The Chris Waller trained Alward (IRE) won the $140,000, listed ATC Cup (2000m) at Rosehill on Saturday to gain a stakes win after previous multiple listed and group placings and capping off an excellent spring campaign that has yield two wins, a second and third from five starts.

The margin at the line was 1 3/4L to stablemate and $5.20 favourite Black On Gold (Sebring) (55kg) and James McDonald with a nose to Tamarack (NZ) (Redwood) (55kg) and Christian Reith. A neck back Taikomochi held on for fourth.
