“I look forward to leading an immensely talented, knowledgeable and passionate Board of Directors that has been bolstered by the new appointments of Tim Rourke and Mark Player, and supporting our deeply experienced executive leadership team at Racing Victoria.

“I’m delighted that Sharon McCrohan will serve as a Deputy Chair and I want to congratulate her on that appointment.

“My first priority will be to actively engage with our stakeholders to keep the focus on the opportunities and challenges ahead that unite us.

“Success can only come if we work together. A strong and vibrant Victorian racing industry is in the best interests of every fan of the sport and the tens of thousands of people whose livelihoods depend on it.

“There are many items on the Board’s agenda. We will go after every one of them with a shared goal of ensuring Victorian racing is a leader that delivers jobs, economic benefits and, above all, enjoyment.

“I want to thank retiring Director Mike Hirst for his outstanding contribution to Victorian racing and the Racing Victoria Board during his nine-year term.

“Mike is an incredibly talented business leader with immense passion for the sport and support for his fellow Directors, twice stepping up to assume the role of Acting Chair during his tenure. I wish him the best of luck in his new role as Chairman of AMP.”

“I congratulate Tim Eddy and Sharon McCrohan on their appointments as Chair and Deputy Chair of the Board of Racing Victoria," said Minister Carbines.

“Tim and Sharon bring a wealth of experience and industry knowledge to these vital roles and I look forward to them leading the critical work of the RV Board to ensure Victoria remains a world leader in thoroughbred racing.

“I’d also like to thank Mike Hirst for his long and distinguished service to the Racing Victoria Board and the thoroughbred racing industry more generally and wish him all the best in his future roles.

“Thoroughbred racing in this state has gone from strength to strength during Mike’s time on the Board and I’m very grateful for his service in various leadership roles.”
