The Gauch Bounded at the start and was slow to begin. A post‑race veterinary examination revealed the entire to be lame in the near foreleg. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to racing again.

Race 2 - GLOBAL TURF BM78 HCP - 2600 metres:

Flag Edition (NZ) Late scratching at 11.37 am, veterinary advice, lame near foreleg. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to racing again.

Yulong Rising (IRE) Change of tactics: more forward. Settled midfield.

Wentwood (GB) Slow to begin. Raced keenly at the rear of the field passing the 2200m and then allowed to stride forward passing the 2000m to settle outside the leading horse.

Reflect The Stars Passing the winning post on the first occasion was eased to avoid the heels of Yulong Rising (IRE) (L. Neindorf) which shifted in when not quite clear. Apprentice Lachlan Neindorf was severely reprimanded. Rider John Allen reported that the mare was left a little flat-footed passing the 800m when the tempo increased and from that stage made steady ground under hard riding.

Brilliant Venture (NZ) Got its head up when racing keenly passing the 2200m. Passing the 500m was disappointed for a run between Peso (NZ) and Wahine Toa and as a result was awkwardly placed on the heels of the weakening Peso (NZ) for a short distance.

Jack Regan (GB) Over-raced passing the 2200m. Rider Luke Currie reported that his mount was inclined to over-race, refused to settle and as a result this was detrimental to its chances. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Wahine Toa Rounding the home turn near the 500m was eased when racing awkwardly inside the heels of Yulong Rising (IRE) which shifted in marginally.

Lovin' Feelin' Raced wide without cover.

Butter Blonde Rider Craig Williams reported after beginning only fairly he had to make some use of his mount in the early stages to obtain a leading position, however was under pressure prior to straightening and was disappointing. A post‑race veterinary examination revealed lacerations to the off foreleg. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to racing again.

Camporeale Rider Joe Bowditch reported that the filly was immature and would derive benefit from today's race. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Enigman Held up for clear running from the 400m until near the 200m. When questioned, apprentice Will Price reported that he was instructed to ride the gelding back in the field and run on strongly in the straight. He explained that rounding the home turn from the 500m he elected to stay behind All Too Royal with cover and wait for a clear run, rather than shift out wide and expose the gelding too early. He added he was then held up behind All Too Royal and to the inside of Mystyko (NZ) in the early part of the straight before then gaining running to the inside of All Too Royal near the 200m, and then made good ground to the finish. Will Price added that whilst he had an option to come to the outside of Mystyko (NZ) passing the 400m, that option was closed after he worked up inside of Mystyko (NZ), searching for a run near the 300m. He further added that in hindsight he would have obtained clear running sooner than he did had he shifted to the outside of Mystyko (NZ) at the top of the straight.

Travimyfriend (NZ) Rider Dean Yendall reported that the gelding would be better suited to tracks with more give. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

All Too Royal Apprentice Matthew Cartwright could offer no explanation for the performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.  Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Balle D'Or Underwent a veterinary examination after being fractious in the barriers and was passed fit to race.

Snapdancer Began awkwardly.

Lunakorn Began awkwardly and shortly after bumped with Arctic Shock (NZ). Approaching the 600m when racing keenly shifted out and was awkwardly placed on the heels of Golden Halo.

Arctic Shock (NZ) Bumped with Lunakorn shortly after the start. Held up for clear running from the 400m and went to the line not fully tested. Rider Craig Williams reported he had no options in the home straight to gain clear running and after obtaining running to the inside of Merited near the 200m was then held up behind the weakening Balle D'Or. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Right You Are Laid in under pressure in the straight. Rider Mark Zahra reported the gelding did not feel entirely comfortable in its action. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable.

Think 'N' Fly Passing the 600m shifted to the outside of Royal Order which then shifted out and brushed Think 'N' Fly which then lost its footing and became unbalanced. Rider Damien Oliver reported after being bumped and becoming unbalanced near the 600m his mount failed to respond thereafter. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Starcaster (GB) Tightened for room approaching the winning post between Brilliant Concept and Influential Jack which shifted out and away from Sentimentalist.

Kaplumpich When questioned regarding the gelding leading, rider Craig Williams reported he had been instructed to ride his mount in the first half of the field. From his wide barrier he rode his mount along in the early stages to comply with his instructions and with the lack of early speed in the race, his mount was able to take up a leading position where it travelled comfortably throughout.

Race 8 SPORTSBET BALLARAT CUP LISTED - 2000 metres:

Prior to correct weight, after viewing the Stewards' patrol footage, rider Daniel Moor (Odeon (NZ), 5th placegetter) lodged an objection against Harlem (GB) (C. Williams) being declared 4th placegetter on the grounds of alleged interference over the final 100 metres. It was established that passing the 100 metres, Harlem (GB) shifted out to improve to the outside of Irish Flame which had shifted in, and in doing so made contact with Odeon (NZ). Bearing in mind the manner in which both horses ran to the finish after the incident, Stewards were satisfied that had the interference not occurred, Odeon (NZ) would not have finished ahead of Harlem (GB) and therefore the objection was dismissed and correct weight was declared.

Kiwia Slow to begin and knuckled.

Kings Will Dream (IRE) Began awkwardly.

Affair To Remember On jumping away was tightened for room between Al Galayel (IRE) and Game Keeper which shifted out.

Our Big Mike (NZ) When weakening passing the 200m was checked to avoid the heels of Inverloch (IRE) which had been taken in by Plein Ciel (GER) and Game Keeper.

Plein Ciel (GER) Hampered passing the 200m.

Inverloch (IRE) Hampered passing the 200m. A post‑race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. A veterinary certificate will be required prior to racing again.

Junipal A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Double You Tee Billy Egan pleaded guilty under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip on eight occasions prior to the 100 metres which is three more than permitted. Billy Egan had his licence to ride in races suspended for a total of eight meetings (2 metropolitan, 6 provincial) to commence midnight 22 November 2020 and to expire midnight 29 November 2020. Billy Egan was also fined $300. In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account Billy Egan's guilty plea, record, totality of whip strikes (18), the fact it was a feature race and that he earnt sixth prizemoney.

Luke Currie (Game Keeper) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a), the careless riding being that passing the 200 metres, he rode his mount to the inside of So Si Bon and in doing so made contact with Plein Ciel (GER) which was taken in onto Inverloch (IRE), resulting in both those horses being hampered and taken off their line. Luke Currie had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence midnight 28 November 2020 to expire midnight 8 December 2020, a total of 11 race meetings (3 metropolitan, 8 provincial). In assessing penalty, Stewards took into account his guilty plea, good record, forthright evidence, the fact it was a feature race and that the carelessness was in the mid‑range.

He added that the gelding balanced up a little further back than he anticipated but was content to be following Hawker Hurricane.

Whipcracker Way Rider Luke Nolen could offer no explanation for the performance. A post‑race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
