Jockey Hugh Bowman has taken the opportunity of getting acquainted with his Caulfield Cup mount Anthony Van Dyck (IRE) by partnering the Irish-trained stayer in light work at Werribee on Friday.
Anthony Van Dyck is part of a 29-horse strong international contingent in Melbourne for the Victorian Spring Racing Carnival and one of five international horses set to run in Saturday’s $5 million Group 1 handicap over 2400m.
Bowman said it was nice to get to know Anthony Van Dyck ahead of Saturday’s contest.
“He’s a very charismatic horse and he looks particularly well,” Bowman said.
“I am looking forward to the race. He is a very high-class individual and I am looking forward to what he might do tomorrow.”
Anthony Van Dyck has drifted from $5 to $7.50 with TAB since Wednesday’s final field was announced in which he drew the second widest gate.
