to the inside of State Capital.   Kooled was held up approaching the 400m.  After the 400m, when endeavouring to shift to the outside of With Your Blessing, laid out and made contact with State Capital.   Kooled continued to lay out until passing the 300m.

With Your Blessing– near the 900m had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Bacchanalia (H Bowman) which shifted in when not fully clear.  H Bowman was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.  With Your Blessing continued to overrace at the heels of Bacchanalia for a short distance approaching and passing the 800m.  Over the final 50m, raced in restricted room between Kooled and Bacchanalia, which laid out slightly.

Single Honor– rider R Dolan stated that his mount raced greenly in the lead throughout the event and shortly after straightening, when Bacchanalia past his mount after the 300m, the colt shifted in away from that runner and became unbalanced.  From this point, Single Honor then weakened noticeably, however R Dolan expressed no concern with the colt upon return to scale.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  Co-trainer Mr R Freedman advised that Single Honor will now be gelded and spelled.  Notwithstanding this advice, Mr Freedman was advised that Single Honor will be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before being permitted to race or trial again.

RACE 2 – Iron Jack Plate 1250m

Sixth Amendment– stood flat footed at the start and lost ground (2L).  Trainer Mr J Coyle was advised that the filly, which raced uncompetitively, will be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before being permitted to race again.

Rapids– was hampered at the start after being bumped heavily by Egao which began awkwardly and shifted in.  As a consequence, Rapids was shifted behind runners from a wide barrier in the early stages.  Upon entering the home straight was obliged to shift to the outside of the heels of Military Parade to continue into clear running.

Egao– began awkwardly, shifted in and made heavy contact with Rapids.  Raced greenly inside the final 100m.

Latin Lyric– began awkwardly and made contact with the nearside barrier partition.  Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight.  Near the 150m, hung in, obliging its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount to prevent tightening to Symo's Girl.  A short distance later, when being shifted back out, Latin Lyric then became momentarily awkward at the heels of Egao, which shifted in slightly.  Latin Lyric continued to lay in for the remainder of the event.

Spirituality– began awkwardly.  Approaching the 100m was briefly inconvenienced by Egao which shifted out.

Symo's Girl– shortly after the start was bumped on the hindquarter by Rapids.

Military Parade– hung out approaching and rounding the home turn.

RACE 3 – Canterbury Night Sprint Series - Heat 5 1100m

El Cohete– began awkwardly, shifted in, bumped Vienna Rain and was then shifted behind runners in the early stages from a wide barrier.

Vienna Rain– was bumped on jumping by El Cohete.

Crafty Tycoon– began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped Vienna Rain.  Passing the 200m, when attempting to obtain clear running to the outside of Key Largo, made slight contact with Kosciusko.

Kosciusko– laid out rounding the home turn.

Shadow Bridge– a post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

RACE 4 – Cabra Vale Diggers Handicap 1100m

Brazen Gem– began awkwardly.

Aeecee Dynasty– from the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Estrado– from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.  Raced keenly in the early and middle stages.  A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils for the first time.  Trainer Mr G Portelli was advised of the provisions of AR79(4).

Invincible Kiss– over the final 50m shifted out under pressure.

Twice As Special– over the final 30m was eased when awkwardly placed on the heels of Invincible Kiss (App B Griffiths) which shifted out under pressure.  As a consequence, rider H Bowman could not fully test Twice As Special over the concluding stages.  App Griffiths was advised to exercise more care.

Empress Bea– rider S Clipperton stated that he had been disappointed in the manner in which the mare had barrier trialled on both occasions leading into tonight’s race.  He added that Empress Bea did not travel at any stage of the event and was under pressure from the 400m whereby Empress Bea then failed to finish its race off in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  The Stewards will follow up on the post race condition of Empress Bea in the days subsequent.

RACE 5 – Australian Chinese Jockey Club Handicap 1550m

Harmonium– underwent a veterinary examination after arriving on course with a mild skin irritation and was subsequently deemed suitable to race.  A post race veterinary examination revealed Harmonium to have lost its off fore plate.

Ruddock– began awkwardly.

Macleay– began awkwardly and lost ground.  Raced keenly in the early stages.

Jack The Lad– shifted out on jumping and made contact with Anotherthinkcomin’.

Anotherthinkcomin'– rider T Clark stated that in his opinion Anotherthinkcomin' failed to run out the 1600m at its previous start at Gosford on 4 February 2021 when leading so he therefore elected to secure a trailling position behind Ruddock tonight.  He added that bearing this in mind he was reluctant to ask his mount to improve from the 600m when Ruddock was able to establish a margin on his mount.  He further added that Anotherthinkcomin' failed to finish its race off and believed it had reached the end of its preparation.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.  Co-trainer Mr A Bott agreed with rider T Clark and added that the gelding will now be spelled.

RACE 6 – Remembering Louie Bene Handicap 1900m

Dalmatia Prince– slow to begin.

Zidane– after beginning only fairly, from the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.  Raced wide and without cover from the 700m.  Rider J Ford was reminded of his obligation to ensure he rides his mounts out fully to the end of the race.

Duchess Of Windsor– rider R King stated that when caught racing wide she had to make some use of her mount in the early stages to obtain a position outside the leader, Dylan's Romance and that this had an impact on the mare's capacity to finish its race off in the straight.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Enduring Night– had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight, and approaching the 100m was eased when attempting to improve into a run between Dylan's Romance and Dinado where there was insufficient room.  Enduring Night was then able to secure clear running over the final 75m where it finished its race off well.

Mandalong Kiss– rider A Banks was reprimanded under AR132(6)(c) for using his whip when his mount was out of contention.

RACE 7 – Newcastle City Kia Evening Star 1550m

Miss Redoble– slow to begin.   Was held up momentarily rounding the home turn.

Weekend Affair– shortly after the start was crowded for room between So Wicked and Welsh Legend, which shifted out.

Welsh Legend– shifted out on jumping, made contact with Weekend Affair and shortly after was bumped on the hindquarter by Weekend Affair and became momentarily unbalanced.

On The White Turf– from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stage.

Banger– from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.   Raced keenly in the early stages.

Tepario– rider T Clark stated that as he was forced to race wide and without cover throughout the event, his mount was unable to finish its race off in the straight and weakened noticeably inside the final 100m.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

So Wicked– making the turn near the 700m, laid in and made slight contact with Miss Redoble.  Held up rounding the home turn and shortly after straightening was disappointed for a run between Tepario and Bergen.   So Wicked then had difficulty obtaining clear running until being shifted to the outside of Bergen passing the 100m.

Bergen– when questioned regarding Bergen racing further forward tonight, App T Sherry stated that after beginning well, and without unduly pressuring the gelding in the early stages, he was able to maintain a position outside the leader, Mercurial Lad.  He added that he had anticipated Tepario, which was racing in a three wide position, to improve around his mount where he would be able to obtain a position with cover, however when that did not eventuate, he remained racing outside the leader throughout the event.

Mercurial Lad– a post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame (3/5) in the off fore leg.  Co-trainer Mr P Jones was advised that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to Mercurial Lad being permitted to race or trial again.

RACE 8 – The Agency Real Estate Handicap 1250m

Black Duke– trainer Mr R Litt was fined $100 under AR227(a) for negligently declaring N Rawiller as the rider of Black Duke when N Rawiller was unavailable. The Stewards permitted R King to be substituted as the rider of the gelding.  Tightened for room on jumping between Sanctioned and Achiever.  Black Duke was then shifted behind runners in the early stages.   Approaching the 400m was hampered and forced wider by Buzz, which shifted out.

Blesk– began only fairly.  Passing the 300m, when attempting to shift to the outside of Stormy Rock, became awkwardly placed at the heels of that runner before continuing to shift to its outside to continue into clear running.

Sanctioned– after beginning only fairly, then lost ground when hampered by Black Duke, which shifted out.   As a consequence, Sanctioned was then shifted behind runners in the early stages.  Rounding the home turn was awkwardly placed when racing in restricted room between Ladies' Gem and Buzz.  Near the 400m had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of Ladies’ Gem.

Buzz– began awkwardly, shifted out and made contact with Rule Of Law.  Commenced to race ungenerously passing the 1100m and was hampered briefly when Rule Of Law shifted in momentarily.  Buzz continued to race ungenerously when racing wide and without cover through the middle stages.

Achiever– from a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.  Approaching the 50m, was eased and shifted out and away from the heels of Rule Of Law, which laid out slightly.

Ladies' Gem– near the 500m had to be steadied when crowded between Buzz and Stormy Rock (S Clipperton) which shifted out when not clear.  S Clipperton was reprimanded.  Near the 300m, when commencing to give ground, had to be eased to avoid the heels of Blesk (R Bayliss) which shifted out when not quite clear.   R Bayliss was advised to exercise more care.

Rule Of Law– over the concluding stages was hampered and taken out by Nuclear Summit and as a result raced in restricted room between that runner and Achiever until the end of the race.  When questioned regarding the performance of the colt, rider J McDonald stated that his mount travelled well outside the leader Nuclear Summit, however when placed under pressure after the 300m, Rule Of Law responded only fairly before weakening inside the final 100m.   A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-trainer Paul Snowden advised that he was disappointed with the performance of the colt tonight and will now discuss the immediate racing future for Rule Of Law with the owners at which time he will report back to the Stewards.
