Godolphin’s Trekking will have his second attempt at the $15m, TAB Everest (1200m) at Randwick on October 17th after his third last year when racing for his stable and this year in the slot held by Neil Werrett and Max Whitby.
Trekking is currently at $15.00 with TAB’s market for The Everest with Godolphin’s other runner in their own slot, Bivouac at $13.00. The Chris Waller trained Nature Strip is the current favourite at $3.50 and he runs in Saturday’s Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.
Trekking, a six-year-old Street Cry gelding, is a duel Group 1 winner with stakes earnings just short of $4 million. Last year under Josh Parr in The Everest he was just under a length from the winner Yes Yes Yes.
He comes to The Everest off a second in the Group 1 Moir Stakes over 1000m at The Valley last Friday night.
