RACE 1:  Kim Waugh Racing 4YO & Up Maiden Plate 1200m

Chloebella Rose – As R Brewer was indisposed, Stewards permitted S Lisnyy to be substituted as the rider of the mare.

Spanish Pearl - The mare was a late scratching at 8.15am on veterinary advice.

Blue Sky Moon – En route to the barriers the gelding dislodged its rider K O'Hara, who sustained no injuries in the incident.  Began awkwardly.

Camp David – Began awkwardly and lost ground.

Company Line – After passing the 1000m, was steadied to avoid the heels of Blue Sky Moon (K O'Hara), which shifted in when not quite clear.  K O'Hara was told to ensure that she is the required two lengths clear when shifting ground.

Queen Octavia – A post-race veterinary examination of the mare, which raced wide and without cover throughout the event and was beaten 20 lengths, revealed it to be 2/5 lame in the near-foreleg.  Co-trainer Mr J Lee advised that Queen Octavia would now be retired.  Acting on this assurance, no action was taken.

RACE 2:  Kristen Buchanan Racing Colts-Geldings-Entires Maiden Handicap 1350m

Sir Bawn – Began awkwardly and lost ground.  Approaching the 1000m was hampered and carried wider by Kaptive, which shifted to a one off position, obliging its rider to restrain the gelding to assume a position with cover at the tail of the field.  Rider S Guymer reported that his mount felt somewhat awkward in its action throughout the event.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

No Pressure – Slow to begin and shortly after was hampered by Sir Bawn, which shifted in.

Yes No Maybe So – On jumping was bumped by Anotherthinkcomin’.  Raced keenly in the early stages.

Anotherthinkcomin’ – Began awkwardly and bumped Yes No Maybe So.  When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of the gelding, stable representative Mr R Nunn advised that a number of things went against the gelding on debut at Bathurst on 21 December 2020, in particular, it was obliged to race very wide and was also unsuited by the shifting track conditions on that day.  Mr Nunn added that, in his opinion, Anotherthinkcomin’ was far better suited today when able to obtain the lead in the early stages and dictate terms.

Apex – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.  When the pace slowed approaching the 500m improved onto the heels of Yes No Maybe So, was steadied and shifted out.

Kaptive – When questioned regarding his riding of the gelding, rider T Berry stated that he was issued no specific instructions, however, he had anticipated his mount settling a little further forward when stepping up in distance today.  He added that, after beginning fairly, his mount did not muster sufficient speed to maintain his position inside Deliberation and, as it had previously exhibited a tendency to overrace, he was reluctant to ride it along in the early stages.  He said for this reason he allowed Deliberation to cross approaching the 1000m and then immediately shifted his mount to a one off position trailing Yes No Maybe So, however, when Apex was restrained by its rider to take up a one off position, Kaptive was unable to hold that runner out and it was dictated to the rail passing the 800m.  T Berry further stated that his mount travelled comfortably in the middle stages and, when Yes No Maybe So shifted to the outside of Bytact passing the 400m, he was unable to shift to the outside of that runner, as his mount was positioned inside the heels of Apex, so he therefore elected to improve into the run that had developed between that runner and Deliberation, however, his mount was disappointed for that run on straightening when Deliberation shifted out.  He added that he then shifted his mount to the inside of Deliberation approaching the 150m to secure clear running, where his mount closed its race of strongly.

Bytact – A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 3:  Tracey Bartley Racing Fillies-Mares Maiden Handicap 1350m

Mon Amore – Rider S Guymer reported that immediately prior to the start being effected his mount got its near-hind leg up on the running board and, as a consequence, it began awkwardly and lost ground (2L).

Blaze Seven – Slow to begin (2L).  Passing the 400m became held up on the heels of Danzette and to the inside of Cryptogram and did not secure clear running until near the 150m.

La Cabana – Slow to begin.  Raced keenly in the middle stages.  For some distance passing the 400m had to be continually steadied when held up behind the weakening Confined Thoughts and Lumerai.  La Cabana was then shifted to the outside of Lumerai near the 300m, where it was then held up on the heels of Princess Amira and on straightening was disappointed for clear running between Princess Amira and Danzette, where there was insufficient room.  La Cabana then continued to be held up until passing the 100m.

Dane Central – From the outside barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.  On straightening became held up on the heels of Lumerai and was then shifted to the outside of that runner approaching the 100m to secure clear running.

Lumerai – Rider K Latham reported he was instructed to ride his mount with cover, however, when his mount was caught wide and without cover passing the 1000m, he rode it along to cross Princess Amira, rather than cover additional ground and, as a consequence, his mount settled further forward than anticipated.

Cryptogram – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

RACE 4:  Mark Cross Racing 2 & 3YO Provincial & Country Maiden Plate 1000m

Hammoon Money – The filly was declared a late scratching at 3.33pm when it refused to be loaded into the barriers.  The Stewards ruled that all monies invested on Hammoon Money be refunded in full and that all successful wagers made prior to 3.33pm be subject to the following deductions in the face value of each ticket:

1st Delexo 0 cents win 2 cents place

2nd Sniper Legend 2 cents place

3rd Belleofthehunter 4 cents place

Trainer Mr J Englebrecht was told Hammoon Money must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again.  When attempting to load Hammoon Money into the barriers, attendant Mr G Tout was kicked by filly in the leg.  Mr Tout was examined by the oncourse paramedics and cleared to fulfil his duties for the remainder of the day.

Delexo – Slow to begin.  Laid out rounding the home turn.

Belleofthehunter – Slow to begin.  Hung out rounding the turn from the 400m and, as a consequence, became unbalanced near the 300m.

Willow’s Voice – Slow to begin.

Mendooran – Shortly after the start was hampered by Look Out Lee, which shifted out.

Press Ahead – Rounding the turn near the 700m the gelding commenced to hang out and ran very wide, despite the efforts of its rider.  As a consequence, it took no further competitive part in the event.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be shin sore.  Trainer Mr G White was told that a veterinary clearance must be furnished prior to Press Ahead barrier trialling to the satisfaction of the Stewards.

Look Out Lee – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight and for some distance passing the 100m had to be steadied away from the heels of Express Award (J Taylor), which shifted out.  J Taylor was told that she should have stopped riding and straightened her mount sooner than she did on this occasion.

RACE 5:  Allan Denham Racing Class 1 Handicap 1100m

Cinderella – Prior to the declaration of correct weight, connections of the 2nd placed filly requested to view the Stewards’ footage of the home straight.  Stable representative Ms L Hopwood subsequently lodged a protest against Go For Gold being declared the winner, alleging interference inside the final 100m.  After taking evidence from all relevant parties, it was established that Cinderella was inclined to lay in towards the heels of Go For Gold passing the 100m and then near the 75m had to be steadied and shifted out to avoid the heels of Go For Gold, which shifted out.  As the Stewards were satisfied that the incident was the result of both horses shifting ground and taking into account the degree of interference suffered by Cinderella, as well as the proximity to the finish, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the incident had a material effect on the placings and, as a consequence, the protest was dismissed.  On jumping was bumped by Quatum, then shortly after was steadied when crowded between Ashra Jahre and Quatum, which continued to shift out.  Raced keenly in the middle stages.  Passing the 400m was held up on the heels of Quatum and rounding the home turn made contact with Irish Thunder in order to secure clear running.

Trojan Angel – Bounded on jumping and lost ground (2L).

Go For Gold – Slow to begin.  Laid out rounding the home turn.  After passing the 400m, improved onto the heels of Trojan Angel and had to be restrained.

Unearthed – Slow to begin.  Raced keenly in the middle stages.

Rebel Lilly – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Geotime – Raced wide and without cover throughout the event.

Irish Thunder – Passing the 600m was hampered and carried wider by Go For Gold, which shifted to the outside of Colonel and, as a consequence, Irish Thunder raced wide and without cover for the remainder of the race.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Quatum – When questioned regarding the performance, rider K McEvoy stated that his mount travelled well and the only explanation he could offer is that the gelding did not appreciate the tight turning Wyong track. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

RACE 6:  Happy Retirement Wyong Trainer Stan Thomas Conditional Benchmark 68 Handicap 1300m

Derbari – Began awkwardly and lost ground.  App. L Day (Rhythmic Pulse), assisted by Racing NSW Apprentice Mentor Mr P Webster, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR131(a) in that she permitted her mount to shift in approaching the 1000m when insufficiently clear of Derbari, which lost its rightful running and had to be checked when crowded between Rhythmic Pulse and Siesta Key.  App. Day’s permit to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on Wednesday, 27 January 2021 and to expire on Thursday, 4 February 2021, on which day she may ride.

Hercules Mo – Slow to begin, then shortly after was steadied when crowded between Trescha and Derbari, which shifted in.

Siesta Key – Began awkwardly.  Passing the 400m was held up on the heels of Snitzify and did not obtain clear running until near the 150m, where it made contact with Rhythmic Pulse when improving into a narrow run between that runner and Snitzify.  Siesta Key was then inclined to lay out for the remainder of the race and, as a consequence, raced tight with Rhythmic Pulse and was unable to be fully tested.

Snitzify – On jumping was bumped by War Cat.  Hung out rounding the home turn.

Undoubted – From a wide barrier was shifted behind runners in the early stages.

Trescha – Held up rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight.

Isorich – App. R Jones reported that passing the 100m his mount dipped and became unbalanced.

Rhythmic Pulse – Passing the 200m was bumped and carried wider by Siesta Key, then raced tight with that runner for the remainder of the race and, as a consequence, was unable to be fully tested.

RACE 7:  Jeff Englebrecht Racing Benchmark 64 Handicap (Heat of the Rising Star) 1350m

Elegant Grace – Trainer Mr K Lees was fined $100 under LR35(2) for the late declaration of App. D Gibbons as the rider of the mare.

Favra – Began awkwardly and lost ground.  A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.

Calbuco – Slow to begin.

Bizou – Slow to begin.
