Race 1 THE HAYMARKET BM84 HANDICAP - 1400 metres:

Lighthouse Began awkwardly.

Look Closely Began awkwardly with its head up. Laid in under pressure passing the 200m.

Frankie Pinot Slow into stride.

Kurabui Distant last, eased down from the 200m. Rider Jye McNeil reported that after being placed under pressure on straightening the mare failed to respond to his riding and felt amiss. A post-race veterinary examination revealed an irregular heart rhythm. Kurabui shall not start in any race until the Stewards have received a satisfactory veterinary report. The report must include the results of an ECG performed at rest and cardiac auscultation performed within 30 minutes of completing a satisfactory gallop of at least 1000 metres.

 

Race 2 JOHN JENS VOBIS GOLD EUREKA STOCKADE - 1400 metres:

Sunfall Slow to begin.

Swear By Her Slow to begin.

Jimmy The Bear Passing the 250m was taken outwards across heels to obtain clear running.

Daily Bugle Performed below market expectations. Rider Damien Thornton could offer no explanation for the colts disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

 

Race 3 MAGIC MILLIONS BALLARAT 2YO CLASSIC - 1000 metres:

Onlyhereforthebeer Began awkwardly. Rounding the home turn was carried outwards by Le Gagneur which in turn had been taken outwards. Rider Jordan Childs reported that the colt raced greenly, and in his opinion his mount failed to appreciate the quick tempo of the race. Trainer Archie Alexander was spoken to regarding the failure to present the colt for a veterinary examination as directed. A veterinary clearance is required before the colt is accepted to race again.

La Gagneur Began awkwardly.

Hercules Morse Slow to begin and was then eased off the heels of Epic Centre which shifted in.

Cover Star Slow to begin.

Nannu Began awkwardly.

Nothing Silly Slow to begin. Passing the 300m and again near the 100m was momentarily crowded when inside Fly Nice which had shifted in under pressure.

Kings Consort Raced wide without cover for a majority of the race.

Fly Nice Held up for clear running from passing the 400m until approaching the 200m. Performed below market expectations. Rider Linda Meech reported that on straightening she looked to improve wider, however was unable to do so and therefore elected to shift in to obtain clear running to the inside of Cusack which had shifted out slightly near the 250m. L Meech added that the filly raced greenly when placed under pressure and failed to respond to her riding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Arts Object Held up for clear running from passing the 400m until approaching the 200m.

 

Race 4 RITCHIES IGA MARES BM78 - 1200 metres:

The Commoner Began awkwardly and was slow to begin.

Lady Pluck Raced wide without cover for a majority of the race.

Garvoc Hung inwards over the final 200m and passing the 50m when continuing to hang inwards, shifted in and away from Way To Go Paula which had improved to its outside. As a result, the mares rider John Allen had to make a concerted effort to straighten the mare.

Score Tightened for room over the concluding stages between La Bella Costa and Garvoc (J Allen) which was hanging in. Stewards advised John Allen to ensure he takes greater care in similar circumstances.

La Bella Costa Eased over the concluding stages after being brushed by Score which had been tightened in by Garvoc. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to be lame in the near foreleg. Trainer Matt Laurie was notified that he will be required to provide a veterinary clearance before the mare is accepted to race again.

Way To Go Paula Passing the 200m had to steadied outwards to obtain clear running. Rider Brett Prebble reported that the mare was beaten for speed in the early and middle stages, and as a result he had to ride his mount along throughout. B Prebble added that in his opinion it would be suited over more ground as it finished the race off well.

 

Race 5 HERTZ BALLARAT TONKS PLATE HANDICAP - 1200 metres:

Irish Songs Slow to begin.

Ocean Beyond Slow to begin. Approaching the 200m was disappointed for clear running to the outside of Fine Dane before then shifting in to obtain a clear passage.

Neighbourhood Laid inwards under pressure in the straight.

Sirius Suspect Weakened from the 150m. Rider John Allen stated that the gelding was disappointing, and in his opinion raced flat. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Hawker Hurricane Raced three wide without cover. Rider Josh Richards reported his mount commenced to hung out shortly after straightening and continued to do so for the remainder of the race and as such did not pressure the gelding over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Fine Dane On and passing the winning post was crowded inwards by The Gauch (M Cartwright) which shifted in under pressure. Rider Mathew Cartwright was advised to show greater caution in similar circumstances. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor laceration to the off foreleg.

 

Race 6 A GRADE SHEDS BM70 HANDICAP - 1100 metres:

Proper Rogue Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival on course, having not raced since September 2020, and was passed suitable to race. Slow to begin.

Savannah Cloud Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival on course, having not raced since February 2021, and was passed suitable to race. Laid in under pressure in the straight.

Brazen Brando Began awkwardly and slow to begin. When racing keenly in the early stages had to be restrained when improving up onto the heels of Alburq.

South Parade Raced three wide without cover.

Harlem Blues Raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages getting its head up on numerous occasions. Distant last, eased down in the straight. Rider Jack Hill reported that the gelding was agitated and reluctant to proceed to the barriers. J Hill added this coupled with the gelding over racing considerably and failing to settle contributed to the geldings poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had lost its off hind plate and sustained superficial abrasions during running. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Barragunda Approaching and passing the 200m had some difficulty obtaining clear running behind Proper Rogue which had been shifting ground. When questioned rider Damien Oliver reported he had been given no specific instructions and had intended to settle where comfortable. D Oliver added after beginning only fairly and with their being superior speed to his inside, he elected to come back and settle in a position close to the rail.

 

Race 7 GLOBAL TURF BM84 HANDICAP - 2000 metres:

Correct was delayed for rider Brett Prebble and the connections of Just Benjamin as well as Stewards to view the official photo finish. As all parties were satisfied, correct weight was declared.

Legend Of Zorro Fractious in barrier. Underwent a veterinary examination and passed suitable to race.

Skelm Slow to begin.

Alcyone Raced wide in the early stages until striding forward to settle outside the leader near the 1400m. Beaten favourite. Rider Damien Oliver reported that the gelding raced flat and was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A swab sample was taken for analysis. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Sign Of Ussuri Held up for clear running from the 400m until passing the 300m.

Fifth Position Raced wide without cover from the 1400m. Rider John Allen could offer no explanation for the geldings disappointing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Rider Brett Prebble (Just Benjamin) pleaded guilty to breaching the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on eight occasions prior to the 100 metres. B Prebbles licence to ride in races was suspended for a total of eight meetings to commence midnight 20 November, 2021 and to expire midnight 26 November, 2021 (2 metro, 6 provincial). Further, B Prebble was fined $500. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account his guilty plea, excellent record and the totality of his whip use (18).

Rider Luke Currie (Silent Sovereign) pleaded guilty to breaching the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on seven occasions prior to the 100 metres. L Curries licence to ride in races was suspended for a total of seven meetings to commence midnight 27 November, 2021 and to expire midnight 3 December, 2021 (1 metro, 6 provincial). Further, L Currie was fined $500. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account his guilty plea, excellent record and the totality of his whip use (16).

 

Race 8 SPORTSBET BALLARAT CUP - 2000 metres:

Flash Aah After getting a leg momentarily caught up on the petition, underwent a veterinary examination and passed suitable to race. Raced three wide without cover.

In A Twinkling Slow to begin.

Princess Jenni After being slightly slow to begin, was then eased shortly after when crowded for room. Steadied upon straightening near the 350m to avoid the heels of Flash Aah. Steadied again near the 300m to avoid the heels of Flash Aah which shifted in slightly when weakening.

Skyman Raced keenly in the middle stages.

Thought Of That Raced wide in the early stages and was urged along by its rider to obtain the lead passing the 1600m. Laid outwards rounding the home turn. Rider Linda Meech reported that as her mount had to work hard in the early stages, the gelding failed to finish off over the concluding stages.

Defibrillate On straightening near the 350m was brushed and taken wider by Ghodeleine which in turn had been taken out slightly by Foxy Frida. Rider Billy Egan reported that the gelding was disappointing, and in his opinion raced like a tired horse. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Race 9 SUEZ MCKELLAR MILE BM78 HANDICAP - 1600 metres:

Midas Prince Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival on course, having not raced since May 2020, and was passed suitable to race.

Night Passage Underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival on course due to a wound on the off hind pastern and was passed suitable to race.

Osaka Underwent a veterinary examination on arrival at the barriers after hitting a gate leaving the mounting yard. Passed suitable to race.

Seiners Express On jumping shifted in and made contact with Osaka. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Co-trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace were notified that they will be required to provide a veterinary clearance before the gelding is accepted to race again.

Tatunka Began awkwardly.

Single Handed Raced three wide without cover from the 1200m. Rider Linda Meech reported the gelding pulled hard throughout.

New Choice Inclined to lay inwards under pressure in the straight.

Saltpeter Passing the 50m after re-gathering the offside rein, shifted in having to be straighten by its rider.

Saccharo Rider John Allen reported that when wide in the early stages he allowed his mount to stride forward to obtain the lead near the 1100m. J Allen added that the gelding raced keenly in the lead and set a slightly quicken tempo than he would have preferred.

 

Race 10 MAGIC MILLIONS BALLARAT 3YO & 4YO CLASSIC - 1100 metres:

Outlaws Revenge Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after kicking a fence. Late scratching on veterinary advice at 4.35pm due lameness in the near hindleg. Trainer Ryan Balfour was notified that he will be required to provide a veterinary clearance before the gelding is accepted to race again.

Ranting Slow to begin.

Starry Legend Slow to begin. When questioned rider Michael Dee stated that after being slow to begin, he was then reluctant to ride the colt along as it has a tent to over race and for this reason he was very natural in the early stages and settled further back than intended. Trainer John Sadlers representative reported that whilst they would have preferred the colt to settle with cover due to it failing to settle in its races, they none the less did not intent to be so far back.

Authentic Jewel Raced four wide without cover for a majority of the race. Rider Jye McNeil reported that in his opinion the filly did not appreciate racing in the anti-clockwise direction. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Glistening Raced three wide without cover for a majority of the race.

Never Say Nay Held up from the 300m until having to shift out across heels at the 150m.
